Chapter 96

Masks

"Oh, you are all here." Sumi entered the practice room that B.A.P were practicing at.

"Where else would we be?" Zelo asked.

"I don't know.. Saving Hyeri maybe?" she said, playing with her hair. This sentence got everyone's attention.

"And why would we need to save her?" Youngjae asked.

"Princess is being kicked out of the company right now. I just thought you should know." she shrugged and turned to leave.

B.A.P looked utterly confused. Yongguk looked at Himchan, looking for answers, but the younger male was taken by surprise just like the rest of them.

"I'm going to get some information out of the secretary." Himchan stated and went out of the room.

Yongguk rushed out of the room to stop Sumi, who seemed to be the only one who knew what's going on. He found her in the hallway and glued her to the wall, blocking any possibility for her to move.

"Why am I honored, Gukkie?" she asked in a flirty way and traced her finger over his shirt, stopping above his stomach.

"What did you do?" he glared at her.

"Nothing." she said innocently. "Why do you think I have something to do with it?"

"Who else would gain from this situation if not you?" he questioned. "You wanted her position since day one."

"Sorry to disappoint you, but this time it was all her doing. I guess princess isn't as perfect as she seem.."

"What happened?" he asked again, raising his voice from annoyance.

"Date me and you'll find out." she smiled and her hand made its way beneath his shirt, caressing his abs.

"Not a chance." Yongguk scoffed. "Girls like you are the type of girls I hate the most." he looked at her with disgust, but she didn't budge.

"Well, she is not going to be here anyway, so I'll have plenty of time to make you mine." she said sweetly, batting her lashes.

"Stop being delusional." he said and grabbed her arm harshly, pushing it away from him. Sumi stumbled from the force Yongguk used and fell to the floor after losing her balance.

"Touch me one more time against my permission and I'll break your arm, even if you are a girl. Hyeri is the only one that can do this." Yongguk said, not bothering to ask if Sumi is fine. He really didn't care.

"But she is not doing it, is she?" Sumi asked, getting up and straightening her wrinkled clothes. Yongguk's blood boiled.

"If you are looking for a real girl or just someone to pass the time with and give you what you need.." Sumi said and caressed his cheek. "I'm always here for you." she stopped her finger on his lips, tracing it.

"Get lost." he glared at her.

"Fine." she smiled and took a couple of steps back.

"By the way.." she said before she turned to leave. "Zico says hey." she had a mischievous smile on her face.

Yongguk watched as Sumi walked away, leaving him with a thousand questions that he didn't have answers for.

"What the hell happened?" Daehyun asked, mainly to himself, as he paced around the practice room.

Jongup and Zelo sat on the floor, looking more confused than ever. Neither of them had an idea to what could have happened.

"Guys.." Youngjae suddenly said, looking at something in his ipad.

"What?" the others turned to look at him.

"I think I know what happened.."

I sat in the CEO's office, the blood drained from my face.

"Why.. Four.. People?" Jinu stuttered.

"Isn't it obvious? Hyeri is leaving. Do I need to spell it out for you?" the CEO mocked.

"They are debuting in three days, you can't do this. Besides, the girls will never learn the new choreography on time.. It's ridiculous."

"I can do whatever I want. I own this company and I'm the one paying the expenses of brats like her, so don't tell me what to do and what I can or can't do unless you want to go with her." the CEO snapped.

"But still.." Jinu mumbled quietly.

"We had a deal and Hyeri broke it. She knew the consequences and she still acted carelessly." the CEO said dryly.

"Oppa, it's okay." I told Jinu. "He is right, it was my fault. I was careless."

It's true. I broke the contract and he did tell me that he'll kick me out if I mess up again. I dragged the girls to the bathhouse and I also promised them to take responsibility for it if things go wrong. I still don't know what went wrong, but I'm keeping my promise. I don't want them to be affected by it and to take the blame for something I did. It's not right.

"Hyeri.." Jinu gave me an apologetic look.

"I'll pack my things." I turned to the CEO. "I'm sorry I caused you damage." I stood up and bowed.

"Wait." the CEO said before I left the room. I turned around, facing him.

"What is it?" I asked. A part of me still hoped he will regret and let me debut, but I knew it wouldn't happen. The CEO was determined to kick me out.

"We need to settle the payment of your debt." he said coldly and I felt my stomach sink. It really is over. I sighed. Of course he would want money, why wouldn't he? I was stupid for thinking otherwise.

~

"Sohyun-ah!" Himchan tried using his aegyo on the secretary.

"Go away." she said and turned her chair so her back was facing him.

"Help me." he pouted cutely.

"I'm busy." she turned around and took a couple of papers from her desk, pretending to read them.

"Hyeri is inside the CEO'S office, right?" Himchan asked, leaning his face on his palms. His elbows were resting on her desk, so his face was almost at her level.

"None of your business." she flicked his forehead.

"That hurt!" he exclaimed.

"Go back to practice." Sohyun said while typing something on the computer.

"What did she do?"

