New Boy, New Girl

Me And The Girl Next Door

"Hey, I heard that new guy is part of a gang." Wayne told them during their lunch at the cafeteria. "He fights other students from different high school. He always skips class. And the reason he got into Dong Han is because his dad is a powerful one." he added. "Nevertheless, he's so handsome and cool!" Diana said dreamily. "What's so cool about him?" Wayne asked. "The way he walks, the way he's so quiet..." Diana said. "Aren't you a little concerned that he might bully one of us, or bring trouble to school?" Wayne asked her.

"Look, let's not judge the guy first. Maybe he is a good guy after all. Besides, it's just his first day." Wes said. "Why don't we ask him to hang out with us, so that we could get to know him better?" Diana suggested. Just then, Sylvia saw Sam pass by their table. He went to buy a milk, and then went on his way. A group of girls from another table called him, but he chose to ignore them. "He looks like a loner..." Sylvia said unconsciously. The three looked at her while she was looking at him. "Seems like he wants to be alone. Seems like he doesn't want any friends." she said.

Wayne and Diana looked at each other, and smiled. "Sylvia, are you secretly observing him?" Wayne asked. Then, Sylvia snapped back to reality, Since the new guy came inside their classroom, Sylvia couldn't help but observe the new guy. He was so mysterious. She doesn't know why, but she felt so drawn to him, as if he casted a spell on her. "Of... of course not!" she stuttered. "I mean... look! Someone called him... and... and... he just ignored them!"

Wayne and Diana laughed at her, making Sylvia blush. "Hey, stop it. Maybe she isn't secretly looking at him." Wes said in Sylvia's defense. Sylvia smiled at him to  thank him. "Maybe she's really looking at him." he added. This time Sylvia pouted as she hit his arm. Wes could only flinch in pain. "I think we should celebrate. Because Sylvia has a crush on someone other than Da Dong!" Diana said.  The three began to , much to her irritation. "He's not my crush!" she told them. "It's OK if you have a crush on him. We'll understand. It's part of growing up." Wayne told  her.

"You guys are impossible." Sylvia said in an irritated tone. She stood up from her seat, to the surprise of the three. She was so annoyed by her friends about them teasing him to the new guy. "Hey, where are you going?" she heard Wayne ask as she walked away from them. "I think we just annoyed the hell out of her." Diana said in a worried tone. Wes let out a sigh. "Just let her be for now. After she calmed down, we'll apologize, all right?" he said. The two nodded their heads.

Sylvia was walking back to their classroom. She  was a little bit annoyed when her friends to the new guy. "I don't like him! So what if I'm observing him? Can't I observe the new guy?" she said to herself. Just then, she bumped into something - or someone. When she looked up, she saw Sam standing in front of him. Their eyes locked for a moment, and she felt being lost in his brown eyes. "S-s-sorry..." she managed to matter. "It's OK. Be careful next time." he said as he smiled at her. Then, he walked to the opposite direction. Sylvia looked back, and stared at his back for a while. "Why am I like this?" she asked herself. She put her hand on her chest, and she could feel her heart beating fast.

Maybe her friends are right after all. Maybe, just maybe, she have a crush on the new guy.

--

Wes and Sylvia walked home  that afternoon. Since that incident at the cafeteria, Sylvia had been so quiet. "Are you just going to ignore me?" Wes asked. Sylvia didn't answer him. "We already said sorry about teasing you a while ago, right?" Wes asked. Still, Sylvia remained silent. Then, he let out a sigh. "I wanted to eat that big chocolate bar I had at home. Too bad, I don't have someone to share it with." he said. This time, Sylvia turned to him and smiled. "I'll help you finish that chocolate!" she said.

Wes let out a laugh. He knew her biggest weakness are sweets."Finally! I thought you're going to ignore me the whole afternoon." he said with a relief. "Sorry if I ignore you. I'm just thinking of something."

"What is it?"

