Pins & Needles
Downing Today, Drowning TomorrowAs soon as she steps outside of the door, her tears kept flowing continously. I can't feel my legs, she said to herself. This happens, she was never really sad, but sometimes like right now, she could feel it everywhere. She could feel it pulsating, almost vibrating inside of her. She's not really good with sadness, that's why she prefers to see better days than the worst of days.
The only think she could do is crouch on the floor, luckily the whole floor is empty. She began to cry uncontrollably. She couldn't remember the last time she was like this, a sadness she couldn't even explain. But she kept herself there, grounded. Up until the point someone's hand was on her back.
'Go away, Kwang Soo-ya.' She says, without even turning her head.
'You must be disappointed.' That voice startled her. She turned her head. Lee Jong Suk.
'Jong Suk-ah.' She says, she wipes her face with the edges of her sweater.
'You shouldn't be in the middle of the way, noona.' He says, crouching down with her.
'I want to drill myself a hole, so can you bury me inside?' She says, somehow laughing from her own words. Jong Suk merely smiled, she forgot about how nice he was.
'Sure, what ever you need, noona.' He says, whispering. 'But what I need you to do is stand up, noona.'
She nods, but he helps her up. While he was helping her, a pair of eyes were observing them. Jong Suk asked where she parked her car, she merely said, 'basement'. She handed him her car keys, and he drove her home when he used the GPS, it's presetted. Jong Suk took her home, and still, helped her into bed. He sat on the edge of her bed, she was still crying.
'Noona.' He says. 'You're crying about him, aren't you?' He says, somehow catching her offguard. But without even hesitating, she nodded. You look like a child sometimes noona, Jong Suk says to himself. He got himself closer to her. He wanted to reach her hair, he wanted to take care of her. But her heart is taken, it's not his to keep.
'Do you want to talk about it?' He says. 'I know you might not like me, but I do like you; and I'm willing to listen to you.'
She observes him. Like Kwang Soo, he does this for nothing. All of her time in this world, it was not hard to see if someone's trying to gain something for you and take care of you. But she merely shook her head. 'It's nothing, Jong Suk-ah.'
'You can tell me, noona. I may have my looks, but unfortunatety, I'm not usually the guy that gets all the girls.' He says.
'You liar.' She says, finally smiling.
'I'm not. Seriously. Nice guys finish last, right?' He says.
'That's not true.'
'If he's a nice guy, you wouldn't be crying. And if he's not last, he wouldn't be nice.' He says, somehow jokingly of course. Somehow instead of a prospect, she started to think of Jong Suk as a friend instead.
'Do you promise you're not going to laugh?' She asks.
'I promise.' He took out his pinky, and took hers. He's a kid in someways, as if he would never grow up. And Ji Hyo liked him that way.
She sighs. She got outside the covers and poured a glass of water from the jug next to her bed. She took short sips, until she could calm down. She cleared . 'I feel like, Kwang Soo's far away from me. Naturally, I'm not really insecure. But he had a photoshoot with Nana, I thought, wow, he would look best with someone like her. Someone that could match his height, someone that could look fitting standing next to him.'
Jong Suk frowned. 'Is this the age thing? Because I don't really get it, 'cause you're not really that far apart, age-wise anyways.'
'No, it's nothing about that - who cares about all that?' She sighs. 'I think, to me, in my eyes, Kwang Soo's shines brighter than anybody else. I think, that someday, I'm going to be the one that's dimming his light. The way I saw him today, I forgot how he really was. Even after hours of spending time with each other, I find myself fidgety when I'm not around him. But when I'm around him, I'm drowning until I forget that I'm suffocating. Somehow, the warmth feels so comfortable that if I lose it, I'll be scared.' She says.
'Noona.' He calls her.
She rose her eyebrows.
'You're falling for him deeper than you intended.'
