“Okay boys…the break is coming up soon..all of you have your mics?” Hyunjoong asked looking at his dongsaengs. They all nodded. “Good. Okay so, Youngsaeng your up first…I’ll be singing ‘Thank You’ and then you’ll join in from the second paragraph” Hyunjoong instructed and Youngsaeng nodded

“Then I’ll be doing the title tracks of my last 2 albums” Youngsaeng continued “And then start on the rap for ‘Wassup’ and kyu will take over” Youngsaeng finished and waved at Kyu.

“I’ll do Wassup, Yesterday and then UR MAN when Baby and hyung are gonna join me” Kyu recited

“Then both Youngsaeng and Kyu will disperse and I’ll sing ending with KOKORO where Jungmin will join me” Hyungjun winked at Jungmin

“De and I will sing ‘Not Alone’ and then hyung’s gonna come up” Jungmin pointed to Hyunjoong

“Yes I’ll start off with Green Peas and all of us are gonna join on stage” Hyunjoong clapped as they ended the routine recitation “everyone’s fine?”

“DE!” the boys screamed in excitement

“Noona will be instructing us…just to be sure”Hyunjoong said “I am going up now”

“Testing testing…1,2,3” the co-ordi noona was looking at the mic controls with worry

“What’s wrong noona?” one of the crew members came forward seeing her in distress

“I dunno Robin…I don’t think the boys can hear me.” The co-ordi noona stated fidgeting with the controls “There must be something wrong with the machine…I can hear them but they cant hear me”

“Jongmallo?” Robin came forward and started to check the machine when suddenly a long irritating beep came out from the machine

“What did you do?” the co-ordi noona cried as the incessant beep continued

“I dunno I dunno…I was just looking around” Robin panicked

“Aaaargh!” the boys cried backstage “What happened to the mics?” Jungmin asked pulling his out when Hyunjoong entered backstage again

“Yours are out too?” Hyunjoong asked. “I’ll call noona”

Hyunjoong just took out his phone and was about to call the co-ordi noona when the beep stopped

“It stopped” Youngsaeng said

“Must be some technical issues—“

But Hyunjoong couldn’t finish when a familiar voice echoed in their ears

“Hello SS501…Can you recognize your old friend? Rather your old boss?” The DSP chairman voice rang in their mics.

The boys looked at each other in bewilderment. They got up and looked at co-ordi noona handling the mic control at the far end of the stadium. She was shocked too and shrugged her shoulders in panic

“How did you--?” Hyunjoong spoke through gritted teeth as he rushed backstage. The voice of the chairman echoed through all the walkie talkies of the crew. Dong Sun Jessica ran to the boys.

“Ouch! Where are your manners Hyunjoong-ah!” the chairman laughed evilly. “Is that how you greet your elders when you meet them after a long time?”

Hwangbo entered backstage along with Jihoo just then and stood rooted to their spot.

“What do you want? How did you intervene with our system?” Hyunjoong  cried

“Hyunjoong-ah… Hyunjoong-ah! You always ask the wrong questions…”

The voice of the chairman echoed breaking the eerie silence of the backstage. Hwangbo looked at Youngsaeng who was sweating profusely. She was herself doing no better. got dry like sandpaper, her entire being froze.

Hyunjoong was trembling. He knew the DSP chairman more than anyone-he knew what he was capable of. He knew why he was calling—he would never let SS501 comeback. But what he was fearing was what he did to ensure that they don’t comeback.

“Why…”Hyunjoong exhaled, his voice shaking as he is overwhelmed with fear and fury “Why are you calling?”

“Aaah…finally your asking the right question Joongie!” the chairman laughed “What I want is simple. I don’t want SS501 to comeback. Not now. Not ever”

“Yah! What makes you think we’ll keep your request?” Jungmin yelled

“We have prepared hard for this…nothing’s gonna break us apart!” Hyungjun cried

“Aigoo aigoo aigoo! You people are still the same immature kiddish! Joongie, I see, you haven’t taught your dongsaengs much in these years have you?”  the chairman hissed “Anyways…you say…you wont listen to my request…what about the request of someone you all love…specially Hyunjoong-ah..can you ignore her request…rather her plea?”

There was pin drop silence as everyone waited for the chairman to reveal what he meant

“AAAAAAAAAH! HEEEEEEELP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING????? LEAVE ME! HYUNJOONG-AH!!!!” Somin’s cry echoed in the backstage.

Hyunjoong limbs became jelly. Others rushed to his side to prevent him from collapsing on the floor.
