Third Person POV

“We don’t even know if what they had was real okay? She’s a CIA agent who was to protect him. They're trained to deceive.” Lay reasoned. “The first thing she did was ask for Kai when she got up. What does that prove to you?” Kris reasoned, cornering Lay.  “That she’s afraid she failed her mission?” Lay asked, not backing down.

“Stop it gege. Let’s not focus on that. Kai hasn’t been found yet. Who knows where he is and how he is…” Tao trailed off, not want to acknowledge that it was possible Kai was no more. At that everyone calmed down and silently trudged back to their seats. “Do you think..” D.O. stopped, unable to continue. Yet, he had to know. He had to confirm that he was not the only one who believes in his best friend.

 “I know so..” Baekhyun finished, turning away from his anguished face. The members were all silent, the daunting tragedy hanging upon their heads, silently choking.  “Can I talk to Suho and Kris please? I’m Special Agent Eric; I was the mission leader.” Eric said, walking upto them. “Any news about Kai?” Suho asked his voice unstable.

“I’m here to actually ask for your help. If Kai was to hide somewhere where do you think he would go?” Eric asked.“Somewhere with less people..” Suho answered. “Someone’s house I think..” Kris said when Eric turned to him. “Since we haven’t found a body, we’re still hoping he’s somewhere out there hiding. We’re trying out best.” Eric informed them and then turned to leave.

“Thank God we had Mia and not him.” Xiumin said as he came to stand beside the two leaders. “I hope they find him before she wakes up again. I don’t know what she’s going to do if we don’t answer her anymore..” Suho trailed off, staring at the ground. “I hope she gets better soon, as those bruises and wounds that she has all over.. Must be so painful..” Kris said, pinching the bridge of his nose. 

Eric POV

‘Somewhere with less people and someone’s house… I’ll ask for a check of the nearby houses. This would be so much simpler if he had not lost the damn tracker. The tracker is still in the ruined house.’ I thought to myself as I left the hospital. The task force was waiting for me at the Base. I circulated photos of Kai and divided them in small groups of three.

“Right now, I’m not talking to you as your commanding officer. I’m asking you as a friend to please help another friend. You see she’s in love with that guy in the picture. She’s alive but I don’t know what she’s going to do if we don’t find him. Please, all I’m asking you is to do your best to find him. Last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. Report in at every hour. Thank you.” I told them.

For the first time for the time that I was an agent I wanted them to succeed not because I was the leader on the mission. I wanted them to succeed for Mia, for EXO, for his fans and for once I wanted the good to win over evil with no penalties. ‘Except Mike.’ I reminded myself. Mike had suffered a femoral shaft fracture which was a fracture of the thighbone for which he was currently on going surgery.

 I left the Base and headed to the particular stretch of the highway. Hours passed by and there were no signs of Kai. By now it was already past dawn. “Alright guys, get some rest everyone. We’ll regroup in another ten hours and keep looking.” I told them. ‘He couldn’t really be dead isn’t it?’ I asked myself as I walked to the ruined house again to find some trace.

I didn’t really want to believe it but I that was what it really seemed like. I could carry on the search but for how much longer? As soon as the Mike and Mia were in a condition fit to fly, we’ll be leaving to go back home. As I entered the house there was someone looking through the rubble. “CIA! Put your hands up where I can see them.” I said, immediately pulling out my gun.

“How do I believe you’re the CIA? You could be the enemy!” Kai said turning around. “Oh God, you’re alive. You’re really alive.” I cried out in disbelief and then rushed forward to hug him. “Prove you’re the CIA.” he said, pushing me away. “I’m Eric leader of mission. I call Mia to tell her Ryan betrayed us and she threw your cellphones away and headed towards this highway. She also told you EXO was safe because I would take care of them.”  I said.

“Is…she okay?” he asked, his voice suddenly holding so much emotion. “She’s at the hospital, got beaten up pretty bad. She’ll be fine now though, when she sees you.” I chuckled. “Let’s go give her a surprise, shall we? Also, what you did earlier? I got to say Mia’s company has done you good.” I laughed, causing him to follow. I felt much lighter knowing Kai was perfectly well except for some bruises.

Mia POV

I woke up to darkness. I turned by head towards the window to see the night sky. “You’re still out there isn’t it?” I whispered as I felt a tear roll down. ‘This was the one mission where you were supposed to save and not kill; you failed so terribly. I guess you really are meant to be a killer. You could never save somebody, you were never meant to be a Guardian.

If there was someone else in place of you; a proper Guardian, he would be alive right now. He would be at the dorm still sleeping soundly. It’s your fault.’ I heard a voice say.  “Stop it. Stop it! He’s fine.” I yelled. “Dongy..!” Chanyeol rushed in alarmed. “Go away.” I hissed. “Mia I need to calm down. You’re going to hurt yourself..” I heard MH say from the door as he came in.

“I said leave me alone.” I yelled, pushing the glass tumbler full of water down in a fit of rage. “If you need something we’re outside..” Chen muttered as they were leaving together with MH. “I need Kai. Get him if you can..” I snided. “We would if we could; he’s family. You’re not the only one hurting yet we aren’t throwing fits like you. Grow up.” Lay spat at me and slammed the door shut.

I could hear the others scolding him but I knew he was right. Guilt prickled my conscience as I realized what they must feel too. I watched the night turn into dawn; a new day. Yet I had nothing to longing and pain to fill the new day with. How much things could change in a day! From worrying about how he was going to tackle a photoshoot to if he was even alive to witness the dawn.

I don’t know how much time had passed while I kept looking at the sky till the sound of the door opening pulled me out of my reverie. “Leave me alone.” I hissed, not wanting to see or talk to anyone. “I thought you’d want to see me.” a familiar voice said. I turned my head so fast that it hurt.

“They found you. You’re alive. You’re really here.” I breathed, relief clouding my tone. “I am.” he whispered, his voice cracking. That’s all it took for me to believe everything was alright. After all, my Princess was back. 

A\N: I felt really emotional while writing this chapter for some reason.. It's almost over..
