Chapter 18

Masks

That night I practiced until morning. In the morning I practiced with the girls and afterwards I kept practicing by myself. It was the only way not to think about my problems and about him.

Eventually I told the CEO that I'm staying, and that I'm going to do whatever they tell me to, even if I don't like it. I can't ruin the other girls dream, they worked hard for it. I just need to find a way to deal with my issues, somehow.

I didn't see the boys in the two weeks that followed, and it gave me time to focus on my practice. It's the most important thing right now, since I only have one target - Debuting. The rest is insignificant.

My two weeks of avoiding them ended when Jinu gathered all of us in the practice room on the second floor. Beside us I saw Gun and some other staff there, along with someone I recognized as B.A.P's choreographer.

The girls talked happily to B.A.P, while I sat on the floor in the corner of the room by myself.

Yongguk didn't pay any attention to Yujin, who was talking to him. He was there physically, pretending he heard everything she said, but his mind was with Hyeri. He glanced over to her, only to see that she is sitting alone on the side, her knees folded and her head resting between her hands. She looked bad, like she hadn't slept for days, and he noticed she lost weight. It made her look older, but she was still pretty to him.

"Yongguk!" Yujin raised her voice a little in order to get his attention. He was staring at Hyeri a little too long, so he lost track of what Yujin said.

"What?" He asked.

"What do you think about the new secretary?"

"Mmm.. I don't know, I didn't talk to her that much.."

"I think she likes you, she asked me if your'e single."

"What did you answer?"

"That you are single, but you can't date because of the dating ban." Yujin smiled.

"Don't lie to people!" Yongguk scolded her. "She will know your'e lying because we don't have a dating ban anymore."

"Maybe, but until then she won't bug you."

"Thanks.. What would I have done without you managing my love life?" Yongguk asked sarcastically.

"You'll be lost." Yujin smiled.

I looked around the room. Himchan was talking to Sey enthusiastically about something, and it made me smile. They look good together.

Daehyun and Youngjae were talking to Eun Hee, Zelo and Jongup were talking to Gun and their choreographer, and Sumi was talking to one of the girls that worked in the Public Relations department.

Unknowingly, my eyes wandered to Yongguk. He was smiling while talking to Yujin. I frowned unintentionally. Of course he is smiling, it's not like he felt anything anyway.. It's just me who is suffering by myself. Well, maybe it's better this way, without distractions. I don't have time for this.

"Great, your'e here." Jinu entered the room with B.A.P's manager, getting everyone's attention. "Well, as you all know, B.A.P is having a comeback soon.. We asked all of you to be here because we need girls for their stage, so your'e going to be their backup dancers for this comeback." At this point the girls got excited, and you could tell they had a hard time staying quiet because of it. "It's also a good opportunity for you to experience music shows and being on stage and we can test the people's reaction towards you. And your'e going to be in the music video as well." Now there was a lot of noise inside the room. Everyone looked happy, but for some reason I couldn't feel the same.

"One last thing." Jinu's voice was heard once again. All the eyes in the room was staring at him. "Since B.A.P's concept is hip hop, Hyeri, you have a small dance part with Jongup and Zelo."

"Ok.." I tried to smile. Jongup and Zelo smiled warmly at me, giving me a thumbs up. It already made me feel a little better and more excited about this. Being with them won't be that bad, I just need to ignore him.

"Oh, and girls, your'e not going to be with B.A.P all the time, so your'e still practicing on your things as well. I will give you your new scheduels after I talk to their manager and figure some things out. Now go practice." He smiled brightly and went to a different room with B.A.P's manager. Other people started to leave shortly after. At the end there was only us (B.A.P and the girls) and the two choreographers.

Most of the time B.A.P tried to learn their choreography and we only watched them from the side, since their choreography was much more complicated than ours and we were mainly in the background anyway. It was amusing and refreshing watching them reharse. They are hardworking, but also fool around quite a lot while practicing. You can tell how close they are by the way they joke around or just talking to each other casually.

Yongguk had the most trouble remembering the dance, and as expected, Zelo and Jongup learned it the fastest. Their song has a nice hip hop concept. A little old school, but good. It's the first time I heard it, but Yongguk never disappoints in terms of making music.

The boys got a short break, and Daehyun came to sit next to me, drinking water.

"What's up?" He asked.

"Good.." I smiled.

"You don't look good." He stated, placing his water bottle on the floor.

"Not you as well.. I already had enough of this from Sey.." I sighed.

"Then maybe we are right." He tried to reason, and I scoffed. "Are you eating? You look like you lost weight."

"I'm fine. I'm just not hungry and I practice a lot."

"Don't do that." Daehyun said softly.

"Yes, mom!" I said sarcastically.

