“Hey boys! I brought over some lunch for you guys. You’ve been working so hard for this repackage album, it hurts me to know you haven’t been eating well.” You walked onto the music video filming set with two large baskets.

            The staff cheered, knowing that you brought enough for them too. Himchan was the first to walk over and he hugged you, not caring that his best friend was watching. “Let’s get married.” You laughed and entangled yourself to put down the food.

            You helped everyone distribute the food and walked up to Yongguk to kiss him. “Hey, baby. I missed you. All these long days of practice are really tiring isn’t it? Eat.”

            You observed that he was uncharacteristically quiet. He gave you a brief smile and you decided that his behavior was due to exhaustion. For days, the boys have been filming nonstop and it was bound to take a toll on them. You sat down next to him and picked up a slice of meat with your chopsticks.

            Youngjae bounded over and knelt down to give you a hug. “Thank you noona for bringing this. I was going to write to my mother and ask her to bring us some food.” You patted the younger boy’s cheek.

            “Anything for you guys.”

            Yongguk took the bowl from you and started to eat by himself, strangely silent. You left him alone, thinking he was probably tired. Of course he was. He’s had a long day with practice. You planted a kiss on the top of his head and walked to where the other members were goofing around.

            Zelo and Jongup had started a quick dance routine and you clapped, watching them perform their moves. They bowed and smiled at your praise. You felt a bit worried when the only one who wasn’t included in the antics was Yongguk. But you left him to himself, thinking he just wanted time to rest. The crew began to assemble together and you heard your name called.

            “Go home. We need to start working again.” It was Yongguk. His voice was harsh and it no longer had a tired ring to it. It was unmistakably angry. You glanced at his face and saw that his eyes had turned a stormy dark color and gulped. Something had made him furious.

            The others quieted as well, not used to this treatment towards you and Himchan spoke up. “Hey, calm down. We’re all tired but she was just trying to make us feel livelier.”

            He swung his head towards his best friend and in an uncharacteristic manner, exploded. “That’s right! Defend my girlfriend! Go ahead! Defend her and why don’t you hug her to make her feel better too?” His deep voice resounded across the room and the crew members shifted uncomfortably.

            You were bewildered but no longer wanted to cause a scene. “I’m going. Yongguk’s right. You need to work and I’m just a distraction. I have to get back to my artwork anyway. Bye guys.” You turned to Yongguk who was studiously avoiding your gaze. “I’ll see you tonight, honey.”

            The entire day passed in an ugly turmoil. You weren’t sure what had ticked him off but you knew you didn’t like it. He was different when he was angry. His emotions roamed and he became slightly dangerous. You prayed that after the filming he would come to his senses and maybe get better.

            The doors to your home unlocked and you braced yourself. He would never hurt you but you have never seen him like this before either. “Hey, Gukkie,” you greeted him.

            He was still silent, still brooding and you frowned. It wasn’t like him to hold such a long grudge. You set down dinner before him and he nodded his thanks. When he finished eating, he did something he hasn’t done in a while. He went into the den and shut the door. You sighed. He was going to watch those gosh darn war movies again.

            Three hours later when he walked into your bedroom, you were just turning off the light. He seemed calm enough and you finally ventured to speak. “What happened today? I wish TS would let you guys rest a bit more. I worry about you so much.”

            His voice was held with a tight control as he answered. “Can I ask you something? Did you ever loved me? Do you sometimes wish you were with, I don’t know, Himchan or Daehyun rather than with me?”

            “What? Don’t be stupid, Yongguk. What are you talking about?”

            “Every time you visit, you beeline straight to them and I have to endure the six of you laughing and having fun. I know Jongup and Zelo are too young for you but the others should be okay. I know I’m not the funniest person nor am I the best looking but I just wonder. Are you using me to get to them?”

            You were shocked by the loss of such confidence in a man you thought had such high self-esteem and you clucked your tongue. “Is this what today was about?” You started to laugh, relieved that it was something that could be solved so easily.

            “Baby, I only love you okay? It doesn’t matter who else is there. You are funny. You’re adorable and you’re the best looking member, no bias.” You got on top of him and straddled his waist. “Do you really want me to prove it to you?”

            He pushed you off and turned. “You’re just saying all of this to make me feel better.”

            Irritation pricked at you. “And why would I want you to feel better if I didn’t like you?” This logic was going to get you nowhere.

            “Because you’re a nice person and you don’t want to be the cause of someone’s hurt feelings.”

            You scoffed. “I leave you alone because I think you’re tired. I let you be and play with the others because I see them like my little brothers. Yes, even Himchan I see as a little child! I can’t believe that two years of devotion to you is wiped away simply because of this one part that I happen to do. I’m sorry if you feel this way. But you need to snap out of it.”

            You seethed and heard him sniffle slightly. “Was I really mean to you?”

            You turned to him and wiped away a tiny tear, hating to see him like this. “Your face is always so fierce every time you’re on set and I’m so scared that this life isn’t meant for you and I try my best to make the atmosphere lively so you can want to join too.”

            He hugged you to him and you felt the curve of his smile on your head. “Thank you. Thank you for putting up with me even though I can be a silly stubborn pabo.”

            You smiled, finally glad to know that this misunderstanding was over. “I love you.”
