Secretly Yours Part 1

The bride and the groom stood atop the altar; their eyes staring to each other and held each other’s hands. The bride wore a vintage white wedding gown designed by renowned designer Giorgio Armani and the groom wore a matching tuxedo in black. The guests wore gleeful smiles across their lips; the bride and the groom’s friends and families as they watch the stunning couple stare deeply into each other’s eyes.

Amongst the guests, there are business partners and soon-to-be business partners. The marriage is simply to mark a new beginning and to strengthen the relationship between the two companies.

Needless to say, the bride and the groom had no say in the marriage whatsoever. However, it didn’t mean that the groom had no feelings for the bride. In fact, he’s been infatuated with the bride ever since their first meeting two years ago. Although he wasn’t given the chance to date the bride due to her refusals to his invitations and busy schedule with work, his feelings for her did not falter.

He was extremely happy when their families decided to have the two wed but, it saddened him how the bride-to-be was being forced to marry someone she did not love. He somewhat felt that she already had someone whom she loved very much but decided not pursue the matter any farther as it might change their parents decisions. Besides, who would refuse such an opportunity to marry the person you love? He wasn’t that certain someone and he would still marry her even if she didn’t return his love. He would eventually try his hard to have her fall for him.

“Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, for richer or poorer, in sickness in health, as long as you both shall live?”

The priest asked of him. He smiled genuinely at the bride before giving the priest his answer.

“I do.”

She tried her best to smile back but she found it hard to. Her usual smiles were so easy to bring forward but ever since her parents announced she was to wed the gentleman in front of her, she found it hard to do anything anymore. Talking, laughing, smiling, eating, sleeping, everything. She found the easiest tasks a human can possibly do so hard to accomplish.

There was a time where she did find smiling so easy to show. Where it didn’t take a lot of effort just to show her bright wide smile to someone. That someone and that certain time was with her loved one. She wishes she could be with that someone; be standing at this altar with that someone. But it seemed like faith had another plan for the both of them as they both parted from each other.

It broke the bride’s heart to watch her loved one walk away from her. To walk away from all the promises they made to each other. But if she had one wish to have granted before she utters the two words her father is forcing her to say to the groom, it would be to see her loved one again. To have each other’s eyes gaze at each other and if she really wants to gets her hopes up, have her loved say how it was a mistake to walk away from her. That would be enough to have her show an honest, happy smile.

“Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, for richer…”

The priest’s words fade out in her ears as her eyes slowly searches the hundreds of guests for a certain someone.

“…as you both shall live?”
