Jinhwan was practicing, as always. His eyes landed on the watch just to see it was past midnight and with a smile over his lips, he ran towards the bench where he had previously set his phone and bag in ''I'll be going now.'' he announced to his friends who nodded their heads to the male and showed off slight smiles as they still had a lot to practice. Jinhwan couldn't wait to get to his girlfriend's house. He wanted to surprise her for her birthday and as he had once told her, the days they spent together, started and ended at 00:00 AM. This only meant he had a lot planned for her.
The male was careful enough to talk to her mother, asking her if she didn't mind if her daughter spent the day with her boyfriend instead of spending it with her mother since it has been a while since he celebrated her birthday with her because of his busy schedule. Her mother didn't really seem to be bothered by the request, therefore, the male felt much more relieved, knowing he had enough time to spend with the female. He couldn't keep a smile off his lips as he headed to his dorm. He took less time to get there than usual, by walking. He showered and quickly got the cake he had bought, out of the fridge.
''I'm going, hold on...'' the female groaned as she heard her bell ring; just who the hell came at 00:30 AM? Only crazy people. Yoojin shook her head slowly as she came open the door - she was half asleep due to the tiring day she had before her birthday. Her boss gave her a hard time since she asked him for a day off in her birthday in order to spend it with her friends and family, just to have that cancelled last minute. However, there was no way she was going to cancell the day off. She was just too tired of her boss and the environment.
Her eyes took a quick peek at the mirror that she had by the door, nodding her head firmly as she noticed she had appropriate clothes to come to the door, nothing too revealing. She was never sure of who could be on the other side. Yoojin opened the door and blinked a few times as she saw nobody. She found this strange - was she going crazy or something? She wasn't sure but this was creeping her out. Her eyes landed on something that was on the floor. She peeked outside again just to find nothing but air surrounding her. Afraid, the female leaned down and picked up a small white paper that seemed to have a few drawings or whatever on it.
Her eyes read the lines, only to understand it was a clock. A digital clock that kind of looked like the one she had right over her bedside table. It was getting creepier but the phrase that was written under the drawing gave away who was the person that rang the bell - Jinhwan. ''The day starts and ends at 00:00 AM.'' she laughed and shook her head slightly, wondering where her boyfriend was since she wasn't finding him outside.
Just when she was about to close the door, she heard some kind of voice, coming from the outside. She closed the door and made her way across the room, gasping at how she knew someone who looked similar to that short heighted man standing outside, staring at her balcony. She bit her lip when he suddenly started singing for her; she quickly scolded him ''Kim Jinhwan!'' but the male ingored her, chuckling as he sang out his love for her. Her cheeks grew red as she looked around, hoping her neighbours wouldn't go crazy over something like this. She felt embarrassed but at the same time, she was enjoying this small show he had put up for her - it was nice, she felt appreciated because who wouldn't when the male was doing his best, telling her just how much he loved her and ingoring the fact people could actually sue him for making noise so late at night.
After some long five minutes, her heartbeat was quicker than she ever imagined it could be - her boyfriend had asked her to come open the door for him and as soon as her eyes landed on him, so close to him and so nicely treated, she hugged him tightly - good thing he decided to put down the cake or it would be squished in between their bodies. The female chuckled softly as her grip tightened around him, hugging her boyfriend to her to thank her for such nice surprise. When he pulled away, he pecked her lips and whispered to her after picking up the cake ''Happy birthday.'' Yoojin's eyes landed on the clock; it read 00:45; she turned to her boyfriend, pointing her index finger accusingly at him as he closed the door behind him ''You're late'' he only chuckled, nodding his head before walking towards the kitchen, wrapping his arm around her waist in process.
They sat down - Jinhwan insisted she sat on his lap, so they could be close as they didn't spend that long together and every second counted as another cent to add to the huge hole that parted them most of the time - his work and her work as well. Either way, this made up for all those cents they had to pay in order not to have a huge debt. Her body rest against his own as the male smiled softly, wrapping his arms around her waist while both watched the candles and the fire, getting along quite well. He was the fire and she was the candle that for some reason even after melting kept the fire still. That's how nicelly they worked out in between them. His lips were against her ear, whispering the lyrics of the so well known birthday song that just because of this meant so much more for her in that moment; Yoojin smiled - it was hard to keep a foolish grin off her lips as the scene itself looked nice for her, for her and for everyone who actually took a look at this couple, looking so nice and young.
By the time they started cutting the cake, the male had already some icing on the female's nose, defending himself by saying it was like a tradiction - it had to be done - and she didn't complain as she usually saw people get cake all over their faces whenever there was a birthday and this was much nicer. But they soon forgot about the cake and the present he had still to get to her as his lips landed on hers, initiating a soft kiss where her smile spread across the male's lips.
Her hands cupped his cheeks as their lips moved gently against one another - this was nice and she couldn't ask for anything else; it was nice and everything she ever wanted to have for her birthday. She didn't care about the presents, she didn't care about his status, much less about the money he earned. She just wanted him with her like this, uninterrupted. His arms still circled her waist and the male only pulled away to breathe, opening his eyes just to see the female so close to him like he always wished to have her. He chuckled and pressed his lips against her forehead, claiming her to be his yet again. ''I love you.'' ''Love you too. Thanks for stopping by.'' she chuckled, hugging him tightly to her just to hear him laughing ''I came to spend the day with you, though...'' he whispered, watching the female pull back and widen her eyes - he meant it when he said the day ended and started at the same hour, in different days. She smiled softly ''Surprise.'' he whinked at her, making her laugh and hit his chest before he pecked her lips again and eventually used that as an excuse to bring their lips together again into the nice kiss they shared just a few moments ago.
