The doors bursts open as four nurses usher the wounded man towards the emergency room. Three more were seen and another wave of calls bombarded Baekhyun. He looks around and pants heavily as another nurse holds his arm and drags him towards another injured patient. He checks their stats and nods in relief towards the man that his injuries are just minor. And just as he was in the middle of giving instructions to the nurse, another patient came on the wheeled stretcher.

His heart stopped when he saw who it was.

“Kyungsoo.” A whisper before the information sunk in and he’s running towards him. Kyungsoo’s bloody form and his crisp white police uniform all soaked in blood. He’s panicking, he can feel it and he holds Kyungsoo’s hand, grasping his fingers desperately as he calls out his name. “Kyungsoo, Kyungsoo… please hold on.” But his boyfriend is unconscious and the oxygen mask is barely hanging there.

“I’ll take it from here.” Dr. Zhang, their chief in their department, said to him. “Go tend the others in section A. I’m counting on you.” He claps Baekhyun by the back before following inside.

And it was as if in slow motion, he stood there helplessly outside the emergency room. His phone kept on ringing and vibrating furiously in his coat pocket. He knows he should snap out of it because there were still people with minor injuries crowding over for treatment but all he could think of is Kyungsoo and his state and somehow it’s enough for him to break down.

Jongdae shouts. “Baekhyun!” Baekhyun snaps back to reality and looks at him in a daze. “What are you standing there for? Come on!”

He feels numb.

There was an ambush.

A hysteric man with bloodshot eyes and shaking form fires aimlessly at the police shouting that he’s never going back to prison again and that the drugs were not his. He’s high, everyone can tell. The only way to stop the man from going hysteric is injuring him so Kyungsoo shot him on the leg making the man fall. The man was apprehended and taken care of.

They never expected for reinforcements – the supplier of the drugs – a common mafia gang that’s composed of ten men coming. Kyungsoo braces himself for an all-out shooting. However, he got distracted when Namjoon got shot on the arm.
