Chapter 24

Masks

"We have a problem." Yongguk stated while sitting in front of Himchan.

"What is it?" Himchan lifted his eyes from the book he was reading to look at Yongguk.

"He met Hyeri the other day."

"What?" Himchan unintentionally raised his voice. "Were you there when it happened?"

"Yes, I didn't have a choice. But I made her leave quick, so she didn't interact with him that much."

"Does she know him?" Himchan continued interrogating Yongguk.

"Like everyone knows him.." Yongguk sighed.

"That's good. At least she doesn't know how your'e connected. Did he say anything else?"

"Yes.. He knows Sumi and he want to get close to Hyeri to hurt me.. He is still blaming me for what happened."

"Do you still blame yourself?" Himchan stared at Yongguk.

"It was my fault." Yongguk said quietly, kicking an invisble stone on the floor.

"Yongguk.." Himcan sighed. "We talked about it already."

"That doesn't change how I feel. It's my fault. I was supposed to be there for her, and I wasn't. I'm the reason she became like that in the first place."

"No. She was just weak. And she wasn't in her right mind when it happened. You tried to stop her."

"Well, I obviously failed." Yongguk said bitterly.

"What do you want to do?" Himchan asked, looking at Yongguk.

"When we finish promoting I'm going to him. Maybe if he can vent his anger on me he will feel better and leave Hyeri alone."

"That's a very bad idea, and you know it." Himchan stated.

"Then what do you want me to do? I don't want other people getting involved in it, and I don't want to drag this thing further. We need a closure, all of us."

"He can kill you."

"I don't care." Yongguk shrugged.

"But I do! Did you think about the people around you?" Yongguk shook his head.

"You can't do this. We will think about something else.." Himchan said after a few minutes of silence. "How about we send him a warning?"

"What warning?" Yongguk looked curiously at Himchan.

"A friendly one." Himchan smiled. "A one that explains what can happen if he is going overboard."

"It will only make things worse, you know him." Yongguk said.

"Fine." Himchan sighed. "We will figure something out." He said and patted Yongguk's back.

"Himchan.." Yongguk said quietly, and Himchan looked at him curiously. "Do you think that.." Yongguk took a deep breath before continuing. "If I date Hyeri.. She will be miserable as well?"

"The truth? No." Himchan said, and Yongguk was relieved. "She is more independent than her, and I think that we are underestimating her power. I don't think she will fall into that black hole."

"I'm scared." Yongguk admitted, lowering his gaze to the ground.

"Well, your'e not alone. And I know Sey is hard to handle sometimes, but she cares for you a lot, otherwise she wouldn't have been so harsh on you."

"I know that.."

"Come on, let's go eat something.. You need to gain energy." Himchan said smiling.

"I guess.." Yongguk shrugged and followed Himchan out of the room.

"Daehyun.." The girl called softly. Daehyun opened his eyes to look at his girlfriend laying next to him, smiling brightly while looking at him.

"What is it?" He asked smiling and ruffled her hair.

"I love you." She said sweetly, and it made his stomach fill with butterflies. She still have that affect on him, even after dating for a while.

"I love you too." He pecked her forehead.

"Thank you."

"For what?" Daehyun asked confused.

"For not letting me meet this guy.." The girl stared at her feet, embarresed to look at Daehyun.

"Stupid.. I told you I'll protect you, didn't I? I meant it."

The girl didn't respond, but hugged Daehyun tightly. He smiled brightly, pulling her closer to him.

Yongguk avoided me for the last few days, ever since our conversation. He didn't make it obvious, but I could tell. Everytime we were in a room together not for work purposes he found an excuse to disappear. Even when I tried to stay alone with him he avoided me. Eventually I gave up trying to talk to him. If he doesn't want to I won't force him, and his avoidance is a clear answer to my question.

"Hyeri!" Sey nudged my arm in order to get my attention. We were sitting in her bed in pajamas and having a girl's talk. We haven't done it for a while since we were busy and tired, and I missed it.

"What?" I asked, going back to reality.

"I was talking for the last five minutes, did you even hear what I said?"

