Baekhyun smiles when he sees Jungsoo coming out of the house, running towards him with that cheeky smile on his face. He’s leaning against the car with a smile and bends down to get his son in his arms. He lifts him with a playful groan and presses his lips against chubby cheek. “Wah, my baby has grown so much! I don’t think I could carry you anymore!”

“Daddy, stop teasing me!” Jungsoo giggles, his little arms wrapped around his neck.

From the porch, he sees Kyungsoo standing there with arms folded against his chest. When Jungsoo turns to look at his other father, he smiles and waves in reply to his energetic son and simply watches from afar as Baekhyun settles Jungsoo on the passenger seat. As always, Baekhyun would flash him a sad smile before getting in the car and leaving to spend some time with his son.

It’s been like this ever since they got divorced three years ago.

It’s been three years since that dark night. That night that ended everything between them. Three years since Kyungsoo found out about Baekhyun’s affair with Kyungsoo’s best friend, Sehun, and the betrayal that slaps him across the face when Baekhyun even going as far as to defend his lover. Kyungsoo has gone cold then and despite still living with him for Jungsoo’s sake, has stopped acknowledging Baekhyun as his husband. Eventually, everyone has their limits and the betrayal and anger has had Kyungsoo enough.

The divorce papers that greet him that morning hits him like a freight train.

This leads to the situation they had now.

“How’s Dad been doing?” Baekhyun asks his son.

“He’s doing great, daddy.” Jungsoo grins up at him, fingers playing with the seatbelt strapped across him. “Did you see that picture I sent you on that phone you gave me, daddy?”

Ah, how can he forget? His son meant it as a way to show him how much he had fun, but Baekhyun finds himself staring at the picture with a solemn expression after seeing his ex-husband smiling brightly, an arm slinging over his shoulder from some orange-haired man Baekhyun grew to hate all throughout the years. Lately, this man keeps on appearing on every picture his son sends him.

“I did, baby.” Baekhyun forces himself a smile. “Was Lotte world fun?”

“Yup, Minseok-hyung said we’re going to Hongkong next month to Disneyland!” Jungsoo exclaims in joy, oblivious to his father’s sudden change of expression. “Isn’t it fun, daddy? Minseok-hyung said it is fun in there especially the buzz light year ride. I am so excited!”

Minseok. The name that never left his son’s mouth.

He remembers those times when Jungsoo was still a toddler. They were watching him sleep from the makeshift bed in the living room that they did with all the pillows and blankets they can find to make their baby comfortable. Kyungsoo tucked in his arms as the soft voices of Marlin and Dory talk on their TV. “When Jungsoo grows up, I want to let him see the world.”

“Ah, that’s so nice to hear.” Baekhyun looks up at the ceiling and chuckles softly. “I want it, too.”

“I want Jungsoo to experience the life that I didn’t get to experience in my childhood.” Kyungsoo whispers. “I want him to enjoy the life that’s been given to him.” Baekhyun knows of Kyungsoo’s woes for his husband was brought up from a family of poor background. He didn’t get to enjoy things unlike Baekhyun. And just hearing his resolve made Baekhyun fall just a little more in love.

He kisses the side of his head and grins. “And I’ll help you along the way.”

He remembers that memory. Sometimes he dreamt about it. That’s why he couldn’t help but feel bad and upset that their dream of travelling to different places with Jungsoo isn’t with him and Baekhyun couldn’t help but feel angry when he sees someone else taking his place. It’s supposed to be him in that picture not that Minseok guy.

“Who do you love more, though? Daddy or Minseok?” Baekhyun grins.

“Daddy of course!” Jungsoo shouts with arms up. “I love Daddy the most!”

“That’s my boy.” Baekhyun laughs.

“But whenever I ask Dad if he still loves Daddy, he doesn’t answer and gets upset.” Jungsoo said.

“Ah.” Baekhyun feels a pang on his chest. “I see.”
