"Me or That Guy"

Hakyeon had a day off and was the only one guarding the house. All the other members were also on break but unlike Hakyeon, they all went out to their friends and family.

He would have gone back home too like the rest but he was tired of leaving the dorms so often for their schedules that he didn't even want to get near the entrance doors.

Hakyeon went into his kitchen and made a bowl of ramyun before heading to his room. 

This is so bland, he sighed deeply after taking in the first bite. Slowly and painfully, he finished his food and set the bowl aside to wash later.

He grabbed a book and flopped onto his bed to read but after a few pages, he got bored of it as well.

He took his phone and scrolled through his texts and group chats. He knew everyone was busy but he felt like trying anyways.

Hakyeon: [Anyone want to have a date with this lovely hyung on this fine day?]

No replies. As he had expected, none of s responded since they were all busy doing their own things.

"What to do~" he asked himself as he looked at the time slowly going by. "Maybe I should just sleep for a week until breaks are over."

He went back out into the living room and flopped on his favorite sofa while he put on a movie to watch. The movie was good but it didn't last forever. After another long hour passing by, he turned off the movie and sighed once more.

"Maybe I should call Minhyuk or Wongeun to hang out instead?" 

He texted both of his friends to see what they were up to but unfortunately, Minhyuk was already occupied with work unlike Hakyeon who was lazing around.

"Where are you right now?" Hakyeon called Wongeun.

"Finishing up the last scene for that drama I told you about," Wongeun picked up the phone quickly.

"Oh! Are you free afterwards then?" 

"Yeah, why?" 

"Want to hang out?"

"You have a day off? Lucky."

"Yeah... and I'm dying from boredom. No one's at home except me!" Hakyeon whined. 

"Sure, I'll ask my manager after to see if I'm free to go out okay?"

"Yay!"

Hakyeon jumped off the sofa in excitement and hurried to get himself cleaned up. He ruffled through his closet to find a set of clothes to change into and was ready to leave home at any time. 

Then he received a message from Wongeun telling Hakyeon to meet him at the studio first before they make any plans. Though Hakyeon wasn't quite fond of stepping into anywhere work-related, he was still excited to finally being able to see people. 

But just as he was putting his shoes on, the front door opened. 

"Hyung? Are you going out?" The boy came in shocked to see his leader right in front of him.

"Hyogi? Are you back? I thought you said you'd be out all day with your friends?" Hakyeon was confused.

"That was the inital plans we had."

"Huh?"

"You sent that message earlier in the group chat remember?"

"Message? Oh!" Hakyeon finally remembers, "but none of you guys responded so I thought you were all too busy."

"I was," Hyuk told him. "So where are you going now?"

"Wongeun is finishing up his work and said we can probably hang out near the broadcasting station between his breaks."

Hyuk's facial expression suddenly changed. He suddenly looked stern and possibly a bit, annoyed.

"Wongeun again?" He asked in a low monotoned voice. 

"Hmm?"

"I thought you didn't like going anywhere work-related places on your day offs?" The younger asked him.

"I don't but I'm bored and have nothing to do anyways."

"..."

"Hyogi?" Hakyeon began to worry.

"Then stay home like you usually do."

"But it's so boring that it's been driving me insane!" Hakyeon exaggerated.

"You're always hanging out with that guy lately and even went to Osaka with him on your birthday."

"Well, none of you guys were available at that time so he asked to go on a trip to celebrate it with me."

Hyuk started to mumble something but Hakyeon couldn't make out what the younger was trying to say at all.

"Hyogi?"

"I was free," Hyuk finally said. "I told you I was free didn't I?"

"You weren't. You had exams to study for remember?" 

"So?"

"So... you were too busy just like everyone else."

"But I could have taken a few days off of studying and go to Osaka with you instead!" Hyuk finally raised his voice. "I can always catch up with studying since the exams weren't until two weeks later. But you went out to travel with Wongeun-hyung instead!"

"I just didn't want to interrupt you... sorry," Hakyeon had no idea why but he couldn't help it except apologize. "Did you wanted to go to Osaka with me?"

Hyuk nodded. 

"Our birthdays are only a few days apart. We used to celebrate our birthdays together as if we had the same days... but you left on your own instead."

"But I came back and we got to celebrate it together afterwards right?" 

"That's not the same!" 

The tall and broad maknae looked upset at Hakyeon. The leader had no clue that Hyuk was thinking like that the entire time. Hakyeon reached his arms to pat Hyuk on the head.

"Sorry, I should have asked you but I thought you didn't like hanging out with me," Hakyeon said.

Hyuk pouted a bit and grabbed Hakyeon for a hug. 

"I don't hate hanging out with you hyung. I just don't like how you ask others first before you ask me. And you even asked the members in a group chat... you could've called me."

"Wait, is that why you didn't respond?" 

Hyuk nodded in embarrassment while hiding his face in Hakyeon's small, narrow shoulders.

Hakyeon chuckled a bit while thinking how such a big child was sulking in front of him. He held Hyuk tightly and rubbed his back to sooth the younger’s annoyance.

"You've grown so big," Hakyeon giggled.

"You're just small," Hyuk teased back. 

"I guess~"

"So you're going to cancel it right?" He asked.

"Cancel what?"

"The date with Wongeun-hyung!" 

"Well, it wasn't exactly a date..."

"Cancel it," Hyuk demanded. "Me or that hyung?"

"Do I really have to choose? I like you both," Hakyeon was trying to annoy the younger on purpose since he's never seen Hyuk act so childishly before.

Hyuk grumbled a bit and grabbed Hakyeon even tightly. He's not giving up and he's definitely not planning on letting Hakyeon go to see Wongeun either.

Hakyeon gave a surprise peck on Hyuk's cheeks and couldn't help his laughter. 

"Of course I like you better."
