Get Over It

Downing Today, Drowning Tomorrow

Have you ever felt like you miss someone even when they're there in front of you? Like they're there, spending time with you, but then you don't really feel like they're there. You just feel like they're present, but they're not there there. Song Ji Hyo realized that she felt like that when she was still with Lee Kwang Soo. He is there, she knows he is, but then it doesn't really feel like he is. Like he is somewhere, she just couldn't reach. Like he's looking at her, but he's not really seeing anything.

In the story of Lee Kwang Soo and Song Ji Hyo, only the best parts show. And she realizes, the most toxic part of a relationship, is letting past the warning signs for the sake of love.

She has been doing okay. Her life is filled with her, standing in her own two feet. She was talking to her brother the other day, he was sitting on the couch watching TV. She just came back home, her bones need resting. She lies on his lap, and somehow today is an easier day even though it is not. That is what she loved about her little brother, the burden of the day comes falling from her shoulders to her knees, and to the base of her foot, and finally to the floor. Whenever she is with family, or with the person she is closest, she lets everything hard about her life past.

"Sung Moon-ah.' She says slowly.

"What is it, noona?' He asked, he knows himself that she's had a long day.

'I miss him.' She spoke softly.

'I know.' He says. 'But get over it.' It might have sounded cruel, but no one would say it to her face other than him. Her mom would have completely avoided the subject of her husband completely. She didn't like Lee Kwang Soo, but if she heard Song Ji Hyo cry about her husband, she would start wonder about her marriage as well. And she doesn't really want to know that. Her friends do come by, and she does spend time with them. But when you're around someone who mopes around, with their minds adrift, who wouldn't be kind of offended in that point?

But Sung Moon is different. And she is his sister. If he's not there for her, who will? She'd do something stupid anyways.

Like go back to his stupid brother in-law.

'Dong Wook-hyung is back, noona.' He says. Maybe he could ease her pain. 'He called me the other day, he wants to meet you.'

'I don't want to meet him, Sung Moon-ah.'

'Why?'

'I feel sorry for him. And me, being sorry, shows very clearly on my face. You should see him, he likes hanging out with you.'

'I'm not you, Song Ji Hyo-ssi.'

Dong Wook is nice. And Song Ji Hyo doesn't really feel like she's nice. Like she's done something to someone, now some entity is making her pay for it. She left Lee Dong Wook for Lee Kwang Soo, and now she's paying for it. What if she just stopped trying to use her head? She knew what she did was wrong, but she did it for love. Right?

Right.

'You should meet him.'

'No.' She raised from his lap.

'Why?'

'Because I hurt him. And you can't run from that fact.'

'But you're hurting yourself because of it?'

'What do you mean?'

'Stop punishing yourself just because you think you deserve it.' He says, his words strong and mean. Even his voice was punishing. 'Stop running around at night, thinking that nobody cares about you just because hyung didn't treasure you. Don't punish yourself just because you left Dong Wook hyung for him. Don't put yourself down just because Lee Kwang Soo put himself on a pedestal. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop asking Lee Kwang Soo to pity you. He's not going to do that. If he did, he wouldn't have done it on the first place. It's been six months since you left him, have you died yet?'

He took a breath.

'You're earning now. You no longer need to push yourself down because you feel sad. You told him you've moved on, now prove it. Stop going back to someone that gave you you don't deserve. Yes, you married him. Of course. But would you live your life as someone ignorant or would you live your life being you?'

Slowly, Song Ji Hyo raised from the couch to her room.

There's a lot she needs to think about.

Chapter 111: I just finished reading this, but I can’t really decide if I liked it or not. I guess the events leading to the ending (after Chapter 95) was/is not my cup of tea, it kind of made me upset in a way since I love KwangMong, that’s why. But other than that, I loved your writing. KwangMong has been my ship, so thank you for this story :)

Chapter 5: Another great chapter.

I like how Kwang Soo is very caring towards Ji Hyo.
I also liked the way he stumbled when Ji Hyo asked the innocent question, "Did you sleep okay?" It was kinda endearing.

Although at the end of the chapter, I ended up feeling a little sorry for Ji Hyo. Yes, she was partly to blame for encouraging Kwang Soo to drink, but she had to be the one comforting him.

I kinda felt both characters cared deeply about the other. With Ji Hyo fixing him breakfast and then comforting him and with Kwang Soo apologising even though it was not entirely his fault for what happened the night before. And I like that you had him behave timidly. It feels like you are setting us up that he cares very deeply for her. If not he wouldn't be so afraid of shaking the status quo.

I'm so looking forward to find out what happens to them! I've upvoted and subscribed. You have yourself a fan!

Hey, I have to admit I was a silent reader to this and was pleasantly surprised when you updated and completed it! I just love your style of writing, it really captured my attention to the point where I binge read the first 50 chapters then realised that it was unhealthy hahaha.
It was such a roller coaster for both Ji Hyo and Kwang Soo, I had always thought that their relationship was moving so fast that it would hurtle of the tracks. It was such a bitter sweet open ending which leaves me hoping for something more. Overall the whole story was so realistic which I found captivating, it showed not only highs of a relationship but also the lows.
So thanks for sharing this. I can't wait for you next idea. I look forward to reading it.
