Chapter 106

Masks

Wednesday came, and with it another music show recording. I think I'm getting used to it now..

Today we are doing "Show Champion". We are performing "Dreams" beside our title song.

We did the pre-recording well and waited patiently for the live show to start.

While sitting in the waiting room I scrolled down my phone to read some comments and articles about us.

The first thing I did was going to our music video on youtube. The views weren't high, but maybe it'll go up soon. There were a few nice comments, but some of the comments were pretty bad. They wrote that we are copying other groups, we look awkward, the song is bad and what not.

I decided to check some articles, hoping it will be different. I found an article talking about our music video and scanned the comments:

1. [+210, -99] The music video is so pretty, but the song itself is a mess. It's just bad.

2. [+199, - 25] Did they actually choose this song? hahaha what a joke

3. [+185, -20] Bad title choice. The other songs on their album are much better.

4. [+150, -34] Girls, fighting! anyone knows the name of the red-haired girl? She's hot!

- That's Hyeri. She is the leader, main vocalist and main dancer in the group.

- She's pretty <3.

5. [+102, -12] The girl doing the acrobatics and the high notes is saving them.

- I know, right? It looks like the rest are her backup dancers.

6. [+95, -17] AOA did it better.

- haha serves them right for media-playing about them. The next AOA my .

7. [+87, -48] Please stop trying to be y, it's not working.

8. [+79, -22] So who is the unlucky oppa they wrote the song about? I would run away if I was him.

9. [+55, -43] It's really not y and not attractive. And the girls are ugly. How many plastic surgery did they get?

10. [+41, -15] AOA called, they want their concept back. You are ruining their image.

- I agree. Suddenly I appreciate them more. AOA, fighting!

11. [+32, -2] Poor B.A.P, having dongsaengs like these. They are just hopeless.

12. [+25, -1] Pepperflops. From their name to their song and their abilities, everything is a flop.

I frowned while looking at the screen. Why are they so mean? Yeah, it's not the perfect title song and I admit the song is quite bad, but we worked hard on it. Besides, we just debuted. We are still getting used to everything, and we can still improve.

"Why are you looking grumpy?" Yujin sat next to me. I showed her my phone. She read it as well and frowned, her mood obviously dropping.

"Girls, time to go." Jinu declared.

"Yes, oppa." we choired and got up from our seats.

"Hyeri." Jinu called me.

"What?"

"Smile. Whatever happens backstage should stay backstage. Your image on stage should match the song your'e performing."

"Yes, oppa." I said and joined the other girls.

I tried my best to smile while performing and I think it went well. After the performance my mood dropped again.

When we got back to the company Yongguk was at the reception, talking to the secretary.

"Babe." Yongguk grinned when he noticed me. Now the secretary turned to look at me as well.

"Hey, oppa." I mumbled. "Hey, Sohyun." I greeted her and bowed politely.

"Hey." she smiled brightly.

"Where did your smile go?" Yongguk asked me, examining my face.

"He ran away, and I can't blame him." I muttered.

"Sohyun, I'll come again tomorrow morning." Yongguk told the secretary, apologetic look on his face.

"No problem." she smiled.

"Let's go." Yongguk grabbed my hand and started leading me somewhere.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Trust me." he said and led me out of the company. A few minutes after we reached our park.

"Sit." he ordered and I sat on the bench. He sat next to me, facing me.

"Do you want to talk?" he asked gently. Yongguk knew Hyeri well enough by now, and if she doesn't want to talk he should give her time. Eventually she'll break and spill everything on her own, he just has to wait patiently.

"You should dump me, I'm just flopping and I'll only ruin your image." I said dryly.

"Not again." Yongguk sighed heavily. They had this talk countless times by now, and he still can't understand why she is so insecure about their relationship and why she can't trust him. Yeah, there is the thing with her parents, but he has proven her a lot of times already that he is there for her, so why can't she see that?

"You see? Even you are tired of it!" I exclaimed.

"I'm tired of your attitude, not because of your results."

"My attitude is just fine." I crossed my arms over my chest, annoyed.

"Yeah, right." he scoffed. "What will you do if I actually dump you?" Yongguk decided to try a different method.

"I'll kill you." I stated. I know I said he should leave, but.. I won't be able to handle it if he does.

"What should I do with you?" he sighed and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a hug.

"Just stay here." I whispered, but he heard it.

"Then stop pushing me away." he said and kissed the top of my head.

