Youngjae 29

B.A.P. Oneshots

You tugged on Youngjae’s arm and pouted. “Come on! You promised,” you whined. “You said I could pick out my birthday present.”

He sighed. “You said you wanted a puppy right?”

“Yep! One that looks exactly like Thelma. I’m so excited. Thank you, Youngjae. You’re so fluffy.” You mussed his hair and clung onto him.

He gave you a face but then laughed. You were too adorable for him to argue with. “I can’t believe I only get to be older than you for two days. You act like you’re two years younger than me.”

You stuck out your tongue at him and dragged him down the streets. He followed at a faster pace and you pulled him into a pet shop. Tiny barks and squeaks of hamster wheels greeted the two of you and you immediately were drawn to where the barking puppies were.

You saw some that captivated your heart and pouted. Now you had to go through the difficult task of choosing. You sighed and stared at each one. You picked one up and he started to squirm and kick his legs. He snapped his jaw in an attempt to be fierce. You giggled.

“Youngjae, come here, little duckie.” You beckoned him over and he smiled at your pet name for him. He walked over.

“Is this the one you like?”

“I can’t decide. This one is so adorable. But I also like his sister. She’s so adorable. Look at her trying to draw attention to herself.”

“Why do we have to go for the hyper active ones? Why can’t we stick with sane ones?”

You scowled. “My birthday, my puppy, none of your opinions.”

Youngjae lifted both hands in surrender. “Alright then. You go decide, I’ll look around.”

You giggled and made faces at the male puppy in your hands, laughing when he made whimpering noises. You placed him down and pick up his sister. She immediately went nuts. She started yapping and straining forward. Her jaws were yowling and she was desperate to reach over you. You looked behind you.

Youngjae was smiling happily and holding a gray kitten. You shuddered. Your mom has a cat and you were so desperate to get away from cats. You glared at him. “Puppy, Youngjae. P-u-p-p-y. You know, baby dog? Not anything of the feline variety. What are you doing? We can’t have a dog and a cat at the same time?”

“Yes, we can,” he argued. “They can get along.”

“Not always. Then what are you going to do? No. Put that kitten back. I like this just fine. I’m going to take her brother. He’s cuter. Look, he has a gorgeous white spot over his eye. I’m in love.”

“You’re in love with me,” he replied cheekily.

You rolled your eyes and rubbed noses with the puppy in your hands. “Look!” You showed Youngjae the dog and the kitten in his arms started wriggling around. He rubbed its head and soothed it.

“Look at what you did. You frightened the poor thing.” He kissed the kitten’s gray fur. “Besides, you wanted puppy. I got you puppy. Look at its tag.”

You placed the dog down back in its cage and gently lifted the cat’s name tag. Sure enough, it said “Puppy” on the metal tag. You glared at Youngjae while he looked back at you triumphantly.

“You wanted puppy, and puppy I have delivered.”

You sighed in frustration. “Youngjae! I said I wanted a puppy, not Puppy. Put that kitty cat back.”

“You called it a kitty cat. I now have hope. Come on. Do you really need a pet? Aren’t I enough?” He gave you puppy eyes. Oh the irony.

You glared at him. “Why do you do this? It’s my birthday and you know what I want. But no you decide to ruin my life. Why do you do this? I’ve wanted a dog like Thelma for the longest time. I miss her.”

He kissed the top of your head. “Alright,” he said, defeated. “Whatever my princess wants. It is your birthday after all. I can’t exactly be selfish and argue, can I?”

He turned to go. You watched him leave and saw the kitten twist its head to look at you. Its gray eyes were large, watery and sorrowful. Your heart squeezed. Animals and Youngjae were ganging up on your today. Your life .

            “Come back!”

He turned around and you saw his hopeful face. You hated him. You really did. With a passion. “Let me see Puppy.” Youngjae happily handed the kitten over and you held it in your arms. It was a fluff ball and your heart dropped.

You glanced down at the puppies and saw the one you had abandoned. It too was on its hind legs and staring at you with a dejected expression. “Get them both?” a salesperson suggested. “They’ll get along. They came from the same family before they had to be given away.

Youngjae smiled. “See? I knew things would work out. Yes, we’ll buy Kitty and Puppy.”

            “Kitty?” you sputtered.

“We’ll be the troll couple. This will be the joke of the century. Enjoy it.” And the two of you walked out of the shop, each holding your new pets.