"She broke the contract. That's the only thing I'm going to tell you." she said without looking at him.

"Sohyun." Himchan called softly and turned her chair around so she'll face him again. Sohyun sighed.

"Go away. I can't tell you anything."

"Aish." Himchan grumbled and messed his hair, annoyed.

"Are you really going to be like that?" Himchan tried another method.

"Yes." she stated.

"Tell me what you want, I'll give it to you in return for your information."

"You can't give me what I want. Now stop fooling around, I need to work." she hit his head with her notebook.

"What do you want?" he asked curiosuly, raising his eyebrow.

"You. Can you give it to me?" she asked sweetly.

"That's a bit.. Complicated." he scratched his head.

"You idiot." Sohyun sighed. "I was joking. Who would want a flirt like you as a boyfriend anyway?"

"Yah! Just so you'll know, a lot of girls want me!" Himchan exclaimed and Sohyun giggled.

"They have a terrible taste." she stated.

"Sohyun-ah.." Himchan said cutely. At that moment the phone on her desk rang.

"I need to answer that." Sohyun apologized and picked up the call.

"Hyeri? Yes.. I will make all the necessary arrangements. Yes, sir." Sohyun told the person on the other side of the phone and it caught Himchan's attention.

"Alright." she hanged up the phone and Himchan stared intently at her.

"What is it?" she asked when Himchan wouldn't stop staring at her.

"Talk." he ordered.

~

"I don't get it." Jongup said after Youngjae explained the situation.

"What?" Youngjae asked.

"It doesn't seem like a bad thing, so why is he kicking her out?"

"Who knows.." Daehyun sighed.

~

"If that's everything I guess I should leave.." I said. I could feel my tears threatening to fall any moment now and I didn't want to cry in front of Jinu and the CEO.

"Make it quick." the CEO said.

"Yes, sir."

"WAIT!" the door suddenly opened and Yoona stood at the entrance with her tablet in her hands. We looked at her confused.

"What is it? The meeting with the PR team is in half an hour. You better have a good reason to barge in here like this.." The CEO grumbled.

"It's important. You have to see this." she said and walked over to him.

"Hyeri, leave." he ordered without looking at me.

"Actually.." Yoona said, "She needs to see this as well."

We gathered around Yoona who opened a few websites on her tablet.

The first one was a post on pann asking if anyone knows us. The post had a couple of videos of us from the bathhouse and they wrote we looked like a professional group, hence they want to know if we are really a group and if we look familiar to anyone. There were a couple of replies that recognized us and they even put our teaser to show it mathces our voice and appearance.

Next was another post complimenting our performance and they had quite a few videos. Weird.. I don't remember anyone filming us, but I guess they managed to record us without us noticing.

"There are more posts like this, I just picked a few to show you. The first one is the one that started everything." Yoona explained.

Now she showed us an article about my group performing there and questioning if it's a new promotion method. They even called us 'The Bathhouse Idols'. I rolled my eyes at the name. Well, at least they seem to like our performance..

"What are you trying to prove? It's just embarrassing and bringing negative attention to the girls. How are you going to get them out of this mess?" The CEO questioned, annoyed. I shifted uncomfortably in my place.

"I haven't finished yet." Yoona said and opened a new internet page. Now she showed us a couple of articles praising us. Okay, maybe it's not this bad.. I glanced at the CEO, but he seemed unaffected. Jinu, on the other hand, was smiling brightly, obviously satisfied.

"This is not the best part yet." Yoona said, and I looked curiously at her. She opened a few youtube videos, all of them from our performance yesterday. We looked at her confused.

"Look at the views." she smiled. It was quite high considering we haven't debuted yet and that the videos were uploaded just a couple of hours ago.

"So what do you want to do?" The CEO asked.

"Well, Hyeri might have messed up and broke the contract, but eventually it brought the girls attention and people are talking about them right now and they are looking forward to their debut. The views for the music video teaser has also gone up and there are a lot more people checking their articles."

"So we can't kick Hyeri out." Jinu continued her trail of thought, smiling.

"Exactly." she agreed. The CEO frowned.

"What are you going to do about this mess now?" the CEO asked Yoona, glaring at her.

"I think we should change our promotion tactic and take advantage of this situation. My team is working on the plan right now, it will be ready for our meeting."

"Hyeri, I think you can go back to practice with the girls." Jinu said, smiling. I sighed in relief.

"Hyeri." the CEO called.

"Yes, sir?"

"You were lucky today. Mess up again and you are really out."

"Yes, sir." I bowed and went out of the room.

When I was out of the CEO's office I noticed Himchan talking to the secretary and I saw Yongguk pacing around impatiently, his hands tucked in his pokcets. He looked really nervous.

"Oppa!" I called cutely, approaching him. When he noticed me his face lit up.

"Are you okay?" he asked worriedly, scanning my face in order to look for clues.

"Of course I am. I'm thick skinned." I smiled, trying to reassure him.

"Yeah, right." Himchan scoffed from his spot. "Crybaby."

"No one asked your opinion." I glared at him.