"I'm sorry.." I wrapped my arns around him. "I'm just worried about you." I unconcsiously burried my face deeper in his chest.

"How about you let me worry about that?" he caressed my hair. "You should focus on your job."

"But I'm bad at it."

"What are you talking about?" he moved backwards so now I was looking at him.

"You are important to your group." Yongguk stated, staring into my eyes.

"You have to say that because wer'e dating."

"Hyeri.." he sighed. "I'm being serious. Your group wouldn't have debuted if you weren't there, so don't say you are useless or untalented because that's a lie. Everyone can see that."

"So why are we flopping?"

"You debuted three days ago."

"And?" I exclaimed.

"You should wait until your promotion cicle ends before judging." he reasoned.

"There are a lot of bad comments." I pouted. I know it's childish, but I can't help it.

"Then let them comment. They just vent their anger that way, it doesn't mean it's true."

"It hurt." a tear slipped from the corner of my eye and streamed down my face.

"I know." he hugged me tightly.

"What do you do with it?"

"Ignore them. It doesn't worth being mad at them nor getting hurt because of it."

"I can't."

"Look.." he pulled away and took out his phone from his pocket. He typed a few things in it and showed me the screen. It was an article about us.

"What are you showing me?" I asked confused. I already saw that article earlier today, in the waiting room.

"You have some good comments as well. The comment here says you are talented." he pointed at a specific comment.

"And the one beneath it says I'm ugly." I retorted.

"They need to get their eyes checked." Yongguk smiled.

"Be serious." I pushed his shoulder lightly.

"Babe.." he caressed my cheek. "There will always be people that have something negative to say. You just have to take the good things and not the bad ones."

"I can't."

"Hyeri.." Yongguk cupped my face. "You are stronger than that. Are you really going to let some stupid comments bring you down?"

"Yes. You didn't see how mean they are."

"I don't need to see the comments to know they are bull and you can handle that. Trust me."

"How do you know?"

"You handled Zico."

"Don't mention that jerk." I glared at him. I want to forget everything that's related to that guy..

"Okay, I'm sorry." Yongguk trailed off.

"You don't care if we flop?" I asked, almost pleading.

"Of course not. Do you know how many groups took time to hit it big? Not everyone has a good start. The majority doesn't."

"But still.." I insisted.

"Still what? You don't know how you'll do because you haven't finshed promoting yet."

I stayed quiet, thinking about what he said.

"Look.." he took a strand of my hair, twisting it around his finger. It was relaxing in a way. "I know you are under a lot of pressure, but it won't help anyone if your'e like this. Have you thought about the other girls? They look up to you, so if your'e a mess they'll be one as well. You have to keep it together for them as well, at least on the surface. If you are having a hard time you can come to me. I'll always help you and I'm always here for you. Alright?"

"Alright." I said quietly. He always know what to say and what to do. He is indeed my role model and my saviour, in so many ways.

"Oppa.."

"What?" he smiled his precious gummy smile.

"You are amazing."

"I know." he smirked and I hit his chest.

"Thank you." I said sincerely.

"If you're thankful then make it up to me."

"What do you want?" I asked, suspicious. He pointed at his lips. I inched closer, pecking his lips softly. When I wanted to pull away he held me in place.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked when he kept staring at me without saying anything.

"You are just pretty." he said and I could feel my face heat up. Luckily it was dark, so he couldn't see me blush.

"I barely slept at night and I'm tired after a long day. There is no way I look good." I reasoned.

"Cute." he smiled. "Let's go home, you need to get up early tomorrow." he stood up and stretched his hand, waiting for me to take it. I entwined our hands together and he walked me home.

"What are you doing?" Daehyun sat next to Youngjae on the couch in the living room in their doem. Youngjae was focused on his ipad screen, watching something.

"Watching the performances of the girls from today." the younger male answered without lifting his eyes from the screen.

"I should have known from the way you are drooling.." Daehyun teased.

"How about you go support your girlfriend instead of bothering me? Don't you have to stream her music video or something?" Youngjae retorted.

"Why are you so sensitive?" Daehyun pondered.

"I'M NOT!"

"What's wrong?" Jongup entered the living room after hearing Youngjae raising his voice.

"I disturbed him watching his girlfriend." Daehyun said, pointing at Youngjae.

"SHE IS NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" Youngjae exploded and stormed out of the room.

"Well, she should be.." Jongup muttered while watching Youngjae walk away.

"Feeling better?" Yongguk asked when we stood outside my building.

