Chapter 20

Masks

I woke up with my head throbbing. It felt like someone is hitting my head with a hammer, and it just kept getting worse.

I searched for my phone to see what time it is, but I couldn't find it. I opened my eyes and looked around the room. The girls were sleeping soundly in their beds, so I assumed it was still early. I took my phone out of my bag that was laying on the edge of my bed. I checked the time - 5:55 in the morning. It's definitely too early to be awake.

I closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep again, but my headache didn't allow me too. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to look for a painkiller.

On my way back I stopped by the kitchen to drink water, and I saw food on the table. On a closer look I noticed that it was hangover soup. I'm grateful to whoever did this, since it's what I probably need the most right now. Why did I drink so much last night?

~

"Morning." Himchan went into the kitchen in the boys dorm. Yongguk and Daehyun were already there, making breakfast.

"Good morning hyung." Daehyun greeted him smiling. Yongguk just nodded.

"What's for breakfast?" Himchan asked while sitting down near the table, rubbing the back of his head.

"Hangover soup for you." Daehyun answered.

"Good, my head hurts." Himchan burried his head in his hands.

"Himchan.." Yongguk said after looking at Himchan for a while.

"What?" Himchan lifted his head to look at him.

"What were you doing last night?"

"Nothing, I was at the party, you saw me there." Himchan was confused.

"You got home late." Yongguk stated.

"It just happened that way.."

"What did you do?" Yongguk repeated the question. "Or should I ask who did you do it with?"

"What?" now Himchan was utterly confused. His head hurt and he had no idea what Yongguk wanted from him this early in the morning.

"Go look in the mirror." Yongguk said dryly.

Himchan got up and went to the bathroom to examine himself. He noticed immediately what Yongguk meant - he had a pretty big hickey on his neck. He lifted his shirt a little, just to see that his body is covered with different marks. Images from the previous night started popping in his head, and he wanted to hit himself for being so stupid and reckless.

~

"Why are you still in bed?" I went to Sey and sat on the floor next to her bed. She was obviously awake, but she didn't want to get up.

"I want to stay here forever." She said and burried herself deeper in her blanket, covering herself completly.

"What happened?" I asked worriedly. It's not like her.

"I want to die. I'm so stupid."

"What's wrong?"

"I.. I'm an idiot." Sey mumbled.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked softly. I don't like being bothered when I don't want to talk, and I didn't want to do the same to her.

"Can we?" She sat slowly on her bed. She removed the blanket from her face so she could talk.

"Sure." I smiled. "What is it?"

"Promise me you won't get mad." She hesitated.

"I won't." I assured her.

"I.. I.. slept with him." She said in a barely audible voice.

"You.. What? How?"

"Do you really want the technical details?"

"What? No!" I said in disgust. The last thing I want right now is to imagine both of them doing it in details. "I just don't understand how you let this happen."

"I don't know.. we were drunk, and it just happened somehow.."

"Ok.. So isn't it a good thing? At least you know he wants you.."

"He doesn't want me." She shrugged. "It happened because we were drunk and we weren't aware of what we were doing. He probably regrets it right now.. How am I supposed to face him?" Sey burried her face in her hands.

"Relax.." I sat next to her and hugged her. "You don't know that yet."

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Just talk to him. Your'e not a mind reader, and neither am I. You won't know what he thinks if you won't ask him."

"What if he says no?" She looked so hopeless and scared while asking it.

"Then at least you will have a memory from him and you could move on because you'll know he is not intrested."

"A memory.." She said quietly, thinking about what I said.

"Was it good at least?" I asked, trying to lighten the atmosphere.

"Yes.. He is amazing." Sey answered with a dreamy face.

~

"Your'e an idiot!" Yongguk shouted at Himchan when he went back to the living room. The other boys were there as well.

"I'm sorry." Himchan said quietly.

"Sorry? That's all you have to say? Do you even know how much you messed up right now?" Yongguk just seem to get more and more angry in each minute that passed. Why is he so mad anyway?

"It was a mistake." Himchan tried to explain.

"That's even worse!" Yongguk continued shouting. "If your'e not serious with her you shouldn't have done it in the first place, I don't care how drunk you were."

"Don't pretend to be innocent. You would have done the same if Hyeri threw herself on you, even if you were sober." Himchan shot back.

"I didn't do anything to her yesterday, I don't take advantage of drunk ladies." Yongguk retorted.

"Neither am I. And stop making it sound like I her or something, both of us agreed on doing it."

"What's wrong with you?" Yongguk sighed. "From all the girls in the world, why her?"

"Because I like her!" Himchan finally admitted it. The room fell silent for a moment, shocked from Himchan's sudden confession. He was shocked as well. He didn't plan to admit it, but maybe it's better to put all the cards on the table.

"Himchan.." Yongguk broke the silence. "You know we can't do this."

"Why? I'm not like you. I won't hurt her."

"It's not that. She is still a trainee and she has a dating ban. She will be kicked out if someone finds out about this.."

