“I know I don’t say this enough but thank you. I actually can’t thank you enough.” Kai said as he in came and sat down. “You know you don’t have to thank me for it. I did i—“ I was answering when I got cut off by Lay. “As a call of duty.” Lay finished for me as Luhan elbowed his ribs. “Ignore what he said. We’ll leave you both to talk but before that Kai the doctor needs to see you.” Suho ordered.

“I’m fine. I’ll go in as soon as we’re done. No harm done to me hyung.” Kai made up excuses. “I won’t talk to you till you’re checked. Now go and come back. Palli!” I said, tilting my head to the door. He nodded and left not before patting Tao, who I just noticed was sniffling in the corner. “Are you okay?” I asked him. “Yeah yeah.. these are just happy tears I swear.”  he smiled. I rolled my eyes at how dramatic he was being.

“Okay now that things are under control, we’ll go back and get some rest. We’ll come back and visit later in the evening.” Kris said, rounding up the members. “Lay?” I called him as he was about to leave. He came and stood close to the bed. “I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow but I know I would have personally looked for Kai till I had found him in case they gave up. Please remember that I would never give up on him until it was for his own good.” I said to him.

 He just nodded and turned to leave before he paused at the door his back still facing me. “It’s good to have you back. I was waiting for you to stand up for what you feel. Thank you for reassuring me. Get some rest.” I could hear the smile on his face, which caused me to smile. A knock interrupted the silence just seconds later. “Hey leader! Thank you for getting him back..” I said sincerely.

“I hear what you said, the ‘not giving up on Kai’ part. I hope you know what you are getting into. Just remember you’re only eighteen and there is plenty more of fish the sea where you come from.” he explained. I swallowed to calm myself down before I spoke. “Eric I really respect you but I’d prefer if you didn’t step into my personal matters. I know what I am already and I’m well aware of what I’m going to have to do next.” I said, looking out of the window.

“How’s Mike?” I asked him. “His femur was broken into pieces. They nailed a plate to fix it.” he informed me, sighing quietly. “So he can’t continue isn’t it?” I asked, my happiness disappearing all of a sudden. “Special agents have to be fit.” he repeated what I had heard countless times. “What’s surprising is he’s glad!” he added quickly. “Really?!” I asked in disbelief. “I had the same reaction. He’s apparently sick and tired of all the sneaking around and the bloodbath. He wants to settle down now that he has the perfect excuse.” he chuckled.

“Wow. I never thought I’d see him saying all of this. He seemed like a tough one to crack isn’t it?” I said in wonder, still surprised. “This was enough to shake everyone up. The Director has resigned; they have someone new replacing him. Everything’s going to change for us.” he shrugged. “I see you’re feeling much better.” MH stated, coming in with Kai in tow. “Will he be okay?” I asked, pointing at Kai.

“Funny how he asked me the same about you.” he said, raising a brow. “He’s going to be fine just some scratches and bruises. Unfortunately I can’t say the same about you. Another week and half or two before you get to leave.” he said, checking my vitals. “I’m not staying here more than three days.” I hissed. “You are giving me three days? Voluntarily?” he asked again to make sure. “It’s only because this is the worst I’ve had.” I reasoned.

“What did you do to her?” he turned to Kai, completely ignoring me. Kai who was completely lost on the joke, just shrugged. “I’ll be back later, get some rest. Also don’t eat yet, we’ll need to do some scans later.” he said and left, closing the door with a soft click. “Care to explain what he meant?” Kai asked skeptically. “I might have a history of trying to run from hospitals or throwing tantrums if I’m not discharged in a few hours.” I told him, not looking him in the eye.

“I still can’t believe you’re a part of the CIA. To imagine the number of times you’ve been in danger and the number of times you’ve been in a hospital. It’s beyond me...” he said, struggling to find the right words. “I’m here now, isn’t that all that matters? Without it I would never have met you so let’s just be thankful okay?” I comforted him, rubbing his arm. He seemed traumatized after the whole deal.

“Kai, what happened to you?” I asked him. “When I woke up there was no one around and then I pushed all the stones and stuff away. As I got out of the house though, there were these men who spotted me. They came after me and I ran back to the same corner. It was the wrong thing to do and they started roughing me up before I picked up a piece of rubble and hit one of the head. The other two were pretty shocked so I ran out. They chased me for quite some time before I managed to hide in a hedge.

 I really don’t know long I hid for but then I realized I had lost that thing I was supposed to keep. Since I didn’t know if they would be there I waited the night and then at dawn made my way to the house to find that thing.  Fortunately, Eric found me there.”  he narrated the events of the night. “I was worried sick when they wouldn’t tell me anything when I woke up. I’m glad they found you.” I smiled.

“I was glad to see you alive too. I thought I’d never see you again.” he said quietly. “Kai, you should get something to eat and then rest. I’ll tell MH to call a taxi for you. Shower before you come back.” I told him. “I’m not leaving you alone. You don’t like hospitals.” he replied. “I’m used to it. It’s completely normal.” I pushed him. “Then there would be no difference between then and now and that’s impossible. I’m not going anywhere and if you argue you’re going to remain in this room for the next two weeks.” he threatened.

“Are you threatening me? I could shoot you.” I growled. “Yeah and then kill yourself later because you love me so much? I don’t think so. I’m going to sleep on the couch.” he said and walked to the small couch in the corner of the room. I sulked in the bed watching him trying to get comfortable. No matter how he tried, his legs dangled outside uncomfortably. “Come here, we’ll share the bed.” I finally gave in, seeing how difficult it was for him.

“Will you be okay with that?” he asked. “Yes now come on, I’m tired.” I asserted and made space for him. He got under the covers and sighed in content. “I told you should go back and sleep.” I nagged. “I told you I’m staying. Now stop jabbering and let me sleep. I hid in a hedge the whole night.” he mocked. I settled down and pulled the covers up.

“You’ll be here when I wake up right?” he whispered softly, after a while. “I’ll be right here.” I reassured him. “Good. Sleep well..” he muttered as he nuzzled into the crook of my neck . 

A\N: Somehow as it gets closer to the end, it become for difficult to write. It's almost like my brain doesn't want to let the story finish..  

Anhow Lay wasn't a mean to Mia because he actually doubted her.  He was just testing her. Now what?
