Chapter 31

Masks

Day 10:

Since this morning I felt like there is a couple of eyes watching every movement I make. A couple of hours later I found out I was right when Yongguk came visit me at the dressing room for "M! Countdown".

"Can you please leave me alone with Hyeri for a couple of minutes? I want to talk to her about something.." He asked Hwasa when he stood next to the door. She looked at me and I nodded.

"We will be outside.." Solar said smiling when they left the room.

"What is it?" I asked, fixing my hair in front of the mirror.

"You look pale." Yongguk stated.

"You wanted to be alone with me just to tell me I look pale?" I turned around to face him, dumbfounded.

"Are you feeling okay?" He asked.

"Yes. Why is everyone bugging me this couple of days?" I sighed.

"Because we are worried about you."

"I'm fine."

"You look sick."

"I'm tired." I stated the obvious.

"Well, you lost weight as well. You don't look like a walking skeleton just because your'e tired."

"I don't eat properly and I practice a lot, happy?" I started to get annoyed. What is he accusing me of?

"Your'e not starving yourself, right?" He asked worried.

"Are you in your right mind?" I asked. "You spend enough time with me to know by now how much I like to eat. I'm not the type to do this kind of things on purpose."

"Then why did you went to nurse the other day?"

"Are you stalking me or something?" I asked annoyed. Why is he asking me this type of questions anyway? I don't owe him any explenations.

"No, but people saw you go there."

"That's none of your buisness." I said dryly.

"I'm not leaving until you answer me." He declared.

"Yes you are. Stop treating me like you own me. It's my life, and you have nothing to do with it."

"Well, you do have a lot to do with my life, so as a result I have a lot to do with yours."

"I don't."

"Then stop messing with my mind!" Yongguk raised his voice a little, taking me by surprise. "No matter what I do, I always find myself thinking about you and worrying about you, even if I try to ignore it. And then you just have to make things more difficult for me by not taking care of yourself and making me worry even more about you and by liking me back.."

He finished his rant and I stood there frozen, dumbfounded. Did Bang Yongguk just confessed to me?

"Say something, please.." Yongguk asked softly when I didn't say anything for a while.

"You.." I took a deep breath before continue talking. "Did you have fun breaking my heart over and over again? If you liked me back why did you let me feel so useless and pathetic? Do you even know how bad I tried to figure out what was wrong with me and why don't you like me?" I snapped at him. I know I was supposed to be happy he said he liked me, but I just couldn't. The only thing I could feel at the moment was anger about the way he treated me in the last couple of months.

"I'm sorry.." He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at me. He knew I was right.

"I don't need your apologies, I just need you out of my life."

"Hyeri.." He called softly. "I never meant to hurt you. I know I'm an idiot, but I really didn't do it to hurt you, I only wanted to protect you."

"From what?"

"From dating an idiotic guy like me. I knew I would hurt you someday and I didn't want to take the risk."

"So you chose to hurt me over and over instead? Great decision." I said sarcastically.

"I'm sorry."

"Get out, Now." I said dryly.

"Hyeri, please."

"No." I'm not going to budge.

Yongguk stood there quietly for a moment and then went out of the room, his head down. When he left I sat on the floor and started crying.

"Hyeri? What is it?" Wheein ran over to me when Mamamoo came back into the room and saw me crying like crazy.

"I hate him.. I just hate him.." I kept mumbling. She just hugged me, trying to make me relax.

"Do you want me to go hit him? I just look weak, but I can break all his bones." Hwasa suggested, trying to make me feel better.

"Don't, you'll get in trouble with his fans if you'll do that.." I answered, wiping my tears with the back of my hand.

"Do you think some crazy fangirls can stop me?" She said confidently and pretended to flex her muscles. It made me laugh.

"At least your'e smiling.." She smiled as well.

"Thank you." I said weakly.

"No problem." She hugged me.

"You look like you got hit by a truck." Ken said when Yongguk came back to his dressing room.

"I feel that way.." Yongguk mumbled.