"Don't give me that bull!" Himchan snapped. "You still hang out with Hyeri even though you know your'e not supposed to. She would have been kicked out long ago because of you if she didn't get a special treatment."

"I'M NOT HANGING OUT WITH HER ANYMORE!" Yongguk screamed. Why does Himchan have to mention her all the time when he is trying to forget about her?

"Hyung.." Zelo said, trying to calm them down before things got worse and before they'll hit each other.

"SHUT UP!" Himchan yelled at him, and Zelo trailed off.

"Sey doesn't have a speacial treatment like Hyeri, so she will be kicked out." Yongguk said calmly, getting back to the conversation with Himchan. "Do you want to test it?"

"No." Himchan said quietly. He does have a point..

"Good." Yongguk said. "Apologize to her when you see her."

"Fine." Himchan sighed and turned to walk away, back to his room.

"Himchan!" Yongguk called after him.

"What?"

"You used protection, right?"

"Of course I did, I'm not an idiot!"

~

"Yujin.." I asked while we were waiting in the practice room for the boys to come. It was already afternoon and we were supposed to have a rehearsal together.

"What is it?" She looked at me.

"How did I get home last night?"

"Oh.. Hmm.." She looked like she was struggling to find an answer. Shouidn't it be easy to answer if she was the one opening the door last night?

"I thought you said you saw me coming home.."

"I did, I did!" She panicked.

"So how did I get home?"

"Mmm.. Zelo brought you home!" She said when the boys entered. Zelo entered the room first, Yongguk following him, and then the rest.

"So why did it took you so long answering?" I .

"Sorry.." She rubbed her head. "I guess I was a little out of it yesterday as well."

"It's ok.." I smiled. "Thanks."

"Zelo!" I jumped on him when we had a break.

"How is your hangover?" He asked worriedly.

"Better." I smiled. "Thanks for bringing me home yesterday."

"Home.. What? Noona, I didn't.." He said confused.

"You walked her home yesterday, why are you lying?" Yongguk asked Zelo while glaring at him. He wasn't far from us when we started talking, so I guess he heard our conversation and decided to in.

"Oh, right! I walked you home. I'm so forgetful lately, it's probably from lack of sleep.. I'm glad your'e fine." Zelo said in an exaggerated tone. It looked like he was trying to lie to me, but why?

"Thanks for bringing me home." I smiled.

"Don't drink too much next time. Your'e such a burden." Yongguk muttered.

"I'm not your burden, so you have nothing to worry about." I faked a smile. What do I even find in this idiot?

~

"Hey.." Himchan approached Sey, who was standing alone and drinking water.

"Hey.." She was staring at the floor, trying to dig a hole in it with her stare. She hoped the ground would tear open and bury her inside.

"Can we talk for a moment?"

"Y.. Yes.." She stuttered.

"Can you at least look at me?" Himchan pleaded.

"Yes.." Sey finally lifted her head, but she was still trying not to look in his eyes. It was too much for her at the moment.

"Listen, about last night.." Himchan started talking.

"Oh, don't worry about it! I know it was just a mistke.. We were drunk and it shouldn't have happened. I'm sorry!" She cut him off and started apologizing and bowing to him.

"Right.. A mistake.." Himchan repeated after her, and his heart slowly sank. He had liked her for a while now, but she never took his flirts seriously, so he thought that she never liked him back. Last night he drank and he finally gathered up some courage to talk to her, but she was drunk as well. He didn't mean to, but somehow they ended up sleeping together. He was going to talk to her today and ask her to go out with him, but looks like she only sees him as a friend after all..

"So are we still friends?" Sey smiled.

"S.. Sure.." Himchan stuttered, unlike him.

"Great." She was still smiling.

"Ah, I just remembered I need to talk to Daehyun about somethng, see you in a bit." Himchan found an excuse to go, so he won't have to be in this akward situation.

"You better go then."

Himchan went to talk to Daehyun, leaving Sey by herself. She wiped her tears so people wouldn't notice she is crying.

~

"Oppa!" Sumi called sweetly. Yongguk sighed when he saw her approaching him.

" off."

"Your'e mean." She pouted. "I brought you water." She handed him a bottle.

"Thanks." He took it without looking at her and drank half of it in one gulp.

"Here, let me wipe your sweat off." She said and started touching his face with a towel, wiping off the sweat.

"What are you doing?" He glared at her.

"I'm trying to help." She faked innocence.

"Yeah, right." He muttered. Yongguk didn't know what she was playing, but he didn't like it at all. After their recent clash he couldn't let his guard down around her.

~

"Idiot.." I mumbled when I saw Yongguk and Sumi.

"Why are you talking to yourself?" Sey asked and sat beside me.

"Because I'm an idiot." I sighed.

"Well, that makes both of us." She sighed as well.

"Why?" I stared at her. "Did you talk to him?"

"Yes.. I told him we should just be friends."

