‘’I think I may be pregnant.’’ she whispered through the phone, wanting to inform her best friend about what she just found out. The female had taken a pregnancy test as she had suspected that the changes in her body were just all pointing toward this direction. It felt weird to get those words off her lips like that but at the same time, it was comforting as her heart actually felt warm over those simple words. They were just mere words but they carried the meaning of the baby growing inside her. She smiled, looking down at her stomach that still didn’t quite show her baby.

The news were quite enjoyed by the male who was just very happy about them. He was going to have a child to look after, someone he could spoil and care for since, in the end, that’s all that matters anyways. Hanbin didn’t seem to be against it, the slightest. In fact, he just loved the idea to the point he’d leave his phone on the whole day and even wait for her to call him if anything, that was, if he didn’t call her first just to check up on them. It was the best news she could ever give him anyways.

This happiness lasted for a while, being the reason why Hanbin paid just so much attention to his girlfriend. ‘’Alright, you sure you two will be fine?’’ he asked, peeking over at the female who nodded slowly. He was going to be away from them for quite a while due to a tour. It was his job’s fault and he couldn’t just quit on it, especially now. Besides, it was his dream so quitting was just not an option. The female that carried the baby, nodded her head slowly, smiling at the male before sighing at the sudden thought of the empty bed she’d wake up to. The baby was almost there but she didn’t want him to blame it on her for being just way too whiny about the baby and so on.

‘’So, he still didn’t ask you?’’ the female looked down, hiding away the fact she felt bad about this question. ‘’I’m not sure it is one of his goals, to get married.’’ ‘’You two are going to have a kid…’’ her best friend pointed out, making the female look down at her body; her belly had grown quite a lot and that wasn’t something she was surprised for, the due date was close by and she was honestly glad the baby was growing well. ‘’Hyojin, you should talk to him..’’ but Hyojin knew it was just not what Hanbin thought anyways. She gave off a soft smile and nodded, as if telling her best friend she’d think about it.

Hyojin sat down on the bed she shared with Hanbin, letting out a quiet sigh - he was still away because of the tour. She peeked at the mirror that was somewhere by the door, staring at her figure that had gotten bigger the past eight months. She was happy. However, the thoughts of her best friend’s words made the female frown and shake her head slowly; at some point, she was right, having kids while just being his girlfriend would probably give out how much she meant to him. Call it hormones or whatever; she started crying over those thoughts that probably were hitting her harder now that she was alone.

Time ticked by too quickly. She woke up to a new day, just to stare at herself in the mirror with her eyes all red and puffy from the night before, making her wonder if she built the idea of happy Hanbin in her mind or if he was actually happy with all of this; either way, the fact the kid was probably more important for him didn’t change her mind. It was done anyways, they couldn’t turn back time.

‘’How are you two feeling today? I’m sorry that I called so early in the morning but I’m going to be very busy today and I didn’t want you to think I forgot about you guys…’’ it was almost obvious he was sleepy and he was smiling by the tone on his voice. That made the female smile a bit but she didn’t answer ‘’Is everything okay?’’ he asked, once again, trying to get her to speak but she only let out a quiet laugh that lasted less than he actually could ever predict. It wasn’t like her, at all. ‘’Did something happen?’’

‘’Hanbin, what do I mean to you?’’ she asked quietly, staring blankly at the floor as she waited for his answer. The male, on the other line, frowned at the question ‘’Is this your hormones again? You know what you mean to me…’’ this was just not the answer she was looking for ‘’I have to go, I need to feed your son.’’ Hyojin hung up the call, biting her lip as she shook her head slowly. She knew she started crying in that right moment as he confirmed her thoughts - the kid was what brought them together, if it wasn’t for him, they probably weren’t together. Hyojin stood up and left her phone behind, doing as she promised; she walked towards the kitchen to cook breakfast for the baby who was still developing inside her.

‘’Are you feeling better today? What happened yesterday?’’ Hanbin sensed something was wrong with her; he couldn’t stop worrying about her throughout the day but he was too busy to manage to get the time to talk to her in the phone. He wanted to make sure she was okay but his work didn’t allow him to. Hyojin was awfully quiet, once again. Hanbin frowned ‘’Hyojin, is there anything you have to tell me? Why are you acting like this? Is everything okay with the baby?’’ there he was again, talking about the baby. The female let out a quiet chuckle, trying to push him towards a different path of thoughts in which he thought she was actually okay and happy with the situation. He was confused.

‘’The baby is just fine.’’ she answered him, trying to sound as cheerful as possible through the problem she was facing. ‘’He keeps kicking a lot.’’ she continued, knowing Hanbin wanted to hear about the baby rather than how she was doing - could she blame him for that? ‘’He has been doing fine lately, but moving a lot.’’ she concluded, knowing she didn’t have a lot to say since he called everyday and asked her the same questions.

