The Muse

Me And The Girl Next Door

Wes, Wayne and Sunnee went up in front of the class to discuss their plans for the sportsfest. The three were taking notes which event their classmates would like to join. "So, Win, Mao Di, William and Prince will also join the basketball team. All right, how about the relay contest?" Wes asked.

Wayne smiled at him, and raised his hand. "You know this is my favorite event." he said. Wes nodded his head, and wrote his name. "Me too!" Diana said, raising her hand. She wasn't the fastest runner in the class, but since Wayne is joining the relay contest, might as well join him. "I'm joining to, and I guess Sylvia will join too." Wes said as they wrote their names.

"Class president, I'll join the relay too!" Sunnee volunteered. Wes nodded his head at her and wrote her name. She let out a smile, knowing she'll be joining the same event as Wayne. "All right. The next thing to discuss..." Wes said as he let out a sigh. Then, he looked at Wayne and Sunnee before announcing it to the class. "The class muse." Wes said.

"Diana!"

"Sylvia!"

"Cosmos!"

"Evan!"

The boys shouted. Diana was overwhelmed by the boys' support. But she has no plan to be the muse that year. She just want to join the relay with Wayne. "Actually, about that, we have decided on our muse." Wes began. He swallowed hard as he faced his classmates. "It's more of the student council president's decision..." Wayne said as he scratched his head. Sunnee gave him a puzzled look. "Well, guys, it's for the best. At least our class will be different, right?" Wes said.

"Then, who's gonna be the muse?" Win asked. Both Wes and Wayne looked at Sunnee. Sunnee then cleared and raised her hand. "I am." Sunnee said. "What?!" Both Evan and Win exclaimed as they jumped out of their seat. The two shook their heads. "We're dead." Win said. "We're done for." Evan said.

"We're dead."

"We're done for."

"We're dead."

"We're done for."

"We're dead."

"We're done for."

Wes glared at the two. "Hey, who do you think you are? The doctors from 'The X-Family'?" Wes asked them. "But why not Diana? She had been our muse ever since! And definitely, we'll win the best muse again if Diana is our Muse!" Win said.

Diana smiled as she stood up. "I'm sorry guys, but I decided to retire this year." she said. She could see shocked look on the boys' faces. "And besides, Sunnee is pretty too!" she said looking at Sunnee. The two girls smiled at each other. Sunnee silently thanked Diana for standing up for her. "Well, it's settled now. Now, let's talk about the school festival. Who wants to do the Maid Cafe and serve in cute maid dresses?" Wayne asked. Some girls raised their hands. "Sorry girls, only the boys will do the maid cafe this year." he said. He could hear the groan from their male classmates.

"We hate you!" some of the boys told Wayne.

Ella walked inside Sylvia's room, and found her staring outside her window. "Sylvia..." she called. Sylvia looked at her, and gave her a faint smile. "You need to eat something before you take your medicine." Ella said as she placed a tray of soup in front of her.

"Thank you, Ella jie. I'm sorry to bother you..." she apologized. Ella shook her head. "It's OK. It's my duty to take care of you." she said. Then, she sat beside her. "How are you feeling?" she asked. "I feel fine. I think by Monday, I can already go to school." Sylvia said.

"Then, how is your heart..." Ella asked, pointing at her own chest. She could see Sylvia's smile slowly fading. "It still hurts..." she said in a low voice. "Do you want to talk about it?I know last night, you already talked about it to Wes, but if you still want to talk to me about it..."

Sylvia looked at her, hesitating if she should open up to her. "I won't tell your parents, I promise." Ella said. Sylvia let out a sigh. "My heart still hurts." she said in a low voice. Ella just looked at her sadly. "I saw my boyfriend kiss another girl last night." she continued. "Did you ask for his explanation?" Ella asked. Sylvia shook her head. "I was too hurt and shocked to even talk to him."

"Then, do you know who that girl is to him?"

