Juggling

Kai’s first day of juggling club was going to be a breeze he thought as he walked into the classroom where the club was held. As soon as he walked in the room, everyone in the room was staring at him. There was a boy in the front who was showing another student the juggling balls. He looked at Kai and waved him over, smiling.
“You must be Kai,” he said, “I’m Sehun. It’s nice to meet you. Now, do you know how to juggle?”
Kai shook his head.
“That’s fine,” Sehun assured smiling. “I’ll teach you. Here, let’s start with the scarves,” he continued, digging inside a box in the corner with several different juggling objects. Pulling out a handful of scarves, he passed them to Kai, who stared at the blankly.
“Um…,” Kai mumbled dumbly.
“It’s simple really. All it really takes in hand-eye coordination and practice. Now here, just toss these two in the air, then with third one, toss it in the middle of the two. When the other two start dropping, grab them and toss them back up and repeat with the third, and repeat for however long you want,” Sehun explained, demonstrating the task. Kai mused. It seemed simple enough. He performed the task himself, grinning happily when he did it without struggle. This really was easy.
“Great!” Sehun cheered encouragingly. “Now, let’s try crossing them, like how you would normally juggle something. Here, watch.”
It seemed very simple and self explanatory enough. Kai while diligently watching Sehun, threw his own scarves in the air, doing exactly what Sehun was doing. Sehun was right; all it really was good hand-eye coordination.
He stopped his juggling of the scarves and eyed the regular juggling balls on a desk. Sehun saw him looking at them and smirked, “Now don’t get ahead of yourself. You should practice with the scarves more before you try the balls.”
Kai shrugged. “It’s doesn’t look that difficult,” he commented, shoving the scarves on his back pocket and picking up three balls.
Sehun rolled his eyes, “Alright, try it.”
And so Kai did. With one toss in the air, Kai threw another and tried to catch it.
He failed.
He tried again. He failed again.
After his fifteenth attempt, he groaned, glaring at the balls. Sehun chuckled and grabbed some balls for himself and tossed them in the air, juggling them with ease. He smirked at Kai as he did so, enjoying the awed face in wonderment.
“It’s not that hard. Come one, try it!” he said, knowing that Kai knew there was no way.
Kai shook his head, tossing the balls back in the bin on the desk and took out his scarves once more and settling back in his corner.
Sehun smiled and stopped juggling. “You’ll get the hang of it eventually. Just get the feel of the arm movement first and get used to the movement. Then you can try something heavier.”
Kai nodded, solely focused on the scarves.
Practice makes perfect.
