"The Best Hugs"

Let's be honest. 

They missed it a lot. They missed Hakyeon's hugs a lot. They missed his affections, his warmth and his everything about him. The oldest of the group used to do many of those things, hugs and even kisses from time to time. While they were still just a bunch of boys, they were very against it because they thought of it as cringey and uncomfortable especially when there were so many eyes on them. Even when they were off stage and simply back at their dorms, Hakyeon would cling onto them. Whenever they were sitting around in the living room to watch TV, Hakyeon would lie on their laps like a child. All of these things were the things Hakyeon used to do.

But that was only when they were young and immature. Eventually, Hakyeon matured, well they all did but they matured in opposite directions.

Hakyeon grew older, he knew of his responsibilities and he did all that he could in order to make the group well-known in the industry. On the other hand, the others no longer wanted to grow up. They wanted to go back in time and remain as just a bunch of boys. It wasn't because they wanted to be younger or anything, they're still young but it's because they missed the hugs Hakyeon used to give them.

As time went by, the five members of the group grew to miss that warmth they all have received at one point. 

They still act as if they didn't like it when people are watching but to be honest, they felt like they were in the heavens whenever Hakyeon was 'forced' to hug them.

It's as if time went backwards, as if they were young again simply from the oldest's hugs. 

They weren't just any ordinary hugs, they were hugs from their beloved leader.

After a long day in Singapore, the six members finally got back to their hotels in one piece. They were tired and were rather sleepy after the long day. The only thing that should have been on their minds is going to bed especially since they have an early flight the next morning. But, that wasn't the case at all.

"Good night guys," Hakyeon said as he was going to go back to his hotel room.

"W-wait hyung," Jaehwan pulled him back, causing the other four to shift their attention to the two.

"What's wrong?"

"Can I stay in your room tonight?"

"W-what?!" the other four were all alarmed at the same time.

"Why?" Hakyeon questioned.

"I just want to, can't I?"

"Well no, you can-" 

"You can't!" the four said at the same time and seperated Jaehwan from the leader immediately.

"Why not~" the cute main vocalist whined.

"Because," Hongbin said without any reason prepared.

"Hakyeon-hyung is tired, leave him alone. Go back to your own room," Taekwoon pinched Jaehwan's ears to scold the younger.

"Ow~" Jaehwan rubbed the pain away, "I can take Hakyeon-hyung's fatigue away so that should be no problem at all, right?"

"I guess?" Hakyeon titled his head.

"No way are you going to stay in Hakyeon's room alone. I won't allow it," Wonshik intervened.

"What are you? My mom?" Hakyeon looked at the younger ridiculously.

"If Jaehwan-hyung is sleeping in your room, then I'm coming too."

"Me too!" Hongbin said.

"Me three!" Hyuk raised his hands.

Taekwoon pulled at Hakyeon's shirt and pointed to himself, murmuring in an inaudible voice, "me as well."

Hakyeon looked at the five of them ridiculously but he was at a lost. It was rare, no it was more than just rare, it was the first time that all five of them would care to share a room with Hakyeon. Whenever they go overseas, they would always try to avoid sharing the same room with the leader. So what changed?

As Hakyeon went into the showers to get washed up first, the five of them sat around the small bed and glaring intensely at one another.

"So let's decide who's going to sleep on Hakyeon's side?" Taekwoon said.

"Okay," everyone nodded. "Rock, paper, scissors!"

A childish game to deciding the winners. A silly game in fact but it was the perfect game for the immature bunch. But even after ten minutes of playing the game, they were unable to decide a winner at all, who knew the simple game could become so intense?

"I missed Hakyeon-hyung's hugs," Jaehwan said as he gave up and just laid on the bed. "As I thought, they're the best."

"Don't you get them enough still? Especially during our concerts," Hongbin asked.

"I guess but it's just not the same... I mean I love the hugs during the concerts too but something about earlier... like I was trying to hide it but I really liked the hugs," Jaehwan smiled, thinking about how silly he was feeling about himself.

"I agree, it was nice wasn't it?" Taekwoon smiled as well and laid down next to the other vocalist. "It's been too long since he's hugged us so tightly."

"Hakyeon-hyung's hugs always makes you feel safe and warm as if no one could hurt you, doesn't it?" Hyuk giggled. 

"Mhmm. Simply the best, but we can't tell him that can we?" Wonshik laughed. "He'll be way over his head if he knew."

"Agreed," Hongbin laughed next to him. "But it's definitely nice. His hugs really saved us all... if it wasn't for hyung, I wouldn't have been here."

"Yeah. He's always been like that since we first met, always clinging onto us and being persistent about sticking together. It was his persistence that we're all together still," Taekwoon said.

"If it wasn't for him, we would've disbanded ages ago. Who would've thought that we've been together this long in the first place? I mean, look at us. We're all so different from each other. Our tastes and styles are completely different," the rapper pointed out.

"Yet, he was still able to bring us all together," Hyuk commented. "If he didn't held onto us back then, we would've been separated from one another. We would've lived separate lives and who knows what would have become of us if it wasn't for Hakyeon-hyung."

"It's strange isn't it? That something like a hug could change our lives so much," Taekwoon said.

"You sounded really cheesy just now, hyung," Hongbin laughed. 

"Heh. I know."

Honestly, they really did miss it a lot. They don't say it or show it but they loved Hakyeon's hugs the most. It made them feel special, it made them feel like they belong and it made them who they are today. They bonded together and shared their lives with one another, much closer than any family because of one very persistent leader. Though they don't say how much they love Hakyeon, they still care for the older greatly. They would do anything to protect Hakyeon in return and if anyone tries to hurt their precious leader, they would do anything to defend the older just as the older did for them. 

They've matured in many ways yet at times, they didn't want to grow up because growing up meant that they might drift away from one another. All the memories that they've made together, they were afraid that they'd be lost as they continue to grow up. Growing up is a scary thing because they're afraid that their leader would be out of their reach before they know it. That's why, the hugs that they received tonight was extra special. 

If only Hakyeon knew of it.

Hakyeon got out from the showers after drying his hair and putting on some clean clothes to sleep in. But as he walked out into the bedroom, he couldn't help but smiled at the scene he saw. All five of s, grown up men, sleeping on the small cramped bed together as one. He couldn't help but feel a little tingle in his heart as he saw their peaceful sleeping faces.

They're really precious after all. 

They're really the people who Hakyeon cares for the most in the world.

But the problem is, where is he going to sleep tonight?