"All I know is she's a an old friend, his childhood friend."

"Do you think he might be in love with that girl?"

Sylvia lowered her head. "I don't want to know..." she said. Ella put his arms on her shoulders. "But you have to know. Even if it hurts, you need to find out. Because you have to know who he loves, who he will choose in the end. You will have to know who you are in his life. Because nothing hurts the most than not knowing you place in the life of the person you love." Ella said. "I don't know if I'm ready to feel the pain if I found out..." Sylvia said.

Ella lifted her chin to face her. "Sylvia, remember this. Love will always hurt. It's not always rainbows and happiness. There would always be storms. Because you will never see what real love is without going through it's chaos. Love is a beautiful pain. And we will always choose that pain, no matter what." she said. This time, Sylvia understood. Thanks to Ella's words, she found the courage to face what she fears the most.

Wes went to the student council office with Wayne. From inside, he saw Dyan doing some paperworks. "Hi Dylan. We're here to pass the list of participants for the sportsfest." Wes said as he handed him the paper. Dylan took the paper, and then read it. Then, he saw Sunnee's name as the muse.

"Are you serious about Sunnee being the muse?" Dylan asked as he wrinkled his brows. Wes and Wayne looked at each other, confused at his reaction. "But didn't you two had a deal?" Wes asked. "And besides, she wanted to be the muse as well. Diana didn't want to be the muse for our class." Wayne explained.

Wes and Wayne could see the black aura around him. "What's wrong?" the both thought. "No one else from your class can do it?" Dylan said firmly. They shook her head. "How about Sylvia?" Dylan asked. "No!" Wes exclaimed. Wayne gave him a puzzled look. Then, he tried to compose himself. "No. Sylvia won't do it." Wes said. "But did you even ask?"

"I'm her big brother, so I know she won't do it. Unless you want to see a girl in a  cat onesie parading around the campus."

Wayne could imagine what Wes was saying, so he let out a laugh. Dylan let out a sigh as he stared at Sunnee's name at the paper. "What do you think you're doing, you stupid sunny girl?" he thought. He's worried for her. He didn't want Sunnee to be the laughingstock of the school. "Don't worry, Diana said she'll help Sunnee. We may not win the best muse, but we'll make sure Sunnee is pretty that day." Wayne said confidently.

Dylan's eyes widened as he looked at Wayne. "You're going to make Sunnee pretty?!" he said. Wayne was really confused at him now. "Why? She's cute, don't you think?" Wayne said. Dylan stood up from his chair, and glared at Wayne. Scared, Wayne hid behind Wes, and let him face the student council president. "Cute? Cute?! You think she's cute?!" Dylan shouted at him.

"Ah, Dylan, what's wrong? Just relax, all right?" Wes said. He tried to lighten up  the mood, for he was scared of Dylan as well. Dylan took a deep breath, and went back to his seat. That was the only time the two was relieved. "All right, I'll accept this list for now. Let me know right away if there are any changes." Dylan said. "Should we make changes now?" Wayne asked. Dylan looked sharply at him. Wayne could only laugh nervously. "I think we should go now." Wayne said. Then, the two of them ran out of the office.

"Ian!" Dylan shouted the moment Wayne and Wes left. Ian, one of the officers came up to him. "What?" he asked in an annoyed tone. "Make sure Sunnee will not win as the best muse. Do you understand?" Dylan said. Ian let out a laugh. "I am not one of the judges, so shut up." Ian told him.

"Chun?"

Chun looked back and saw his stepbrother walking up to him. "Nic, just give me a news, any news. Please..." he pleaded him. Nicholas let out a smile. "It's confirmed. She's in Taiwan." Nicholas said.

With that, Chun let out a smile. Then, he handed him his plane tickets. "I've fixed everything for you. Pack your things, and go find her." Nicholas said. Chun nodded his head and let out a smile at him. "Thank you, Nic. Thank you for your help." he said. Then, he ran up to his room to pack his things.
