Author’s POV:

Lying on the bed that night, Kris was in deep thought as he waited for Jessica to come out of the bathroom. He unconsciously played with the couple ring on his finger. Slipping the silver band off his finger, he examined it closely. His lips formed a happy smile when he traced over the engravings ‘K & J’ on the titanium ring. Twirling the ring around for a moment, he let out a breath of courage before sliding the ring back onto his finger and getting up off the bed.

Jessica happened to walk out of the bathroom the same time Kris had gotten up. “Oppa, where are you going?” she blinked at him inquiringly.

“I’m just going to talk to my mom for a few minutes. I’ll be back before you get into bed.” Kris informed, flashing a smile her way.

Running her hand through her smooth hair, Jessica nodded her head. “Okay.”

Kris caught sight of the shiny silver band on her ring finger that matched his. A grin formed on his face before placing a kiss on her cheek. He made his way out of the room and towards his parents’ bedroom.

Jessica pursed her lips before flinging her arms back and forth on her side. She let out a sigh before plopping herself down on the bed. Breathing in the familiar scent from the bed, she couldn’t help but smile. It smelled just like Kris.

After a moment of lying on the bed, she sat up and blinked around the quiet room, wondering why Kris hasn’t come back yet. She was bored without Kris there to talk to her. Twiddling with her fingers in boredom, she then grabbed the remote control for the television. Turning the television on, she thought she could distract herself for a few moments while she waited for Kris to come back.

Once the screen lit up and the audio was emitted, Jessica frowned. She had forgotten that they were in China at the moment and everything she would watch and hear on the television would be in mandarin. A sigh escaped from and she turned off the TV before tossing the remote off to the side. Falling back on the bed, she stared at the ceiling in dullness.

Ten minutes passed and there was still no sign of Kris. Jessica sat up and pouted. She stared intently at the door, waiting for it to fling open and reveal Kris. When five minutes passed without a single movement of the door, Jessica gave up.

Deciding to visit Tiffany and Krystal in the guest bedroom, Jessica happily skipped her way out of the room and into the hallway. Knowing that the guest bedroom was all the way down the other side of the hall, Jessica quickly walked over, wanting some company.

Just as she passed by Wu parents’ bedroom, she halted in her steps after hearing sobbing. Her eyebrows scrunched in concern and she couldn’t help but tiptoe her way back a couple steps. She leaned in close to the door, wanting to hear what was going on.

“YiFan…” Mommy Wu was sniffling, sounding like she was crying very hard. “You’re not joking right now, are you?” Her voice was as if she was shocked.

“No I’m not, mom.” Kris’s voice sounded out. “I’m completely serious.”

Jessica quickly pulled her ear away from the door. She realized that she was eavesdropping on a private conversation. Shaking her head, she quietly scurried away from the door. Her guilty conscience urged her to hear no more of the personal talk.

Scuttling back into Kris’s bedroom, she shut the door slowly to ensure silence. Turning off the lights, she then hurriedly ran towards her bed and huddled under the duvet. Being the innocent person that she is, she tried to forget the part of the conversation she heard. She shut her eyes and shook her head, but to no avail. Her mind keeps replaying the words that she overheard.

Jessica’s face contorted of confusion. Why was Mommy Wu crying? What did Kris tell his parents? Did something bad happen? Worried thoughts flooded her head and caused her forehead to crease into a concerned expression. She heaved a deep breath. She’ll just have to wait until Kris comes back so she could ask him.

Two minutes turned into an additional twenty minutes. Jessica waited silently in bed for Kris. She became bothered by the fact that Kris was taking long. Just what were they talking about? Jessica was extremely curious, but she knew she shouldn’t have even heard the personal conversation in the first place so she was in no place to even ask Kris about it. Jessica thought deeper. Kris wouldn’t hide anything from her, she was sure of it. She figured that Kris would tell her as soon as he came back.

Snuggling up under the duvet, she balled herself up as the mattress felt rather cold lying there by herself. Hearing the door click open, Jessica immediately sat up with the duvet draped over her head making her look cute even in the dark.

Kris couldn’t help but grin at her as he shut the door behind him. “Sorry, did you wait long?” he crawled onto the bed with an apologetic look.

As soon as he sat down on the mattress, Jessica immediately hugged onto him. “My angry bird took forever.” She pouted.

Kris wrapped his arms around her waist and lied down on the bed. “Sorry,” he kissed her forehead. “I was talking to my parents.”

Blinking up at him, Jessica figured it was time to shed some light on her curiosity. “What did you guys talk about? Was there something wrong?”

Only shaking his head, Kris didn’t reveal much. “Nothing much. Mom is just a little saddened about the fact that we have to go back to Korea soon.” He semi-lied but continued to play it cool in front of Jessica.

“Oh,” Jessica believed him. “Well I’m going to sad to leave her too.” She frowned.

Of course, Kris felt bad for lying to her, but it had to be done.

“Well, we still have four more days. We can make the best of it.” Kris gave a small smile. “Let’s go sleep now.” He shifted, thinking that Jessica was going to move off of him.

Jessica only clung onto him like a koala with her arms around his neck and her legs to his sides. Kris gave her an amused look, finding her adorable for wanting to play around even before they sleep. Sitting up, Kris only grinned at her. Jessica was still hugging onto him tightly, this time wrapping her legs around his waist.

“My aegi is really being an aegi right now.” Kris chuckled, nuzzling into her neck.

Jessica leaned back and faced him. “Let’s eat ice cream.” She suddenly suggested. “I want to eat ice cream.” She blinked innocently, feeling the sudden craving.

Kris’s eyes narrowed on her before he pecked her lips with approval. It was the least he could do for her considering that she had waited for him for a long time.

About to stand up from the bed, Kris realized that Jessica had no intentions of letting go of him. A smile spread across his face and he stood up, having Jessica still hugging onto him like a koala. Wrapping his arms around her rear, he supported her while he continued to walk.

Jessica unknowingly turned red from the contact. Kris was touching her again. Her lips formed a pout as she rested her chin on his shoulder. Thank goodness Kris couldn’t see her face right now or else he’d even more.

“There should be some ice cream in the freezer. You’re mom told me earlier.” Jessica informed with a whisper as Kris made his way down the stairs, not wanting to wake anyone up.

“Got it.” Kris replied, patting her lightly with a playful grin on his face.

Jessica’s eyes widened and she buried her face into Kris’s shoulder. “Stop touching me there~” she whined, feeling extremely embarrassed.

Kris pretended to be clueless to her shyness and started to . “I don’t quite understand what you mean.” A smirk slid onto his face.

“You know what I mean…” she murmured onto his shoulder, her face feeling extremely hot.

“Oh, you meant this?” Kris patted her lightly again, making Jessica squirm in his arms and nod her head silently. “Hm, but I happen to like doing this.” Instead of taking his hand away from her rear this time, he kept it there.

Jessica wiggled around in his arms, but couldn’t break out of his hold. Her face was beaming a darker shade of red and she was becoming extremely shy. Slapping his arm, Jessica punished him before grabbing his hand and putting it on her back instead.

Reaching the kitchen, Kris was about to turn on the lights, but Jessica stopped him. She didn’t want to show him her flushed face in direct lighting, otherwise she would be teased again. In the end, they ended up with having a few lights on in the kitchen after Kris proved the point that it would be dangerous if they did not have any source of light when walking in a dark kitchen.

Setting Jessica down on the kitchen counter, Kris couldn’t help his smile when he saw her cherry red face being revealed in front of him. Placing a kiss on her lips, he then proceeded towards the refrigerator.