"You talked about Himchan.." I tried my luck. Our conversation did start with him, and I figured she had a lot to say about him.

"What did I say about him?" She questioned, trying to test how much I actually heard before drifting to my own world.

"That he is an idiot but you still like him?"

"That too, but I didn't talk about that."

"I'm sorry, my mind drifted to other things.." I apologized.

"Don't tell me, I can guess what things.." She sighed.

"Come on, tell me again, I'll listen." I smiled.

"Ok, so yesterday I was on my to the cafeteria and I saw Himchan in the entrance to the company. He was flirting with the new secretary and she was giggling like a stupid school girl. I mean, can't she tell he is a playboy and that he is not serious?"

"And then what?" I asked.

"I walked past them and cleared my throat to let them know there are people who don't want to see them flirting, and that idiot just smiled at me and then caressed her cheek. He did it on purpose! He is lucky we were in public." She finished ranting.

"Well, it's partially your fault." I stated.

"No, it's not." Sey exclaimed.

"Well, you were the one that wanted to be friends with him after that night, so it's not like he is cheating on you." I reasoned.

"Still, why does he have to flirt with everyone in public like that?" She stomped her feet angrily, and it made me smile at how childish she was being.

"Wer'e talking about Himchan, he was always a flirt.."

"I hate him."

"No, your'e not. And if it bothers you so much then just go and talk to him."

"What for? It's not like we'll date because he doesn't like me that way.. Stupid Himchan."

"You don't know that."

"I'm not talking to him." She insisted.

"Then don't complain when he is acting like his normal self even if you don't like it."

"Why are you trying to convince me to confess? You know how hard it is to get rejected.."

"Yah, which side are you on?" I threw a pillow at her. "And this is a different situation."

"How?" She questioned.

"Because I knew from the start he doesn't like me. In your case I'm not sure that's the case."

"Well, I can say the same about you two.."

"No, you can't because I already confessed and got rejected."

"Then try again." She threw the pillow back at me, and I caught it.

"I did try again.." I said and burried my face in the pillow in my hands.

"What? When? Why didn't you tell me about it?" She bombard me with questions.

"I just didn't think it was important.." I said quietly.

"Then what happened?"

"He was just teasing me, and I got impatient and asked him if he liked me.." I started explaining.

"And he told you he didn't?" Sey looked at me.

"He didn't say anything. When he was about to answer his manager came to get us, and since then he is avoiding me. His answer is pretty clear from his actions.." I burried my face deeper in the pillow I held.

"It's ok.." She carresed my back, trying to encourage me.

"It's not. If he doesn't like me, why is he teasing me so much?" I whined.

"He is complicated." Sey said.

"What does that mean?" I looked at her.

"It means he is a complicated person, that's all." She ruffled my hair, and I frowned.

"Go talk to Himchan." I hit her head with the pillow, changing back the topic of our conversation.

"No." She crossed her hands over her chest.

"So stubborn.." I sighed. "Do you want me to go talk to him?"

"Don't you dare!"

"Then go. You don't have anything to lose anyway."

"I don't know.."

Yongguk was working in the recording studio when the door opened. He didn't move his eyes from the computer screen in front of him, but he could feel someone going into the room and sitting on the chair beside him. The chair moved a bit, and he could tell the person moved it closer to him.

"What is it?" He finally looked at the person sitting beside him.

"I'm bored." Sumi pouted.

"I'm not responsible for entertainning you, I'm busy." Yongguk said dryly, going back to concentrate on his work.

"Don't you want to have some fun? I can help you.." She offered and brushed her leg across his. Yongguk flinched.

"I don't do this kind of stuff." Yongguk moved his chair to the other side, getting further from her. He didn't like her presence and the direction their conversation was going.

"Maybe you should.." Sumi brought her hand to his shoulder.

"Look.." Yongguk glared at her. "I'm nice to you because wer'e in the same company, but I don't mean anything else. Not in the past, not now and not in the future, so whatever it is you want from me, I can't give it to you." He moved her hand.

"Oppa.." She whined.

"Don't oppa me, it doesn't affect me." He said dryly.

"I was just wanted to help you relax and release some tention, I didn't mean anything else.." She played innocence.