"Speaking of moms, what's with your hair? you look like an ahjumma right now. No one will want you like that." He joked.

"You sure know how to compliment a girl, don't you?" I asked, making him laugh. "My hair is completly fine." I said while runnig my fingers through it. "And don't worry, I'm not intrested in guys anyway."

"Not even him?" He asked and pointed to a specific person.

"Especially not him."

"Hyeri, come here." Gun called me over. "We want to do your part with Jongup and Zelo."

"Ok.." I went over and stood between the two younger guys. Gun and Minki, the other choreographer, showed us the dance and it was quite simple. I needed to do a 'competition' with the two boys, while the boys try to impress me. I managed to understand that part of the music video will be filmed in a club, and this is where my part with them comes. It's supposed to show their dance abilities, and it's also conected to the plot of the music video because they supposedly fight over me.

Making long story short - This dance will be in the music video and in the live performances as well.

We started practicing while everyone else were watching. While I danced I felt like someone is staring intently at me, but when I looked around the room everyone was looking elsewhere. Maybe it was just my imagination..

~

Yongguk kept staring at Hyeri. Even when he practiced his eyes wandered to her, which caused him to make even more mistakes than usual. When She practiced with Jongup and Zelo he had a lot of time to examine her. Her hair was messy, her face was pale, and her body was skinnier than usual. She definitely lost weight. She looked like she would break from every small wind. It made him worry, especially if it's his fault. When she almost caught him looking at her he looked away.

"How are you?" Himchan asked while sitting down next to him.

"She will be fine, right?" Yongguk asked while staring at Hyeri, ignoring Himchan's question.

"Don't worry." Himchan patted Yongguk's back, trying to cheer him up. Hyeri looked bad, but Yongguk wasn't doing well himself. He wouldn't say anything, but Himchan knew him well enough to notice.

~

"Ouch!" I cried in pain when my body touched the floor. I suddenly felt a little dizzy, so I stopped for a moment to rest, but it caused Zelo to bump into me, and both of us fell to the floor. More correctly - I fell on the floor and Zelo fell on top of me, his face close to mine.

"I'm sorry!" Zelo apologized and got up quickly, helping me to get up. I think his face got a little red, but maybe it's just my imagination.

"Don't be, it's my fault." I said while getting up and adjusting my clothes. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine, as long as your'e ok." Zelo smiled.

The dizziness came back, so I closed my eyes, hoping it will go away like that. When I opened them again I was lying at the floor and everyone was crouching around me, worried looks on their faces.

"W.. What.. Happened?" I asked confused.

"You fainted." Youngjae informed me.

"Here." Daehyun gave me a bottle of water and a piece of chocolate.

"Thanks." I said while taking it from him. I drank the water and ate the chocolate. It made me feel a little better.

"Better?" Himchan asked.

"Yes."

"Good." He smiled.

"I'm sorry."

"Yah! You idiot! When was the last time you ate?" Sey shouted at me.

"I.. Don't know.. Two days.. Maybe?" I stuttered. I actually can't remember when was the last time I ate properly. I wasn't hungry, so I just ate when I felt like it, which was rare in the last two weeks, or when I wasn't feeling well.

"Two days?!" Her voice got even higher. "Are you starving yourself?"

"I'm not. I just wasn't hungry." I said quietly. Why is she yelling at me?

"Stop yelling at her, can't you see she is not feeling well?" Himchan scolded Sey.

"Stay out of it." She shot him a glare, and he trailed off. "Come here." She said to me and signaled me to get up. I tried, but I felt dizzy again, so I sat down on the floor.

"Stop bugging her." Himchan said once again, this time in a more stern tone.

"You and I need to talk." Sey said to Himchan dryly.

"After you.." Himchan said and pointed toward the door, signaling her to go there.

"What the hell do you think your'e doing?" Himchan asked Sey when they were in a more isolated part of the hallway.

"I should ask you that. Why are you interferring in someone else's buisness?"

"So now worry about my friends is interferring in someone else's buisness?" Himchan asked sarcasically.

"I didn't know she was that good friend of yours.." Sey answered with the same tone. "How about you worry about your best friend first so he won't hurt my best friend?"

"You were the one making a fuss when he wanted to get close to her, don't blame him when he did what you wanted him to do." Himchan raised his voice a little.

"Do you really don't understand why I was against it? She is too innocent to be part of this mess. She is not like us."

"I know that. But don't you think he can protect her?"

"Yeah, right.. You know what happened the last time he tried to protect someone.." Himchan was quiet for a while. He knew she was right, but he still felt uneasy.

"What happened the last time Yongguk tried to protect someone?" I asked. I went outside to look for Sey, and I accidently heard part of their conversation. The color drained from their faces. They weren't expecting me out there.

