Monday at lunch, Kai had guiltily asked Taemin if it was alright to not sit together at lunch that day. He told Taemin there was something he really needed to do and hinted that it was a person he was meeting. Taemin happily agreed, excited that his hyung was “meeting someone” and wished him luck before walking to the cafeteria.

Kai released a sigh in relief before making his way to the music room, where he knew a popular Kim Jonghyun would be most likely playing his guitar. As expected, Kai was proven correct as he walked in and hurried to the senior who was looking at him peculiarly.

“Yo. Kai, am I right?” Jonghyun asked, smiling politely as he greeted the younger. Kai didn’t smile back. Instead he stared at the older who was beginning to look uncomfortable. “Is there someone I can do for you?”

“Yeah, could you answer a question?” Kai asked, crossing his arms.

Jonghyun nodded, looking confused.

Kai looked at him skeptically as he asked, “Do you like Taemin?”

Jonghyun’s smiled reappeared when he heard Taemin’s name, “Yeah, of course I do. He’s a really cool guy.”

“No,” Kai shook his head, “I mean do you have feelings for him? Do you want to be him boyfriend?”

At this, Jonghyun’s smile fell and he set his guitar. He sighed and told Kai to take a seat. “What do you want me to answer? Are you asking me because you like him?”

Kai sputtered and furiously shook his head, “No, not like that! He’s my best friend! I’m only asking because he really likes you and I don’t want him to get hurt!”

Kai mildly wondered if Jonghyun was bipolar because of his constantly disappearing and reappearing smiling, but tried not to let his inner thoughts distract him when Jonghyun answered him.

“Well in that case, yeah I really do like him. I didn’t know what he thought about me but I wanted to become his friend before asking him to be mine.”

Kai smiled back, pleased with this answer. “Well, I’m expecting you to make the first move then. Taemin’s seriously freaking out at every thought of trying to ask you out.”

Jonghyun’s smiled widened if that was even possible. “Well, maybe since now I know how he feels, I will talk to him tomorrow.”

“I think that would make his day.”