"I don't want to tell you for now. I want to think it through."

"Why do you have to overthink about things?"

"Because I want to be sure that what I'm thinking is right."

Wes got confused with what she was saying. "Whatever." he said. As they stopped by their house, they saw a car in front of the empty house. Then, a petite lady wearing tank top and shorts came outside, and took a luggage out of her car. Wes couldn't help but look at at the lady's legs. Sylvia could see his jaw dropped as he stares at the girl. "Excuse me..." Sylvia said as she helped close his mouth. "But your saliva is dripping." she told him. Wes pouted at him.

"She's so pretty..." Wes said, as she looked at the direction of the girl. "I can see that." Sylvia said. "She's y. She's like a goddess." Wes said dreamily. Then, the girl  looked at their direction, and smiled. Wes could feel his cheeks burn as it blushes. "She's looking at me..." he whispered at Sylvia. "Of course, she noticed you're staring at her body." Sylvia said bluntly.

The girl walked towards their direction. "Hi! You must be my neighbors. I'm Tia, I'm renting that empty unit." Tia said as she pointed her house. "Hi, Tia! I'm Sylvia. I live in 12223-B. And This is Wes, he lives across my house." Sylvia greeted her. "It's nice to meet my new neighbors. Please take care of me." Tia said as she bowed. Wes could clearly see her cleavage as she bowed down. "I will. I mean, we will." he s stuttered.

Tia smiled at Wes. "You're so cute." she told him. Wes could only blush even more. "So, are you working or studying?" Sylvia asked Tia. "I'm in college, but I work as a model. And since this place is near my school, and my agency, I decided to rent it out." Tia answered. "Well, if you need any help, just don't hesitate to approach us." Sylvia said. Then, she looked at Wes, and noticed how he is crushing so hard on Tia. "You know, my best friend is a very handy guy. He can help you fix any broken things in your home, especially your broken heart." she teased Wes.

Wes looked at Sylvia with his eyes wide. Sure, he could fix some things inside the house, but not everything. ""Really? That's so cute. I'm pretty sure I'll be asking for Wes' help really soon." Tia said. Sylvia could see Wes smiling happily at Tia. "I'll be glad to be of service." Wes said. Tia smiled sweetly at him. "I need to go back inside to unpack. It's been nice to meet you, guys." Tia said. As she turned around to go back inside her house, Tia looked back at Wes. She winked and smiled at Wes before going inside her house.

"Oh, my heart..." Wes said as he clutched onto his chest. Sylvia could see blood falling from his nose. She shook her head as she took a tissue from her bag and stuck it inside his nose. "Hey!" Wes was surprised. "Your nose is bleeding." Sylvia told him with a smile. Wes took out the tissue, and found some blood in it. Sylvia could only laugh as he pouted.

--

It was still early in the morning. Sylvia was left alone in the classroom, While Wes and Wayne went out for a while to get their breakfast. As she was waiting for them, she was doing some doodles. Just then, she heard the door open. She looked up, and saw Sam walk in."G-good morning..." she greeted him Sam replied with a smile. He then went to his desk. Sylvia felt awkward with the silence between them.

She looked back at his desk, and saw him leaning on his table with his eyes closed. For a while, she stared at him, carefully studying his face. She found herself smiling as she looked at him. Just then, she heard footsteps. She looked by the door, and saw Wes and Wayne coming inside the classroom. "Sylvia, we bought you -" before Wayne could continue, she hushed the two. She didn't want Sam to be disturbed from his sleep, or even catch her looking at him.

Wes furrowed his brows, as he was puzzled. Then, Sylvia pointed at Sam, who was sleeping. It was at that moment that he understood why. Wes looked at Wayne, and signaled him to be quiet. The two of them tiptoed as they approached Sylvia, but Wayne, being clumsy as he is, bumped into a chair and it made a loud noise. Sylvia could only flinch as she lowered her head in dismay. Meanwhile. Sam was awoken by the noise.

