"L and R" 

(Part II)

(This is the part 2 of the previous chapter but also a prequel to it...)

Hakyeon had a rather long day today. His schedules were tight going from one place to the next but it was all going to be worth it in the end.

However, amongst his busy schedule, he couldn’t help but worry for s especially the subunit between Taekwoon and Wonshik.

Wonshik have been rather quietly lately and whenever Hakyeon asks him what’s wrong, the younger would just say everything was fine. Even though it was obvious that nothing was fine at all. Hakyeon knew s too well to realize what they were hiding something from him.

That being said, he knew exactly what was on Wonshik’s mind and why the younger was worrying so much. It’s all because of Taekwoon being hospitalized in the middle of his promotions.

Even after his examinations, Taekwoon still insisted on attending the final live performance for their fans. It was a wonderful thing to do and it was a promise the vocalist wishes to keep at all cost. But the cost was great and now, he had to stay in the hospital even longer in order to receive his treatment.

Hakyeon let out a deep sigh as he stood in front of Taekwoon’s room.

He rushed to the hospital right after work and he hasn’t seen the vocalist even once since the latter was hospitalized. Hakyeon felt apologetic so he decided to make a late-night visit.

He slide the door open carefully in case the latter was sleeping but Taekwoon wasn’t at all. Instead, he was sitting on his bed and watching videos on his phone.

That made Hakyeon sigh even more as he shook his head.

“Jung Taekwoon, what time do you think it is right now?” Hakyeon asked with his hands on his hips.

Taekwoon gulped a bit knowing that he was about to be in trouble.

“One….” He silently answered the leader.

“Yes, it’s one in the morning. Why aren’t you asleep yet?”

“Erm…” Taekwoon was lost for explanations.

“The doctor told you to stay put and get some rest. Do you not what to get better?”

“I do. I really do,” Taekwoon confirmed, “but I couldn’t sleep.”

“Even if you can’t sleep, you should try to lay down and rest your eyes a bit. Staying up and watching whatever you are watching on your phone is bad for your health,” Hakyeon lectured him.

“I was just rewatching your performance for Soribada awards, that’s all.”

“Oh?”

Hakyeon went closer towards Taekwoon and sat next to the vocalist on his bed as he peeked onto Taekwoon’s phone screen.

“Sorry I couldn’t be there at the last minute,” Taekwoon apologized.

“It’s not your fault. We understand it. Plus, your health is way more important than some award show,” Hakyeon patted Taekwoon on the head.

“But still, I should have been there with you guys.”

“And we would have loved if you were there. Taekwoon-ah, please be more careful with your health. I’m begging you, it hurts me to see you strung up in IV and in a place that only smells of medicine,” Hakyeon told him truthfully. “Why didn’t you watch out for yourself? It’s not like you don’t know how weak your body can get at times…”

“I don’t know. I just… didn’t want it to seem as if I’m not working hard enough especially whenever everyone have been looking forward to this comeback,” Taekwoon said. “Even Wonshik was really looking forward to performing the songs together on stage. I let him down…”

“You didn’t let him down. You did your best. The both of you worked so hard for this comeback.”

“But we didn’t win anything… I thought if we won a trophy or something, then he wouldn’t have to blame himself so much.”

“We know Wonshik can be really hard on himself whenever he composes but that doesn’t mean you should forget about your health as well. The both of you are ruining your bodies and health.”

“I just… I felt like I should be responsible for looking out for him, me being the older one of the unit and all…” Taekwoon looked down on his bed as he fiddled nervously with his hands.

Hakyeon could see how dejected the vocalist have become because he was hospitalized and the fact that he couldn’t attend any of the future activities with the group until he got better. He was sorry for worrying other people and blames himself for being sick.

“I should have been more careful,” Taekwoon continues. “It’s all my fa-“

Just then, Hakyeon clapped his hands onto Taekwoon’s face.

“Yah!” Hakyeon raised his voice that made Taekwoon jolt in surprise. “Nothing is your fault! Stop blaming yourself. Both you and Wonshikkie needs to stop apologizing for things you didn’t do wrong or can’t control. You’re right about needing to watch out for your health more but it’s not your fault for being sick either. You worked hard, the both of you did. No matter what the results were, your efforts are never put to waste and all of us can see that. Our fans appreciate everything you did and you tried your best to keep your promise with them.”

“Really?”

“Of course! Have I ever lied to you or any of the members before?” Hakyeon asked.

Taekwoon shook his head, “never.”

“Exactly. So, listen to me just once more okay? Get some rest and come back to us as a healthy and energetic Jung Taekwoon. Being on a stage where a member is missing… I don’t like that one bit. So, get better so that we can perform together as six, okay?”

Taekwoon nodded obediently in agreement.

A/N: I honestly like writing OT3s a lot and Hakyeon being that middle point or the one that balances the group. Hence, this two part one shot :)
