The Duplex
Downing Today, Drowning Tomorrowthemedicalscholar: Hey guys. Honestly, I feel really guilty. It's been a while, hasn't it? I promised a lot of things, and did not deliver; I apologize for that. My classes has started and I have been swamped with a ton of coursework, I hope you guys understand. Anyways, how have you guys been? It has almost been a month since I updated and seriously, I can't stop thinking about it. So I placed everything on pause, and wrote. I wrote a few drafts of the chapter, trying to know what works and what doesn't, but it just didn't feel right though. I hope you guys are well, my usual commentors, @spartace_suki, @Tirison, @Feathertail_1203, @MrsStar; I hope you guys are well and healthy. Anyways, please rememeber to vote, subscribe and most of all, comment. Again, I'm really sorry for not updating regularly. I'm trying to be as punctual as I can these days, really. Please, enjoy the new chapter.
Song Ji Hyo stayed at Lee Kwang Soo's regularly. She would cook, sometimes clean since it's not such a big forte of hers. They would both stay up all night, either watching movies, listening to music or anything at all; even chatting about what they read in the morning paper; it didn't matter. When they both got back from the Running Man filming, they were swamped. Sitting in the living room, the TV was on but it was on mute. Instead of actually watching the TV, they watched each other instead. They were infatuated with each other. It was not such a big deal to them, even silence became comfortable to them. But abruptly, Lee Kwang Soo who sat opposite of her changed places and sat next to her. He took out something from her pocket, a piece of paper. It was a print-out of some kind. Without even saying anything, he gave her that piece of paper.
A two-bedroom apartment for sale, written on the paper. It was a duplex. Spacious, and has the entire view of the Han River. 'What is this?' She finally spoke, breaking the comfortable silence.
'It's a house. A duplex. I checked it out, the place a few days ago, it was nice so I just wanted to see if you liked it.' He says simply. It has been weeks since they talked about the house, and she would never think that he was doing it actively. No wonder while she was in bed, he was in his s outudy.'There's another room, not that big that you would call it a bedroom. That could be our study. Two bathrooms, one in the master bedroom, another outside.' He says.
'Water pressure?' She asked.
'Good, excellent actually.'
'Sunlight exposure?'
'High. You don't need the lights during the day.'
'Kitchen?'
'Functional, fully-equipped.'
'But we have a supermarket downstairs.' She says, scratching the back of her head and sniffing.
'There's one too, downstairs. A decent 7 Eleven, good access to public transport, a pharmacy.'
She smiles at him. 'You've thought everything out, haven't you? The things that I like?' She says. He nods. 'How about the deposit?'
'It's quite high, but it's kind of predictable in this economy. But I have enough money for it.' Kwang Soo answers, holding her hand. 'What I need from you, is a green light. Are you going to give it to me?' He asks.
She looks at him, and she knew he was earnest. He was making it work, even in ways that she did not see. And to her, that was enough for her. 'Lee Kwang Soo, what to do? You're going to spoil this noona less.' She says, smiling at him. But this is what he wanted, he wanted her to smile greatly at him; he wanted her to see that he was capable and that he was as serious into this relationship as she was.
'You know what, if we do this, the press is going to find out. They have tips with every real estate in the country.' She says. 'Are you up for that?'
'Are you, noona?'
She nods lightly.
'Then I am too. I feel like if it's you, I can do anything with you. I'm not scared, I'm not frightened of anything else but losing you.' He touched her cheeks, she closes her eyes lightly. There were a million of different guys that could have had her, and Lee Kwang Soo lucky that she chose him.
'When are we going to tell the others? The media.' Song Ji Hyo asked.
He shrugs. 'I guess, when they know for themselves. Isn't that what being a celebrity is, getting caught?' Lee Kwang Soo says in a cheeky smile.
'Smart man.' She says.
'Noona, I love you.' He says, he did not touch her or anything. He merely said it, and he was honest about it.
'I love you too.'
Simply, desperately; easily. The two people that took so much time finding each other, finally caught up with each other's pace.