"No.. Nothing.." Sey stuttered.

"Stop lying to me." I said dryly.

"I'm not."

"What is your problem with Yongguk?"

"I don't have a problem with him."

"If you don't, then why are you always so against me hanging out with him?" I questioned.

"It's.. complicated." Sey said quietly.

"Hyeri.." Himchan said softly.

"Please tell me.." I pleaded. "I'm going crazy because all of you are hiding stuff from me and I don't understand anything anymore."

"Hyeri, stop trying to find things about me, wer'e not connected." Yongguk said dryly. He went to stand next to Himchan, looking at me. Why am I not surprised he is here? "I already told you I'm not intrested, so stop being pathetic and come after me all the time.. Have some dignity."

I just turned around and walked away, trying to hide my tears. What the hell am I doing anyway? I told him to stay away from me because he obviously doesn't like me, so why am I going around and trying to figure out why he is acting like that? I should realy stop hoping he likes me somewhere deep inside because that's obviously a lie. I took a deep breath. Ok, it was a one time stumble, I won't do it again. I need to control myself better and ignore him.

"He doesn't exist and I don't care about him." I said, trying to convince myself.

~

"Nice save, dude." Himchn patted Yongguk's back.

"Shut up." Yongguk moved, so Himcahn's hand fell.

"Yongguk.." Himchan said softly.

"Are you happy now?" Yongguk glared at Sey.

"Don't blame me for this, you know your'e responsible for it." She answered.

"I won't let it happen again. Once was enough."

"I'm not taking that risk, so whatever feelings you have for her, get rid of them."

"Don't worry, it's not like she'll want me now even if I try to.." Yongguk said sadly.

"Serves you right." Sey said dryly and walked away, looking for Hyeri.

Author's Note:

I feel like it's becoming a little repetitive, but I promise it will be the last time.. Hyeri is not that pathetic.

And there are fun chapters ahead since there are more interactions between B.A.P and the girls.. And there are some other stuff beside that, just wait patienly ^^

I'll try to update once more until Sunday, and then I'll see how it goes.

P.S. - The boys won on "Music Bank" today! I'm proud of them, they deserved it <3

Thanks for reading :)

Chapter 156: Wow, I was blaming both of them at 1st, as things could’ve been handled so much better on both sides. I loved how Himchan & Sey reasoned with both of them, but Hyeri crossed a line once Yongguk apologized. I didn’t feel she necessarily deserved it, but I knew they both needed it.... sure the way he apologized, did seem like a back handed apology, as her kissing technique could’ve been discussed privately. But Hyeri towards Himchan, she needs to make this better, and of course, he hit below the belt, but she had consistently hit below the belt prior & then to hit him!!! I’m not sure how this is going to turn out, thank you for updating!!

Chapter 156: I still one hundred percent believe that this entire situation is one in which Hyeri is very much at fault. I don’t think Yongguk is in a position where Hyeri requires an apology and I don’t think Hyeri even DESERVES an apology. She completely blew a small and minor incident out of proportion.

I do believe that Himchan went slightly too far with the comment he made however Hyeri shouldn’t have been as horrible to him as she was.

Chapter 155: Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!! I was BEYOND happy to see the update, wow so much happened, where to begin? I see Hyeri & Himchan are still at each other’s throats, I do wish they could get along, and that Hyeri would see the validity in what Himchan said, but no matter what, I think time stopped when Yongguk said Sumi was a better kisser. I felt bad, that super slam, even if honest, that was the time to lie. Especially knowing Hyeri... I was shocked she would kiss him after that was said, and kept thinking why does kissing Yongguk keep coming up, even after he said she wasn’t as good of a kisser. .... sighs, once again, he’s storming out and even with his stupid honestly, I can’t say I blame him. Thank you so much for coming back & for updating,

Chapter 155: WOOP WOOP!! MY FAVE FANFIC IS BACK!!! And OMG this is spicy as hell. I just wish Hyeri would stop being a drama queen and finally realise that she needs to get some help and that Yongguk loves her.

Chapter 153: Thank you for updating despite your busy schedule. I truly hope that Hyeri is ok! She let a lot of things off her chest the night before, and while I do wish she would've thought of the impact her leaving like that would have, I hope they catch her in time before she does something that would change all of their lives. Regarding the comment I just read, there's a difference between constructive criticism & just plain being rude. While it's true, being factual or doing some research on weightier subjects is a good rule of thumb, most of us are adults that don't use fanfics as our barometer of social issues. Assuming what someone's language is, was completely unnecessary to state. You don't have to read the story, if you're a writer, you should understand what it takes to create, upload & continue a story remembering details from previous chapters...etc. If you're not a writer, perhaps you should put yourself in the author's shoes before you begin.