"Is everything ok?" Ken asked worried.

"It will be, I hope so.." Yongguk sighed.

~

"Hyeri, are you ready?" The manager went into the dressing room absent-mindedly.

"What the hell?" He said after he looked around the room, noticing me on the floor after I cried my eyes out. "Fix your makeup, it's almost your turn to perform."

"I'm sorry.." I got up from the floor and went to the mirror, trying to fix my makeup. It's not surprising it was a mess since I cried my eyes out.

"And please smile. Your'e doing a fun song, not a depressing one."

"Yes, sir."

It was the first time I didn't feel like going on stage and sing. I looked bad, and I felt even worse. Yongguk looked pretty bad as well. We only looked at each other when we had to because of the dance, and in the rest of the time we tried to avoid each other as much as possible. No matter how much we tried to hide it, it was obvious something happened between us.

The drive back home was also quiet. We sat in different sides of the car, both of us looking outside of the window and not saying a word to each other or to the manager. The manager just looked at both of us through the mirror, noticing the tensed atmosphere, and not saying anything in order not to make things worse.

~

"Hyeri, Yongguk, go to the CEO office. Now." Jinu said the moment we entered the company. We followed him quietly there. The CEO looked mad.

"You two.. Do you know why your'e here?" He asked. We shook her heads.

"Look." He ordered and we looked at the computer screen. It was today performance from the music program. I should have known it was because of it.. I watched it carefully. We did look bad, no wonder he wants to scold us because of it.

"So, do you have anything to say about it?" The CEO asked when the song ended.

"I'm sorry." I said quietly, looking down.

"Yongguk?" He turmed to him.

"I'm sorry, it was my fault."

"Where is your professionalism?" The CEO raised his voice and slammed a bunch of papers on his desk. I flinched from the noise.

"Hyeri is sick, don't blame her." Yongguk said quietly.

"Then what is your excuse?" The CEO asked, and Yongguk didn't say anything. He didn't have an excuse beside letting his feeling take over, and he messed up since he should have been professional. "Your'e not new, you should know to control your feelings."

"I'm sorry." He said quietly, lowering his head as well.

"I'm not sick, you idiot." I muttered.

"Will you shut up when I'm trying to help you out? Don't be an ungrateful brat." Yongguk glared at me. He was starting to lose his patience.

"Don't shut me up, I'm not working for you. And nobody asked you to help me, I'm doing fine on my own."

"You are working for me since it is my song, and I saw how you were doing by yourself.. Stop pretending." Yongguk mumbled.

"BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP!" The CEO yelled. His voice echoed through the room and it could have been heard in the hallway as well. Both of us froze and looked at him. "I don't know what the hell is your problem with one another or why you became like this all of a sudden, but it's either you work things out by tomorrow or wer'e replacing Hyeri. Choose now."

"Working things out." Yongguk said. That song was written for Hyeri, there is no way he is doing it with someone else.

"Replacing." I answered. I can't work with him right now. If we continue, the rest of our performances will probably look like the one today, and we will probably kill each other. Besides, I don't think I will be able to handle it.

Me and Yongguk answered at the same time. We glared at each other when we heard each other's answer.

"Then I guess it's settled." The CEO said. "We will do rotations with the other girls for your next promos, it can help us promote the girl group."

"I'm not doing this without Hyeri." Yongguk stated.

"Can't you just let me go?" I pleaded.

"No."

"Please do something.." I asked the CEO. "He is being unreasonable."

"Jinu, come here." The CEO said after thinking for a few minutes.

"Yes, sir." Jinu stood between me and Yongguk.

"I'm giving you one more chance since we need some time anyway to teach the other girls the lyrics and the dance.. You have a week to work together, and afterwards we will reconsider Hyeri's part. In the meantime, Tonight you are finding a way to work together for the time being, I don't care how. Jinu will make sure you do it. Am I clear?"

"Yes, sir." Me and Yongguk said together.

