Zelo 15

B.A.P. Oneshots

“You know if you just stopped having this inferiority complex, life would be much happier. You wouldn’t have to be so insecure.” The therapist gazed at the distraught teenager in front of him. “One cheating girlfriend doesn’t mean another. One mother who walked out on you doesn’t mean the end of the world. Not all women are bad.”

The words run through his head as he stares at the empty space across from him. Today was supposed to be their six month anniversary. Today was supposed to be a day of happiness and joy, but instead, today was nothing. Today was nothing but self-reflection, and self-hatred.

The look on her face when she walked in on him. He didn’t have time to hide. He didn’t really want to hide. He wanted to see the hurt, to feel the triumph of having hurt others. He wanted to have that power that others had when they hurt him. Her pretty face blossoming in pain was almost exhilarating at the moment. Her rosebud mouth dropping open and the tears that came on in a torrent, came on surprisingly fast.

He watched the doors and waited to see if she would arrive. Maybe she would. Maybe she’ll remember that they had saved the date three months ago, in the joyful planning that young couples made when they were head over heels in love and never thought of disaster. Maybe she’ll forget the incident that took place one month ago and come. After all, he showed up.

At the moment, he could only remember the other boy talking to her. He could only picture her tucking away her hair, smiling prettily at him. Simpering at him, he thought. He could only think of her patting his arm and the boy grabbing her into a hug. She had looked surprised, but hadn’t pushed him away. He had hidden himself behind them.

“Sir? It’s Zelo right? I’ve been calling your order for the past five minutes. Peppermint mocha (her favorite) and an apple smoothie?”

His mouth dropped open as he looked at the two drinks in her hands. “Er, ah, yes.” Be polite, he reminded himself. “Yeah, thanks, sorry. Lost in space.”

The waitress was pretty. She smiled and dipped her head graciously. “It’s no problem.” She set it down in front of him and he rearranged it so that the mocha was across from him and the smoothie in front of him. He should wait until she gets here.

He wanted to break her that day. He’s always warned her of that creep, but no girl ever listened. She had insisted that he was ‘just a friend, another classmate,’ but he knew better. He could see through the other boy and see the lust he had for his girl. She was just too naïve to see it. Oh, poor baby girl, thinking the best in everyone.

The doors opened and a female figure walked in. He straightened and looked at her. The hair was too short, the skin was too marred, the eyes were too narrow. The girl spoke in an obnoxiously high voice and took her order and left. Zelo slumped back down against his chair. He checked his watch. An hour had passed.

He had just grabbed any girl off the streets. She seemed easy enough and he knew he was good looking enough to entice her. It wasn’t hard to kiss her then slip a hand up her skirts, pulling her into the house with him. He timed it perfectly too. He knew when she would be back and at what stage he wanted to be in.

He drummed the table and took a sip of the smoothie. It was a bit sour and he grimaced. He contemplated being a jerk and walking up to her, demanding another. But then he remembered, he would be sitting here for a while. Best not to piss her off.

He whistled to himself, thinking about what he wanted to do for the remainder of his time. He would give her until the entire day. He will sit here and wait until the shop closes. He will be stubborn.

They were nowhere near the bed but he had her tank top straps pulled down and was caressing her shoulders. She was panting above him and he kept his eyes on the door. He was waiting. The doors were moving and he smirked. She was too wrapped up in her desire to notice. The door opens and he sees the person he wants to see. He bites down on her shoulder as the newcomer widens her eyes and takes in the scene. That’s right, hurt.

He stared down at his smoothie. It was empty now. Across from him, the whipped cream had dissolved and there was a pale layer on top of the coffee. He blew across the top layer and it shimmered a bit. If she were here, they would be laughing and she would be drinking the mocha, leaving behind a milky mustache.

He had pushed the other girl calmly out the house and turned to face her. She slapped him. He didn’t mind. The point was she did it out of pain, and he almost liked it. It was a strangely absorbing sense of power he had. She screamed and yelled and all he said was, “You cheat on me all the time.” She had broken down into sobs and the next day, her clothes were gone, gone without a trace.

He slammed a fist against the table and everyone jumped. Zelo ignored the raised eyebrows and only nodded in apology. “Sorry. Bug.”

She wasn’t coming. The waitress was getting anxious. He plowed through order after oder of the smoothie and waited. “Sir, we have to close now. Thank you for being a patron at our café. I hope to see you soon.” But even he knew she was lying. It was not her idea of an easy job to handle a nutcase like him.

It started raining outside and he stepped out. He didn’t care that he was getting wet. He deserved it. It didn’t matter, He had lost her. In the corner, a figure stepped out and he stopped. It looked like her. He walked closer to her. It was her.

He had left her a million voice messages. The moment after she left, he had regretted everything. A veil had been lifted and he knew that he had been an idiot. He called her but she never picked up. He didn’t even know where she had gone.

He walked closer and closer. He just wanted to touch her. He just wanted to hug her, to explain, to apologize. He had been a jealous idiot and now he knows. He knows how wrong he is and he wants a chance to amend. But he gets closer and she turns and she walks away.

He wants to chase after her but something stops him. It was a pain. There was a loud screech in the air and he was launched into the air. He sees her look of horror as she turns around and her scream. “Zelo!”

He waves to her as he falls onto the pavement. The pain was overbearing to the point that he couldn’t feel it. He tries to smile at her as she drops down next to him. He hears the car driving away and knows that she’ll report this to the police. “I’m sorry,” he tells her. Before he can get to the point, and tell him that he loves her, he feels his breath run out. When he opens his eyes again, everything is bright and there is no more hurt to feel.