"I can relax in other ways, I don't need you help."

"Your lose." She said and stood up. Yongguk rolled his eyes. "Wer'e not over yet.."

"Something need to start first in order for it to be over.. We didn't start anything."

Yongguk stared at the computer screen when Sumi left the studio. He didn't see her mess her hair and clothes before going out.

I don't know why, but I found myself near the recording studio. Maybe I hoped to bump into Yongguk, or maybe I was just bored. Either way, my legs just took me there.

When I walked the hallway leading to the studio I saw Sumi. She got out of the studio and adjusted her clothes. Her hair was messy, and her clothes as well. She was also panting, and it didn't look like she saw me.

"Hey.." I said while I passed by her.

"Hey.." She smiled.

"Where were you?"

"At the studio. I went to keep Yongguk company while he was working.."

"Oh.." I felt a sting in my heart. Why is she keeping him company?

"He is so needy sometimes, but his girlfriend will be lucky.. He knows how to satisfy his partner.." She continued talking while playing with her hair.

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked after digesting what she said and what she was implying. It was too much information I didn't want to hear.

"I don't know.. I just thought you will be happy to know that.." She said innocently.

"I'm not. And I have nothing to do with him, so you don't have to report to me what you did or didn't do." I faked a smile.

"As you wish.." She said as she walked pass me, smiling.

After she left I did a u turn as well, going back to the practice room. I practiced for a couple of hours, trying to clear my mind.

Author's Note:

Looks like Sumi is back again with her tricks..

Daehyun's girlfriend is not really important and I don't think she will appear in the future, I just felt like I should make a short part about them as a continutaion from the last chapter..

I'm still sick and not in my best condition, hence this boring chapter.. I'm sorry.

I'll try to update again in the next couple of days, hopefully the next chapter will come out better.

Chapter 156: Wow, I was blaming both of them at 1st, as things could’ve been handled so much better on both sides. I loved how Himchan & Sey reasoned with both of them, but Hyeri crossed a line once Yongguk apologized. I didn’t feel she necessarily deserved it, but I knew they both needed it.... sure the way he apologized, did seem like a back handed apology, as her kissing technique could’ve been discussed privately. But Hyeri towards Himchan, she needs to make this better, and of course, he hit below the belt, but she had consistently hit below the belt prior & then to hit him!!! I’m not sure how this is going to turn out, thank you for updating!!

Chapter 156: I still one hundred percent believe that this entire situation is one in which Hyeri is very much at fault. I don’t think Yongguk is in a position where Hyeri requires an apology and I don’t think Hyeri even DESERVES an apology. She completely blew a small and minor incident out of proportion.

I do believe that Himchan went slightly too far with the comment he made however Hyeri shouldn’t have been as horrible to him as she was.

Chapter 155: Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!! I was BEYOND happy to see the update, wow so much happened, where to begin? I see Hyeri & Himchan are still at each other’s throats, I do wish they could get along, and that Hyeri would see the validity in what Himchan said, but no matter what, I think time stopped when Yongguk said Sumi was a better kisser. I felt bad, that super slam, even if honest, that was the time to lie. Especially knowing Hyeri... I was shocked she would kiss him after that was said, and kept thinking why does kissing Yongguk keep coming up, even after he said she wasn’t as good of a kisser. .... sighs, once again, he’s storming out and even with his stupid honestly, I can’t say I blame him. Thank you so much for coming back & for updating,

Chapter 153: Thank you for updating despite your busy schedule. I truly hope that Hyeri is ok! She let a lot of things off her chest the night before, and while I do wish she would've thought of the impact her leaving like that would have, I hope they catch her in time before she does something that would change all of their lives. Regarding the comment I just read, there's a difference between constructive criticism & just plain being rude. While it's true, being factual or doing some research on weightier subjects is a good rule of thumb, most of us are adults that don't use fanfics as our barometer of social issues. Assuming what someone's language is, was completely unnecessary to state. You don't have to read the story, if you're a writer, you should understand what it takes to create, upload & continue a story remembering details from previous chapters...etc. If you're not a writer, perhaps you should put yourself in the author's shoes before you begin.