"And as a bonus to strengthen your relationship and your bond with each other, both of you have 'Running Man' filming next week, and you'll probably get teamed up together. It took us a lot of effort to get both of you in, so don't waste it."

"Okay." We said unanimously.

"Now leave."

~

"How did you get to this situation in the first place?" Jinu asked when we left the CEO office, but he didn't get an answer. Both of us drowned into our own world.

"GUYS!" Jinu yelled in order to get our attention.

"I'm sorry.." I apologized immediately.

"Well, you heard him, right? Let's go to my office, I'm going to babysit you until you talk to each other."

"Do we really have to do this?" I sighed. "We are not kids who needs babysitting."

"Then stop acting like kids."

"It's his fault." I said quietly.

"I heard you." Yongguk said.

"Good."

"This is going to be a long night.." Jinu sighed.

"What do you want to eat?" Jinu asked when we sat in his office.

"Anything is fine." Yongguk said and sat on the couch in the corner of the room.

"I'm not hungry." I stated. At that moment my stomach growled. Great timing.. Yongguk chcukled, and I glared at him.

"I'm going to order pizza." Jinu said and left us alone.

"What is your problem?" I finally asked Yongguk.

"I don't have any." He said calmly.

"Right." I scoffed. "I forgot I'm talking to the perfect Yongguk, everyone's role model."

"At least I don't change my mind every two minutes." Yongguk muttered.

"Of course not, you just keep giving me mixed signals because you can't make up your mind in the first place."

"Is that why your'e mad?" He laughed.

"I haven't started getting mad yet."

"Why do you want to switch?" Yongguk finally asked.

"Because we can't work together." I said dryly.

"The pizze will be here in ten minutes. Extra cheese and mushrooms is fine with everyone, right?" Jinu entered his office, his cellphone in his hand.

"Yes." Yongguk answered.

"Hyeri?" Jinu turned his gaze to me.

"Yes."

"Great. So did you start talking?" Jinu asked.

"Wer'e not going to fix our problem, it's useless." I said.

"What is your problem with one another?"

"I'm not doing this therapy session with you." Yongguk said and stood up.

"I don't want to do this either, but I don't have a choice." Jinu said.

~

"Guys! There is gossip!" Himchan stormed into B.A.P's dorm. The members slowly gathered in the living room.

"So superficial.." Youngjae mumbled.

"No No, you want to hear this." Himchan insisted.

"What happened?" Daehyun asked.

"There was a big fight between Yongguk and Hyeri, and now they are stuck in Jinu's office until they figure things out."

"What?" The rest of the memebers asked unanimously.

"What did they fight about?" Zelo asked.

"I don't know, but it has to be something huge. There is a high chance they will let the other girls do Hyeri's part for his song, mainly because of Hyeri."

"These two.." Youngje sighed. "She is the only one that can make him act like a kid.. She has him wrapped around her finger."

"When you'll fall inlove you'll understand." Daehyun patted his back.

"Then they are in Jinu's office right now?" Jongup said.

"Yes. It can take forever if they keep being stubborn like they always do."

"These two idiots.." Daehyun mumbled.

~

"Eat up." Yongguk said to Hyeri and offered her a pizza slice.

"I'm not hungry." She shrugged. She was sitting near the wall, hugging her knees to her chest.

"And you still don't understand why I'm worried about you.." He sighed.

"Stop worrying about me, you idiot."

"Watch your mouth." Jinu warned her. "Be a lady and talk properly."

"I didn't choose to worry about you." Yongguk muttered. If he could control it he would never fall for her in the first place.

"I am a lady, it doesn't matter how I talk." Hyeri said to Jinu. Did she just ignored what he said?

"I know, it's just that most of the girls don't curse and don't talk back like you do. It's refreshing." Jinu smiled and took another bite from his food.

"She has a foul mouth." Yongguk smiled as well.

"Watch it." Hyeri glared at him.

"Now your'e talking to me?"

"I'm not. You don't exist to me anymore."

"Why do I feel like wev'e gone through this before?" Jinu sighed.