"Babe.." Yongguk got my attention again.

"What?"

"Let's talk." he said and grabbed my hand, leading me somewhere.

"Where are we going?" I asked. He didn't answer and I noticed we got out of the company.

"Oppa.. I have practice."

"It can wait. This is more important." he stated and I noticed we were heading towards our park. It was still early, the sun was shining brighty, but luckily the park was empty. It would have been bad if we got caught.

We finally stopped and he released my hand, only to pull me into a tight hug.

"Oppa.." I mumbled.

"Just stay like this for a moment." he asked, still hugging me. I smiled and hugged him back, burrying my face in his chest. I needed this hug.

~

"I didn't mean to cause trouble. I was just trying to help the girls.." I said while sitting on the swing. He didn't ask me anything nor criticized me, but I felt like I had to explain.

"I know." Yongguk said while sitting on the swing next to mine. "It was close."

"I know." I sighed.

"You had more luck than brain this time, and the CEO is probably mad because he can't kick you out."

"How did you know?" I asked curiously, looking at him.

"I know him for years now."

There was a moment of silence while both of us were deep in thought. He stopped swinging and got up, crouching in front of me.

"Be careful in the future. I don't want you to get in trouble, and he will probably be more strict on you now."

"Alright." I smiled.

"Promise me you'll think before you do things." he said in a serious tone.

"I promise."

~

"Guys!" Himchan came back to the practice room to meet the rest of B.A.P.

"What?"

"Hyeri is safe. She actually benefited the girls by doing this, so there is no reason to kick her out."

"Why am I not surprised?" Youngjae chuckled. "She is lucky. She always gets away from punishment somehow."

"It's not somehow, it's Yongguk." Daehyun said. "He is like her guardian angel or something, always coming to her rescue."

"It's luck as well." Himchan said. "At least this time."

~

"Hyeri!" the girls jumped on me when I entered our practice room. Well, except Sumi, who was frowning on the side.

"Let me breathe." I tried to release myself from the three bodies squishing me. They pulled away and I got fresh air.

"We are actually getting attention because of it!" Yujin beamed.

"How is being called 'The Bathhouse Idiols' a good thing? We are a laughing stock." Sumi grumbled.

"Because until now nobody laughed at us?" Eun Hee asked sarcastically.

"News flash - We were already a laughing stock before this thing happened, so it doesn't really matter." Yujin added.

"Bad publicity is better than zero publicity." Sey said. "And we didn't do anything wrong."

"True!" the others agreed.

"And we are more confident now, thanks to you." Eun Hee said, looking at me.

"You are the best!" they hugged me, leaving me breathless again. I smiled.

"Pathetic." Sumi commented while watching us.

Chapter 156: Wow, I was blaming both of them at 1st, as things could’ve been handled so much better on both sides. I loved how Himchan & Sey reasoned with both of them, but Hyeri crossed a line once Yongguk apologized. I didn’t feel she necessarily deserved it, but I knew they both needed it.... sure the way he apologized, did seem like a back handed apology, as her kissing technique could’ve been discussed privately. But Hyeri towards Himchan, she needs to make this better, and of course, he hit below the belt, but she had consistently hit below the belt prior & then to hit him!!! I’m not sure how this is going to turn out, thank you for updating!!

Chapter 156: I still one hundred percent believe that this entire situation is one in which Hyeri is very much at fault. I don’t think Yongguk is in a position where Hyeri requires an apology and I don’t think Hyeri even DESERVES an apology. She completely blew a small and minor incident out of proportion.

I do believe that Himchan went slightly too far with the comment he made however Hyeri shouldn’t have been as horrible to him as she was.

Chapter 155: Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!! I was BEYOND happy to see the update, wow so much happened, where to begin? I see Hyeri & Himchan are still at each other’s throats, I do wish they could get along, and that Hyeri would see the validity in what Himchan said, but no matter what, I think time stopped when Yongguk said Sumi was a better kisser. I felt bad, that super slam, even if honest, that was the time to lie. Especially knowing Hyeri... I was shocked she would kiss him after that was said, and kept thinking why does kissing Yongguk keep coming up, even after he said she wasn’t as good of a kisser. .... sighs, once again, he’s storming out and even with his stupid honestly, I can’t say I blame him. Thank you so much for coming back & for updating,

Chapter 153: Thank you for updating despite your busy schedule. I truly hope that Hyeri is ok! She let a lot of things off her chest the night before, and while I do wish she would've thought of the impact her leaving like that would have, I hope they catch her in time before she does something that would change all of their lives. Regarding the comment I just read, there's a difference between constructive criticism & just plain being rude. While it's true, being factual or doing some research on weightier subjects is a good rule of thumb, most of us are adults that don't use fanfics as our barometer of social issues. Assuming what someone's language is, was completely unnecessary to state. You don't have to read the story, if you're a writer, you should understand what it takes to create, upload & continue a story remembering details from previous chapters...etc. If you're not a writer, perhaps you should put yourself in the author's shoes before you begin.
