“It’s Okay to Cry”

Hongbin was out all week for his drama filming and though it was fun hanging out with the cast members, he suddenly thought about home. And recently, he thought about it more after reading one of Hakyeon’s interview. Usually, Hongbin never reads any of the interviews for s because he was confident that he knew s more than the answer to a question in a magazine.

But he never expected to read something that would make him feel almost guilty for never noticing.

Hakyeon mentioned in one of the interviews that there would be times he would suddenly want to cry but immediately held back his tears after hearing Hongbin come back home…

“Why’s he such an idiot?” Hongbin said to himself as he was getting changed to his casual clothes. “As if we don’t know already that he’s a crybaby… who’s he trying to fool?”

But I’m also an idiot for not noticing… and I’m supposed to be the one who knows him best.

Hongbin thought about all the times when he got back home and saw Hakyeon sitting by himself in the living room. Every time the younger asked what the leader was doing, it would always be the same answer - watching a drama. But could it have been something more? Now that he thought about it, there were times when the older’s eyes looked a bit red and watery but Hakyeon would also say that he was just sleepy and tired. Hongbin trusted the leader and he really thought that was the case. But what if it wasn’t?

Everything bugged Hongbin a lot when it comes to Hakyeon especially whenever he discovers something he never thought that Hakyeon was thinking of.

“What a liar. What’s he saying about us talking and revealing everything there is to know about each other? This time and also last time too…”

Hongbin recalls the time when the six of them gathered together to celebrate their anniversary where suddenly while everyone was revealing some of their thoughts on camera, Hakyeon revealed that though the members were his blessings, they were also his burden. He felt like giving up many times in the past as being the leader of VIXX and that revelation shocked the members as well. After that night, Hakyeon didn’t say much about what he said and the members were too afraid to ask any further.

“Were we really do hard to handle?” Hongbin asked himself. “I mean, I admit I can a little at times but it’s not like I can be clingy or cheesy…”

Hongbin grunted the entire time as he made his way back to the dorms. It was a long day where his mind was distracted by thinking about Hakyeon.

I can’t wait til I get back to my bed, Hongbin decided that it was the first thing he was going to do as soon as he got back home.

But as he did and passed by the living room, he saw Hakyeon sitting alone watching TV on the sofa.

Hongbin’s heart jumped.

“W-welcome back, Kong-ah,” Hakyeon said in a surprise. “How’s work?”

“Good…” Hongbin said but he finally noticed something. Hakyeon’s eyes were a bit watery…

Hongbin couldn’t help but feel uneasy and without any hesitation, he approached the older and held Hakyeon tightly.

“If you want to cry, just so it,” Hongbin suddenly said. “What’s the point of hiding it? Why do you have to hide the fact that you’re sad? Who’s the one that always said that it’s okay to cry? If you’re going to cry, just do it!”

“H-huh?” Hakyeon felt baffled at the sudden affections from the younger. “What are you talking about?”

“Stop lying. I know about it! That you always try not to cry in front of us anymore! You said so yourself! Aren’t we family? Can’t you trust us?” Hongbin said.

“I’m not crying though?” Hakyeon said.

“Stop lying. Just cry!”

“Um… do you want me to cry that much?” Hakyeon asked.

“Well, no! I hate it when you cry but I hate it more when you feel like you can’t cry in front of us!”

Hongbin shouted on top of his lungs as he held Hakyeon tightly in his arms.

Hakyeon let out a sigh in defeat and wrapped his arms around the younger tightly.

“Thanks Kong-ah. I’ll keep that in mind,” Hakyeon said with a smile. “But this time, I’m not crying.”

“Huh?”

“Do you know what time it is?” Hakyeon asks and points at the clock. “It’s 2am already. I was just fell asleep on the sofa earlier and was yawning after I heard the door open.”

“Oh….” Hongbin realizes and finally let go. “Wait, then why are you up so late past your bedtime?”

“What am I, a child?” Hakyeon laughed.

“Pretty much. Banana milk, strawberry ice cream…” Hongbin pointed out at the older’s childish tastes

“Hey~” Hakyeon pouted.

“What? I’m just pointing out the truth,” Hongbin said while chuckling himself at successfully teasing the older. “Well? What were you doing not going to bed? It’s late.”

“I…” Hakyeon suddenly blushed. “I was kinda hoping… that…”

“Hmm?”

“Well, I was hoping to see you once you got home,” Hakyeon’s face turned even more red in embarrassment.

“Me?”

As if blushing was contagious, Hongbin also found himself blushing in return because he didn’t expect such a confession from the leader.

“You’ve been so busy from one drama to another and because of my own schedule, we never get the time to meet up or talk. I miss you…”

Hakyeon buries his face in his hands and couldn’t look at the younger at all.

What the hell? Hongbin looked at the older’s flourished cheeks and couldn’t help but cracked a smile. How can you be so… cute?

Hongbin grabbing Hakyeon’s hands away from his face and held the older one more time but much more tighter this time. He knew that the older could be really cute at times but this time, it was lethal.

“Then let’s stay up all night tonight and catch up. I don’t have any schedule tomorrow,” Hongbin suggested.

“Can we really?” Hakyeon asked in uncertainty. “Won’t you be tired?”

“I’m never tired when I’m with you.”

It’s because you’re Cha Hakyeon, Hongbin almost round himself wanting to say.

“Heh,” Hakyeon and Hongbin found themselves looking into each other’s eyes, giggling from embarrassment.

Door opens.

“Go to bed you two. It’s like three in the morning and you two are being too cheesy. I think I might get nightmares tonight,” Sanghyuk said and left after saying what he wanted to say.