"If you feel that way what about me? Do you know how many times I heard that line before?" Yongguk laughed.

"What did you do to her this time?" Jinu asked Yongguk.

"Why is it always my fault she is mad? What if she is on her period or something and just take out her frustrations on me? It wouldn't be the first time.." He complained.

"Do you really not know why I'm mad?!" Hyeri raised her voice a little. Maybe saying the last sentence wasn't the smartest thing.. He just can't seem to think straight around her, especially if she is mad at him.

"I don't understand you anymore. Shouldn't you be the happiest person on earth right now? You got what you wanted." Yongguk exclaimed, and Hyeri stayed silent.

"I didn't want it that way, and I don't know if it's worth the pain." She finally said, in a barely audible voice. It hurt hearing that, but he deserved it.

"That's your final decision? It's a no?" Yongguk asked, staring at her intently.

"Yes."

Author's Note:

I'm sorry, please don't kill me.

Just.. try to understand her point of view.

And speaking of that, what would you have done? I would probably jump on him either way because I have a weakness to Yongguk, but if it was another guy than I would probably be more like Hyeri..

By the way, if there are more scenes in the waiting/dressing rooms before broadcast then Hyeri is still with Mamamoo and Yongguk is with VIXX unless I mention otherwise, since it's more comfortable.

And Running Man chapter is coming soon..

You got fast update since I had fun writing it and I finished it fast.. I hoped you enjoyed it like I enjoyed writing it :)

Chapter 156: Wow, I was blaming both of them at 1st, as things could’ve been handled so much better on both sides. I loved how Himchan & Sey reasoned with both of them, but Hyeri crossed a line once Yongguk apologized. I didn’t feel she necessarily deserved it, but I knew they both needed it.... sure the way he apologized, did seem like a back handed apology, as her kissing technique could’ve been discussed privately. But Hyeri towards Himchan, she needs to make this better, and of course, he hit below the belt, but she had consistently hit below the belt prior & then to hit him!!! I’m not sure how this is going to turn out, thank you for updating!!

Chapter 156: I still one hundred percent believe that this entire situation is one in which Hyeri is very much at fault. I don’t think Yongguk is in a position where Hyeri requires an apology and I don’t think Hyeri even DESERVES an apology. She completely blew a small and minor incident out of proportion.

I do believe that Himchan went slightly too far with the comment he made however Hyeri shouldn’t have been as horrible to him as she was.

Chapter 155: Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!! I was BEYOND happy to see the update, wow so much happened, where to begin? I see Hyeri & Himchan are still at each other’s throats, I do wish they could get along, and that Hyeri would see the validity in what Himchan said, but no matter what, I think time stopped when Yongguk said Sumi was a better kisser. I felt bad, that super slam, even if honest, that was the time to lie. Especially knowing Hyeri... I was shocked she would kiss him after that was said, and kept thinking why does kissing Yongguk keep coming up, even after he said she wasn’t as good of a kisser. .... sighs, once again, he’s storming out and even with his stupid honestly, I can’t say I blame him. Thank you so much for coming back & for updating,

Chapter 155: WOOP WOOP!! MY FAVE FANFIC IS BACK!!! And OMG this is spicy as hell. I just wish Hyeri would stop being a drama queen and finally realise that she needs to get some help and that Yongguk loves her.

Chapter 153: Thank you for updating despite your busy schedule. I truly hope that Hyeri is ok! She let a lot of things off her chest the night before, and while I do wish she would've thought of the impact her leaving like that would have, I hope they catch her in time before she does something that would change all of their lives. Regarding the comment I just read, there's a difference between constructive criticism & just plain being rude. While it's true, being factual or doing some research on weightier subjects is a good rule of thumb, most of us are adults that don't use fanfics as our barometer of social issues. Assuming what someone's language is, was completely unnecessary to state. You don't have to read the story, if you're a writer, you should understand what it takes to create, upload & continue a story remembering details from previous chapters...etc. If you're not a writer, perhaps you should put yourself in the author's shoes before you begin.
