"Puppy Proposals"

Hakyeon was having a peaceful day, no one was disturbing his peace as he stayed on the sofa and watched his favorite movie. Everyone was out and he was left alone to guard the dorms but he didn’t mind it. The members have been rather rowdy lately and wouldn’t stop pestering him for the slightest things. So when they all went out for the day, Hakyeon found peace alone. 

He got time to called his parents back home and texted his friends too, to see what they were up to on such a fine day. It was great. It was nice and quiet, even the weather was nice enough outside to look at. He just didn’t want to be under the sun but rather in front of their expensive air conditioner. 

“This is the life~” he said aloud as he rolled around in his sofa. 

He scrolled through his social media and noticed that Taekwoon just updated his status. 

The same aged vocalist got a puppy it seems, just like how he’s been nagging to get one since Wonshik got his French Pup. 

“What kind of dog is that?” Hakyeon wondered as he looked at Taekwoon’s selca. “Siwol?”

Hakyeon bursted our laughing 

“His naming sense ... of course he would name it October,” he continued laughing. 

[Cute puppy. What breed is that?] He sent a message to Taekwoon.

In an instant, Taekwoon replied as if he’s been waiting for the message all along.

[It’s a Bedlington Terrier. So cute right?] the vocalist replied.

[Looks like a sheep. Hehe.]

[I know right? That’s why it’s cute.]

Just through the messages alone, Hakyeon could tell how excited and happy Taekwoon was about the new puppy. 

For the the next few days, Taekwoon kept hovering over Hakyeon and grabbing him to play with Siwol around the dorms. The family had a new member in the house after all.

”Hyung! Why don’t you ever play with Eongdongie like you do with Siwol?” Wonshik got irritated at Hakyeon cuddling with Siwol next to Taekwoon, who was leaning in closely to the both of them as well.

The two of them along with Siwol looked like a photo and the other members were not having any of it. They felt left out.

”But you never bring him back home,” Hakyeon told the younger.

”That’s because I was worried that no one would be around to take care of it and that it might make a mess around the dorms,” Wonshik defended. 

“It’s not fair hyung, not too long ago you kept talking about how cute OnePunch is and now you’re all over Siwol? OnePunch would be sad,” Hyuk pouted as he was talking about the puppy back home.

”He’s still cute. I never said he isn’t but I’ve only ever seen pictures of him since you never bring him over,” the leader was confused by where all the sudden arguing was coming from.

”You guys are so childish,” Taekwoon interrupted, “being jealous of Siwol.”

The vocalist leaned closer to the leader while the rest of the members were watching. He brought Siwol to Hakyeon’s lap and slid his arms behind Hakyeon’s waist, making the leader flinch a bit after realizing how close they were getting to each other. 

Taekwoon smirked at the younger members. Who’s the childish one really?

”Childish? You’re the worst of us all!” Wonshik glared at the so-called leader of their subunit and second oldest of the group. “Get your hands away from Hakyeon-hyung!”

”Nope. Siwol says no,” Taekwoon said even though the puppy was just idling on Hakyeon’s lap quietly. 

“You’re using Siwol against us. Not fair at all,” Jaehwan whined. 

Just then, he walked behind the two older ones and separated them by force. He grabbed Hakyeon from behind and pulled him away. The cute main vocal picked Siwol up from Hakyeon’s lap and placed it back in his owner’s lap instead.

”Ya! What are you doing?” Taekwoon was confused by Jaehwan and now his hands were occupied with his puppy in his arms. 

“Hakyeon-Hyung~~~” Jaehwan ignored Taekwoon and started to whine adorably. 

“W-what?” Hakyeon stuttered since Jaehwan suddenly attacked him with some of his lethal aegyo. 

Jaehwan laid his head on Hakyeon’s lap suddenly and curled himself up. He snuggled and tuck himself comfortably in his position, shocking the rest of the members who were watching on the side.

”Woof!” Jaehwan barked adorably and even made his fist curl up like puppy paws. He was pretending to be a puppy for the leader.

”What are you doing Jaehwan-ah?” Hakyeon was quite taken back from Jaehwan the puppy. 

“Woof~” Jaehwan barked in response and suddenly, he leaned in towards Hakyeon and the older’s puffy cheeks. “I don’t need a puppy because I’m already hyung’s personal puppy hehehe~.”

Hakyeon blushed red and all was too shock to speak. But the dog owners were not having it. Both Taekwoon and Wonshik grabbed the puppy vocalist by his feet and dragged him away on the floor. 

“Get away from Hakyeon,” Taekwoon demanded. 

“You’re too dangerous for him,” Wonshik nodded in agreement with Taekwoon.

”Me? Dangerous? The two of you would probably bite him all over if no one was watching. You’re the vicious ones here, a bunch of wolves always eyeing on Hakyeon-Hyung. I’m the cute and innocent one,” Jaehwan stuck out his tongue and teased the two members. 

As the three of them were arguing, Hongbin finally found the timing to intervene as he tried to remain quiet the entire time.

”Hyung,” Hongbin quietly called Hakyeon for attention. “I bet you’re more of a cat person than a dog person aren’t you?”

”Huh? Where’s that coming from?” Hakyeon tilted his head. “I like both, I think?”

”I know you long enough to know you like cats more than dogs,” the younger was confident. 

“And what does that have to do with any of this? Don’t you see the mess that’s happening right now?”

”Well, I was thinking about something for a long time. I think it’s time.”

”For what?”

”To have a family of our own,” Hongbin proposed.

”What?!” The rest of the members caught Hongbin’s proposal at the last minute. 

“Well, me and Hakyeon-hyung have been together for nine years now. We’re quite steady and this relationship is obviously going to go on for a lifetime so we shouldn’t wait anymore. Let’s live happily together hyung,” Hongbin grabbed both of Hakyeon’s hands and proposed while completely ignoring the rest of the members.

Hakyeon’s face got even redder.

”W-what are you trying to say Kong-ah?” he couldn’t contain how nervous he felt especially since Hongbin looked so earnest. 

“We can be happy together. You, me and a few kittens. Don’t you think that’ll be cuter instead? I’ve already told you I’m willing to follow you for a lifetime and I’m serious about it. I’m a man of my words and I never take it back. So what do you say hyung? Let’s live happily ever after, the two of us and an adorable family of kittens,” Hongbin smiled so brightly with his two dimples that Hakyeon’s heart wavered for a second.

”Objection!” Both Jaehwan and Hyuk raised the hands. 

“I’m against it too!” Taekwoon said. “If anything, Hakyeon should live with me and Siwol forever instead!” 

“No way! Me and Eongdongie is a way better option. Choose me instead hyung!” The rapper pushed the others aside to make him first in line.

”Although OnePunch isn’t mine, we can still be happy together hyung,” Hyuk said. “Puppies or kitties, bunnies or whatever you want, as long as you’re with me, I’m sure we’ll be happy no matter what.”

One by one, the members were lining up to propose their future to Hakyeon. As troubled as Hakyeon was, he didn’t mind it. He felt a small bliss of happiness inside of him and he has to admit, no matter who it was, his heart would always waver and skip a mile. That’s how much he loves them and how much he cares for them equally.

”Let’s live happily together as six okay?” Hakyeon proposed instead. “All of us forever, with Siwolie, Eongdongie, kittens or puppies or whatever, let’s be happy together forever okay?” He suggested with a warm and sincere smile that no one could object.

And hence, the six of them lived happily ever after.

At least for now until the kids start fighting again over some nonsense.
