I entered the hospital and headed to the ICU that Kai was in. Surprisingly, there were no EXO members around. Ignoring that I entered the room and saw Kai  just lying there with his head bandage. “Kai, you’re okay right? Come on get up now.” I said. “If you get up now I’ll tell you a very nice story. Come on Princess.“ I yelled. He never moved a muscle. By then I had started to believe Baekhyun was right, even though most of me hoped against it. I took a deep breath and swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat and closed my eyes to gather myself.

A few seconds later my phone rang, the caller ID showing it was Gina. “I have the number traced. The number is a private number bought by an anonymous source in New York. No prizes for guessing it’s the CIA and is presently being used by someone who goes by the alias Mike. I’m guessing it’s a fellow agent. I don’t know why you had to track a fellow agent’s number but be careful. Call me if you anymore information.” she got straight to the point. “Alright thanks.” I told her and hung up.

‘The calf bullet injury was never a mistake, I actually shot him. He shot Ryan four times. He reduced Kai to this state.’ I realized. Tears finally started to drip down my face. Tears of grief that the betrayal brought, tears at the thought of Kai never waking up. “You promised me we’ll get through things together. You promised me you’ll be there. You’re nothing but a liar. Look at you; you’re away somewhere when I need you the most. Get up and show me you care. Why won’t you get up?” I cried, shaking his shoulders.

‘The planted emails containing videos, the attack on Nu’est and Ryan, the infiltration of security during EXO’s show, the fans getting inside during award show, the kidnaps.. Everything was a set-up. Everything. He would have easy access to since me was one of the five.’ I blanched at that thought. I had the sudden urge to throw up inspite of skipping lunch. “I’m here to make an hourly checkup.” a nurse declared as she came in. She quickly noted down his vital stats. “Do you think he’ll get up?” I asked her.

 “I’m sorry but generally most cases like this don’t end happily. Infact even if they do gain consciousness, they rarely are able to function normally.” she answered, her voice full of sympathy. She left before I could ask her anything more. My chest tightened to the point where even breathing was difficult. Somehow out of nowhere a humorless laugh bubbled through my throat just as fresh, warm tear made their way down. “You know what I realized Kai? You’ll be really flattered to her it. I absolutely hated your guts the day I met you and continued till that night when you told he the reason behind it.

That was the day I could connect to you because at the end of the day we were just two very lonely people. That night when Ryan was hit? I thought that was single most horrible day even though I learnt to trust you. I realize I was wrong now. That day is today without a doubt. You want to know why? It’s because I realize that for the first time in my life I actually feel something for someone. He’s devilishly handsome even though he’s a dork sometimes, he dances amazing well but the only problem is he’s in a coma.” I said my voice cracking.

By now I was hysteric; this whole situation was reminding me of the situation with Ryan.  I put my head close to his shoulder. “I like you Kai. The sad part is I realized it just now. The sadder part is I can’t like you. The saddest part is you’re here because of me. It’s entirely my fault. It always is.” I finished in a whisper. I had no strength to keep my head up anymore so I just lay down.  I just wanted to get up and realize this was a nightmare. I didn’t want to face the world till I felt warm hands embrace my torso. “I’m a man of my word. I’ll be there always like I had promised.” someone said in a low whisper, chuckling slightly.