"Yes." I grinned. "Thank you." I squeezed his hand.

"Sleep well, beautiful girl. Don't let it affect you."

"I'll try."

"Good night, babe." he pecked my forehead.

"Why are yo so stingy?" I pouted.

"Huh?"  Yongguk looked confused. He was just trying to cheer her up, what did he do wrong?

Looking at his confused expression, I grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him closer to me, attaching our lips together for a sweet kiss.

"What was that?" he asked when we parted, grinning.

"I haven't seen you the whole day, I missed you." I stated.

"In that case.." he wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer. "Show me how much you missed me, captain."

"I hate this nickname!" I pulled away, annoyed.

"You are cute when your'e annoyed."

"I'm going home!" I declared and turned my back to him, aiming to go inside.

"I'm sorry." he grabbed my arm, turning me around so I'll face him.

I stayed still, looking blankly.

"I." he cupped my face and pecked my lips. "Missed." another peck. "You." a third one. "A lot." a forth peck.

"I'm still mad." I stated. "Try harder."

"Alright." Yongguk pulled me into a heated kiss. My hands moved to grab his hair while his hands went to my back.

"Better?" he asked, smirking, when we parted because the lack of air. I was still trying to catch my breath.

"I like it when I leave you breathless." he commented when I stayed quiet, the annoying smirk still there.

"Shut up." I muttered.

"Better work on that stamina of yours, babe.. I'll want much more when the day comes.." he winked and my face heated. He did not just make fun of my stamina! That's one of my strongest points.

"I'm ing promoting and I'm dead tired, not to mention my choreography is damn complicated and exhausting. If you want to test my stamina, let's do it when wer'e not promoting."

"Wait, does it mean you are fine with sleeping with me?" he smirked.

"Just go home." I pushed him towards the trail leading to his dorm and the company.

"You didn't deny it!" he exclaimed while I rolled my eyes.

"JUST GO!"

Chapter 156: Wow, I was blaming both of them at 1st, as things could’ve been handled so much better on both sides. I loved how Himchan & Sey reasoned with both of them, but Hyeri crossed a line once Yongguk apologized. I didn’t feel she necessarily deserved it, but I knew they both needed it.... sure the way he apologized, did seem like a back handed apology, as her kissing technique could’ve been discussed privately. But Hyeri towards Himchan, she needs to make this better, and of course, he hit below the belt, but she had consistently hit below the belt prior & then to hit him!!! I’m not sure how this is going to turn out, thank you for updating!!

Chapter 156: I still one hundred percent believe that this entire situation is one in which Hyeri is very much at fault. I don’t think Yongguk is in a position where Hyeri requires an apology and I don’t think Hyeri even DESERVES an apology. She completely blew a small and minor incident out of proportion.

I do believe that Himchan went slightly too far with the comment he made however Hyeri shouldn’t have been as horrible to him as she was.

Chapter 155: Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!! I was BEYOND happy to see the update, wow so much happened, where to begin? I see Hyeri & Himchan are still at each other’s throats, I do wish they could get along, and that Hyeri would see the validity in what Himchan said, but no matter what, I think time stopped when Yongguk said Sumi was a better kisser. I felt bad, that super slam, even if honest, that was the time to lie. Especially knowing Hyeri... I was shocked she would kiss him after that was said, and kept thinking why does kissing Yongguk keep coming up, even after he said she wasn’t as good of a kisser. .... sighs, once again, he’s storming out and even with his stupid honestly, I can’t say I blame him. Thank you so much for coming back & for updating,

Chapter 155: WOOP WOOP!! MY FAVE FANFIC IS BACK!!! And OMG this is spicy as hell. I just wish Hyeri would stop being a drama queen and finally realise that she needs to get some help and that Yongguk loves her.

Chapter 153: Thank you for updating despite your busy schedule. I truly hope that Hyeri is ok! She let a lot of things off her chest the night before, and while I do wish she would've thought of the impact her leaving like that would have, I hope they catch her in time before she does something that would change all of their lives. Regarding the comment I just read, there's a difference between constructive criticism & just plain being rude. While it's true, being factual or doing some research on weightier subjects is a good rule of thumb, most of us are adults that don't use fanfics as our barometer of social issues. Assuming what someone's language is, was completely unnecessary to state. You don't have to read the story, if you're a writer, you should understand what it takes to create, upload & continue a story remembering details from previous chapters...etc. If you're not a writer, perhaps you should put yourself in the author's shoes before you begin.