"Why?!" I raised my voice a little, but not too much so we won't draw attention.

"Because I'm an idiot. And I'm scared." She admitted.

"Did he say something else?"

"No."

~

"And one, two, three, jump, five, six, seven, eight.." Gun continued shouting instructions while we tried to follow them.

"That doesn't make any sense!" I complained when we finished. "It's too hard, there is no way we can do it."

"It's not that hard, stop being a crybaby." Yongguk said. Did he just scolded me? What is wrong with him today?

"Bang Yongguk, I'm not talking to you." I muttered, not looking at him.

"Good, your voice gives me headache." Now I was glaring at him furiously.

"What is wrong with you?"

"I'm perfectly fine, the problem is obviously you."

"I don't know what is your problem, but don't take your anger out on me."

"Why? Are you the only that can do it?" He glared at me. "And my problem is you. What are you going to do about it?" He got closer to me. Honestly, I was a bit scared from the way he glared at me. He had anger in his eyes, and it was the first time I saw him like that.

"You don't have to be around me, problem solved." I tried to keep my calm.

"Your'e still here.." He stated.

"I didn't do it on purpose!" I was starting to get irritated. What the heck?! He can't possibly blame me for this..

"Are you sure about it?" He questioned.

"Yes, but you won't believe me anyway." I said annoyed. He shrugged.

"Your'e such a kid.." I sighed.

"Because you are an adult.." Yongguk said sarcastically.

"If your'e doing an infantility competiton both of you win." Himchan said. "Could you please sort out your problems outside of our rehearsal? I'm tired and want to sleep, and your childish argument is the reason wer'e still here." He grumbled.

"You are in no position to judge them about being childish, you are much worse." Sey said to Himchan.

"Why are you getting involved?" Himchan glared at her.

"Because I want to. Why?" Sey answered him.

"This is not relevant to you, stop butting in in their problems."

"I will when you'll stop doing it as well."

I kept arguing with Yongguk, Sey kept arguing with Himchan, and soon it became a heated argument between everyone in the room.

"ENOUGH!" Gun screamed in order to get everyone's attention. "I don't know what has gotten into all of you today, but you are really impatient and hard to work with. Let's finish it for the day.. I hope you'll get back to your senses until tomorrow's rehearsal."

Author's Note:

I'm sorry this chapter is lame.. It looked better in my imagination, I just couldn't write it properly :\

I'm not sure if it was obvious enough in the last chapter, so just a clarification (or a hint) - the "her" in the first text massage that Yongguk recieved reffered to the person Yongguk couldn't protect (they talked about it in the chapter before that).

P.S - Second Win for "Young, Wild & Free" :)

Chapter 156: Wow, I was blaming both of them at 1st, as things could’ve been handled so much better on both sides. I loved how Himchan & Sey reasoned with both of them, but Hyeri crossed a line once Yongguk apologized. I didn’t feel she necessarily deserved it, but I knew they both needed it.... sure the way he apologized, did seem like a back handed apology, as her kissing technique could’ve been discussed privately. But Hyeri towards Himchan, she needs to make this better, and of course, he hit below the belt, but she had consistently hit below the belt prior & then to hit him!!! I’m not sure how this is going to turn out, thank you for updating!!

Chapter 156: I still one hundred percent believe that this entire situation is one in which Hyeri is very much at fault. I don’t think Yongguk is in a position where Hyeri requires an apology and I don’t think Hyeri even DESERVES an apology. She completely blew a small and minor incident out of proportion.

I do believe that Himchan went slightly too far with the comment he made however Hyeri shouldn’t have been as horrible to him as she was.

Chapter 155: Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!! I was BEYOND happy to see the update, wow so much happened, where to begin? I see Hyeri & Himchan are still at each other’s throats, I do wish they could get along, and that Hyeri would see the validity in what Himchan said, but no matter what, I think time stopped when Yongguk said Sumi was a better kisser. I felt bad, that super slam, even if honest, that was the time to lie. Especially knowing Hyeri... I was shocked she would kiss him after that was said, and kept thinking why does kissing Yongguk keep coming up, even after he said she wasn’t as good of a kisser. .... sighs, once again, he’s storming out and even with his stupid honestly, I can’t say I blame him. Thank you so much for coming back & for updating,

Chapter 153: Thank you for updating despite your busy schedule. I truly hope that Hyeri is ok! She let a lot of things off her chest the night before, and while I do wish she would've thought of the impact her leaving like that would have, I hope they catch her in time before she does something that would change all of their lives. Regarding the comment I just read, there's a difference between constructive criticism & just plain being rude. While it's true, being factual or doing some research on weightier subjects is a good rule of thumb, most of us are adults that don't use fanfics as our barometer of social issues. Assuming what someone's language is, was completely unnecessary to state. You don't have to read the story, if you're a writer, you should understand what it takes to create, upload & continue a story remembering details from previous chapters...etc. If you're not a writer, perhaps you should put yourself in the author's shoes before you begin.