Wes gave Wayne dagger looks. Wayne, on the other hand, looked away from Wes' icy stares. He looked at Sam, who was rubbing his eyes. "I'm sorry..." Wayne apologized as he bowed. "It's OK. I'm about to go out and buy something to eat." Sam said as he stood up from his seat. As Sylvia loooked back at him, she saw him already walking towards the door.

"Why shoudl you be so clumsy?" Wes asked Wayne as soon as Sam left. "I already said I'm sorry. It's not my fault that this desk is on the way." Wayne said. Then, he kicked the desk's foot, only to have his foot hurt. Both Sylvia and Wes laughed as he flinched in pain.

"Here's your breakfast." Wes told Sylvia as he put a paper bag on her table. "Thank you, Zheng." Sylvia said. Wes and Wayne took a seat next to Sylvia, and began to have their breakfast. "So, Sam is the reason why you didn't want to go us to buy breakfast huh?" Wayne teased Sylvia. Sylvia gave him an icy stare. "Wayne, stop teasing Sylvia." Wes reprimanded him. He looked sternly at Wayne. Sylvia was thankful that Wes made Wayne stop.  "I should be the one who should first." Wes said, breaking into a smile. Both Wayne and Wes laughed as they high fived. She  crossed her arms as she gave the two her deathly stars. "You two..." she hissed at them.

"Did we disturbed anything while we're away, huh?" Wayne again. "We actually disturbed her staring at him lovingly." Wes  said. The two  then laughed again. "Wes, if we didn't come, who knows what she might have done to Sam?"

"She might  have kissed him."

"While he's asleep!"

"We shouldn't have come right away, Wayne."

"Yeah, we should have given Sylvia a chance to be alone with her crush."

As soon as their laughter died, both Wes and Wayne looked at Sylvia, who was smiling evilly at them. "So, are you done making fun of me?" she asked them. Wes and Wayne looked at each other. They both know that when Sylvia smiles that way, it's payback time. "So, Wes, have you told Wayne how your nose bled yesterday from staring at our new neighbor's s?" she asked him. Wayne gasped as he looked at Wes. "I wasn't staring at Tia's s!" he told defensively. "Wes, you're a !" Wayne exclaimed. Wes shook his head as he looked at Wayne. "I am not!"

"And you were such a gentleman here in school..."

Wayne shook his head. "Such a disappointment, Wes." Wayne said. Wes looked at Sylvia. "I am not staring at Tia's s." he repeated. "Yeah. You're also looking at her legs. And I had to wipe the saliva that fell from your mouth while you're watching her." Sylvia said with a smile. Then, Sylvia turned to Wayne. "And Wayne," she began. "Have you told Wes that you have a crush on -"

"Wayne have a crush?" Diana asked as she approached them. She sat to her chair, which is next to Sylvia. "Who is Wayne's crush?" Diana asked again. Sylvia looked at Wayne and she could see how he is blushing. "You told Sylvia your crush, but not to me?" Wes asked. "You're betraying our friendship, Wayne!" he exclaimed. Wes covered his face, and faked a cry. Both of the girls laughed at what he did. "Hey, I didn't tell Sylvia who my crush is!" Wayne said in his defense.

"I think the important question here is, is the crush a guy or a girl?" Diana asked. "What do you mean?" Sylvia asked. "Because if it's a guy, then I know who is it." Diana looked at Wayne, and smiled. "Who?" Wes asked. "It's Wes!"

Both of the girls laughed. "I am not gay! I don't have a crush on Wes!" Wayne  said again defensively.  Wes then put his arm around Wayne, and smiled at him. "Wayne, I appreciate your sincerity,  but I like girls. I'm sorry." Wes told him. Wayne struggled to put his arm away from him. "I don't have a crush on you!"

What they didn't know is that from the door, Sam was silently looking at them.
