Taeyeon sat under the shade of the tree, the sun shining over her, peaking through the green leaves. She watched how the breeze blew across the grass, making it look like a vast ocean, as the raven birds soared across the blue sky. The view was simply relaxing and beautiful. A small smile lay on her lips unconsciously. It had been a day since the graduation from SM academy, and soon, if not any sooner, herself, Jessica, Yuri, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Seohyun, Yoona, and Tiffany, would become SNSD. Together. Her thoughts lingered on one particular person.

Tiffany.

The love of her life, but secretly, only among herself. She never told anyone, not even Tiffany. She wasn't ashamed of her feelings, just afraid. Of how Tiffany would react. She wasn't ready for rejection, or utter heartbreak. It would tear her world into shreds. If she could have Tiffany, just as her best friend, then that would be just fine. But she couldn't lie to her heart that she wanted more than that. She wanted Tiffany to love her back, she wanted to be the one to protect her, the one she would always turn to, and the one she wanted to be with forever.

But the chances of that in her mind were one in a million or more. Tiffany deserved someone better than her. Taeyeon was smart, good looking, humorous, and caring, you think she has everything, but in her mind there's always something better. Besides, a girl liking a girl isn't exactly a normal thing around this country of South Korea. A guy should protect her, someone much stronger than she was. Bring her the joy of having a family, but she was getting to ahead of herself. Thinking too much into the future. Taeyeon shook her head and sighed, returning her gaze to the scene in front of her. But something had changed about it, a person had been included. There she was, Tiffany, standing on her left, leaning against the very same tree.

"Tiffany."

"Taeyeon."

The sight of Tiffany took her breath away. The way the breeze just caressed her soft skin, her silky brown hair framing her beautiful face, her pink lips forming a small smile, and those eyes... those cute brown eyes staring at her, like it was piercing her soul. Taeyeon stared at her carefully, like the curiosity of a cat. A pink purse slung from Tiffany's shoulder, car keys swinging from her index finger, and suitcases lying beside her. Taeyeon immediately became alarmed.

She frowned. "Where are you going?"

The small smile that she once had, disappeared into a somewhat blank expression. Almost sad.

"Home." She answered simply.

'But her home, is here with me.' Taeyeon thought. Well that's what she wanted to think at least. She shook the thought from her mind, there's got to be a reason.

"Visiting your family?" Taeyeon asked.

"Yup." Tiffany said.

A wave a relief came over her. Happy that she wouldn't be gone for too long. She should offer to accompany her on the trip? Taeyeon didn't know how long she could last without her mushroom around her.

"So when are you coming back?" Taeyeon asked.

"I won't be coming back.." Tiffany said slowly.

Taeyeon literally choked on her own breath, and her shocked expression must have been pretty obvious, because she blushed and looked down at her feet.

"I've been thinking TaeTae?"

Taeyeon loved the way her nickname rolled off Tiffany's lips. No one could make her feel the way she did, every time Tiffany called her name. It was like some kind of medicine that made her feel like she was on top of the world.

"I want to stay back in the states, and help my dad. Since mom isn't around anymore, he might be struggling with his business, and the rest of the other kids."

"Such a caring daughter." Taeyeon thought aloud. She clutched her heart, a bit surprised on just how much it was slowly tearing apart inside her very being.

"Are you okay Taeyeon-ah?" Tiffany asked.

"Oh yeah, yeah I'm okay." Taeyeon stuttered. "It's just that, you're leaving so soon?"

"I got a lot of work to do, if I want to help my dad. I'm not cut out for SM, so I don't think I should waste my time here." She explained.

Was that what it was? Was this time here a waste? Was she just a waste? Did all these years of friendship mean nothing to her? Taeyeon's already torn heart sank to the ground.

"Take care Taeyeon-ah. I hope that you'll become really successful in the future." Tiffany smiled that eye smile she always loved. She kneeled down to Taeyeon and hugged her. Taeyeon didn't move, because if she hugged her back, she probably wouldn't be able to let go of her.

All too soon, Tiffany pulled away, and her heel to leave, picking up her suitcase, and heading off. Taeyeon couldn't lose her, it wasn't an option, and she knew it wasn't what she wanted.

"Tiffany!" she called after her, hand outstretched.

She paused in mid-stride, looking over her shoulder, in what strangely looked like regret.

"You know TaeTae, for someone as smart as yourself, you can be very blind...You can't see it when someone gives their heart to you." she said almost inaudibly. "If only you were smarter than that."

Tiffany began to walk again, her figure slowly becoming smaller. Taeyeon gaped at her in mute shock.

'Did, did she just say?' she thought confused.

She kept replaying the words in her head, trying to process what she meant, even though it was so simple. When it sank in, she immediately panicked, jumping from her spot, stumbling after the girl.
