KAI POV

I turned to Mia as she stopped the car suddenly. “Don’t get out of this car no matter what.” she warned as she quickly looked through her backpack. “Put this in your shoe. It shouldn’t fallout.” she said and handed me what looked a mini pendrive. I quickly followed her instructions and noticed she placed a similar looking device in her shoes. “Just incase I’m injured, escape. Don’t worry about where just hide. The good people will find you. Trust me on this okay?” she said, utterly serious.

That moment I felt like I didn’t know who she was, which is when I realized I actually didn’t know who she was. “What about you?” I asked her. I knew she was trained for these kind of situations but even agents can be injured. “Don’t worry about me. Your safety first.” she smiled as she was opened the door and steeped out. “Then I think I’m to come with you too.” I said stepping out. “You promised that you would listen to me.” she said, eyes pleading.

“That was different. I can’t let you do this alone.” I honestly replied. “I’m a CIA agent.” she emphasized on that fact. “Go in now and don’t you dare come out.” she said menacingly. I nodded and turned back hoping she would walk forward which she did. I waited for a minute before following her to see Ryan standing some distance away with three other men by his side. “Tch. Look what the cat dragged in.” he said, nodding at me.

Mia turned around to look at me, her expression blank. If she was shocked or angry she didn’t show it one bit. “You both are such a cute love story, the Guardian fell in love with the victim. However, my favorite lovestory is Romeo and Juliet. The epic saga of the tragic death of young lovers. Touching, isn’t it?” he mocked. “What do you even see in him Mia? A smart girl like you got to have some standards.” he remarked.

“Come to the dark side, it’s so much more wild and fun. They’ll treat you like a Princess because of your skill. “ he offered. “Ryan I thought you were intelligent but now I think we’re even. You managed to fool me into believing that Mike was the one and I managed to fool you into believing I love him.” she smirked, jabbing a thumb in my direction. “I sent you message saying I wanted in today morning. I guess you were busy with that coward running away isn’t it?” she shrugged.

I was shattered at the thought. Even when I had come to know who she actually was I never thought her feelings were fake. I must applaud her for being such a good actress. She had me fooled and  I had fallen in love with her. My face probably reflected what I felt because I heard all of them laugh. “You would have fooled anyone Mia. Now come on let’s get done with him here. Pretty boy any last wishes?” he asked.

“Could I give him a good bye kiss? I feel a little guilty for using him.” she giggled. “Do you really have to? I’m not into public displays of affection.” Ryan groaned. “Just on the cheek then.” she winked at him and turned towards me. “Run.” she whispered as her soft lips touched my cheek. Just then everything in the world made sense. She did have a plan and she would make sure we’re safe because she really does love me.

I felt my heart soar and I somehow managed to keep a smile off my face. “We’re partners in crime now.” she laughed as she ran towards Ryan and engulfed him in a hug. In a blink of an eye I heard two shots and Ryan was down. She had used his own gun to shoot him. She pulled out another gun and shot two other men before the third one attacked her. She ducked his attack and twisted herself to kick his knees so that he fell forward.

Another two shots and the coast were clear. "He had it coming. This vengance is mine." she scoffed. A part of me was in awe of how she managed to turn tables and another part of me was disgusted with the bloodshed.  Without hesitation, she took my hand and pulled me along with her. We ran along the same road to enter a rundown house. She kept looking behind to keep a check on people following us.

“Look there isn’t much time. We have people following us. Stay here and don’t get up atleast for a day. That’s the only way for you to be safe. The tracker on you will lead the CIA team to you when it’s the right time. You’ll be safe if you go hide now. Go.” she panted, pushing me. “No! I won’t do this. We’ll hide together. They’ll kill you if they get you. Don’t do this.” I begged. I knew how dangerous those men were and she was all alone.

No matter how good she was, she wouldn’t be able to take them on. “Don’t be so difficult Kai. I love you too much to not do this. I’m sorry.” she said softly and wrapped her hands around me. “Everything we had was true. Don’t ever think otherwise.” she said, a few stray tears escaping her eyes. Before I could say anything, I felt pressure on my neck and unwillingly blackness engulfed me.
