Finding Out I
Best Friendsto celebrate an even number of chapters, here's an angsty chapter for you.
Kai walked into the cafeteria after gym class, getting in the lunch line. He was unusually early and ended up waiting beside the table where the preppy eighth graders sat. He didn’t really like them much because of their snobbish attitudes but he would just have to tolerate for a short while until he got his lunch. He was thinking about grabbing an extra bag of chips or something; he was pretty hungry.
“Hey, I heard the soccer team was going to corner that Taemin kid today after school,” one of the prep boys said in a hushed tone to his friends who were leaning in to hear him.
Kai also heard him, and silently focused on the kid’s voice.
“Really?” one of the girls asked, sounding intrigued. “What are they gonna do?”
“Probably ruff him up a little,” a boy wearing designer glasses commented, smiling a little. “Can’t wait to see what he looks like tomorrow.”
“The little is finally getting what he deserves.”
“Yeah! Hopefully now he won’t think to contaminate anything with his gayness,” the girl said.
“Lee Taemin even sounds like’s a ’s name.”
Kai, who had been listening the entire time, rushed out of the cafeteria. He had lost his appetite.
He ran down the hallway where Taemin was, seeing him just walk out of class as he arrived. He roughly grabbed Taemin’s hand, making his hyung run with him down the corridors and to the school gates.
“Yah! Kai, what are you doing?” Taemin yelled, feeling slightly out of breath from the running. They had slowed down to a brisk walk, making their way off campus. “Where are we going? School isn’t over yet!”
“We’re going to my house!” Kai snapped obviously mad, “Where we’re going to talk about the bullying!”
Taemin didn’t utter a single word and just let himself be lead by his friend, holding in his tears.
