Birthday Present
Best Friends
“Happy Birthday, hyung!” Taemin and Kai cheered simultaneously, playfully Jonghyun’s body, laughing at the elder’s pain. They had arrived at Jonghyun’s house at ten that morning, a few hours before other people were scheduled to arrive. Wanting to ensure that they got some time alone with their elder friend, they purposefully arrived early.
Jonghyun, still being hit, fell to the floor in the living room to devoid some of the playful hits. “Yah! Stop!” he yelled, laughing at the two boys who fell to his side with evil smirks on their faces.
“But the birthday boy needs birthday punches! To make sure he doesn’t feel too special,” Kai snickered, sticking his tongue out cheekily.
“That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard,” Jonghyun sniffed, pouting. “How about birthday hugs?”
“I think we can make that happen,” Taemin giggled, wrapping his skinny arms around Jonghyun’s torso, followed by Kai who wrapped his arm around the elder’s neck. Jonghyun smiled happily, satisfied with the arrangement.
“Now, do I get a birthday present?” Jonghyun asked greedily, eyes lighting up. Who doesn’t like presents?
“That’s for later, hyung,” Kai said, waving his finger as if scolding the other. He and Taemin had already dropped their presents off in the kitchen for him to open later with the other gifts he was sure to receive.
“When is everyone else getting here?” Taemin asked curiously.
“Oh, I think around one or two. You guys should be feeling special, by the way. It’s my extended family that’s coming and you’re the only two people meeting them. Even my other friends haven’t met them,” Jonghyun said.
“Because your family is special to you?” Kai guessed, indeed feeling a bit honored. Hyung most hold his family very dear to him.
“No, because they’re freaking crazy,” Jonghyun laughed, thinking in the back of his mind that maybe his family belonged in a mental institution.
“Hyung, that’s mean,” Taemin laughed.
“No, it’s fact.”
“Ah, hyung, the first door on the right in the bathroom, correct?” Kai asked, peeking down the hallway of the home.
“Yeah.”
“Then I shall be back momentarily.”
As soon as Kai disappeared down the hall and into the bathroom, locking the door behind him, Jonghyun turned to Taemin with a smirk.
“Now, where’s my real birthday present?”
Taemin smiled and climbed onto the elder’s lap, wrapping his arms around Jonghyun’s neck. “Happy birthday~,” Taemin quietly sang, pressing his pink lips to Jonghyun’s eager ones.
“Mm, I like this present,” Jonghyun sighed, pleased.