A sigh of relief was heard from the other line - he was satisfied with the information. ‘’I’m glad to know he’s doing well…’’ by the way he whispered to the phone, Hyojin could picture his smile that just hit her harder, leading her eyes to tears. They were opposites in that moment and even though she didn’t want to affect the baby, she couldn’t help but feel this way, not after her best friend rubbing the facts in her face. ‘’Hanbin, I have to go.’’ her trembling voice warned before the male heard the annoying beeps announcing the call came to an end. He frowned at this.

‘’How’s Hyojin?’’ Jinhwan sat down by Hanbin who was staring at his phone. The male shrugged his shoulders almost like he didn’t care about the question he was asked. Jinhwan raised an eyebrow, finding this weird. ‘’Did something happen between the two of you?’’ he continued, tilting his head slightly to the side as he waited for Hanbin to answer him. However, the younger shrugged again, worrying the elder.

Jinhwan was about to speak when Hanbin cut him ‘’She has been acting really weird, it’s almost like she’s hiding something from me. I wonder if she’s cheating on me or something. She seems like she’s really busy every time we talk. We don’t talk for long anyways. And I’m the only one talking. Did she fall out of love? I don’t know, things got really weird this past month.’’ he let things off his chest, making Jinhwan gasp at the few thoughts he heard. ‘’Do you think she’s cheating on you...when she’s pregnant?’’ Jinhwan eyed the younger who leaned back on the chair ‘’I don’t know anymore. She’s really weird. I can’t understand her. I thought she was happy about the damn baby but I don’t understand her at this point…’’ ‘’You should calm down and… try to understand her. In the end, she’s the pregnant one, right?’’ this came out in a joking tone but Hanbin didn’t even laugh. He glared at Jinhwan.

‘’Where’s your husband, Mrs. Kim?’’ the doctor asked, taking the smile away from Hyojin’s lips. ‘’... He’s busy…’’ that answer had become way too frequent the past few weeks even though she couldn’t call him her husband at all. She shook her head slowly, going for the check up like she was supposed to.

A few hours later, the female smiled a bit as she sat down, looking at the ultrasound of her baby. According to the doctor, the baby was almost ready to come out. Her phone ringing distracted her from the ultrasound. Hanbin’s name was displayed on the screen; she sighed and picked it up. ‘’Hey..how’s the baby?’’ Hyojin smiled slightly, hating how frequently she let this go and how she hid her feelings from him. ‘’Doing just fine, the doctor said he shall be out soon.’’ she commented, looking at the ultrasounds. ‘’I’ll send you the ultrasound, hold on.’’ she pulled the phone away from her ear, snapping a picture of the ultrasounds and sending it to him who’d probably be happy to see them.

‘’That’s great news. Do you have anyone to go with you, in case I do not make it? I’m not coming back until next month…’’ Hyojin sighed quietly at the male’s talk. She knew he wasn’t going to be there to see his son. ‘’It’s okay, I’ll ask Seunghee to come with me, don’t worry.’’ she told him, knowing he still was worrying about the baby, rather than for her. ‘’Hanbin…’’ she called out; the male didn’t speak but she didn’t either. She wanted to let out what she felt but she wasn’t brave enough. ‘’Yes?’’ he tried getting her to speak but the female let out a sob ‘’It’s nothing. It’s nothing, don’t worry.’’

Hanbin sighed upon hearing her answer. ‘’I’m not sure I can call you tomorrow…’’ the male started, peeking over at his schedule before nodding his head slowly ‘’That’s okay. Work hard and don’t worry about Seungho, okay?’’ the way she spoke sounded wrong inside his head; he frowned ‘’Hyojin, is everything okay with you? Are you doing fine? Do you want me to come back?’’

The female panicked at his proposal - if he came back, she wouldn’t be prepared enough to pretend everything was okay. ‘’No no! It’s okay, Seungho is alright, he’s doing just fine so you don’t need to worry.’’ she answered right away. ‘’I asked about you though…’’ ‘’I told you, Seungho is fine.’’’ ‘’Hyojin…’’ ‘’I have to go, work hard.’’ ‘’Do-’’ before he could finish his sentence, the call came to an end. He sighed. He tried being comprehensive with her but things weren’t working.

On the other hand, Hyojin found herself crying once again. He asked about her but she couldn’t give out a straight answer. She had convinced herself the baby was the reason why they were together anyways.

Seungho was sleeping in Hyojin’s arms. The female smiled at the sight of her son who was born a couple weeks ago. Hanbin still wasn’t back from his tour but he already had his phone spammed with pictures of his baby boy. Hyojin even took pictures of his family and Seungho as they came to visit her; little did she know that information was what Hanbin needed.

‘’Is everything okay with Hyojin?’’ Hanbin asked, worried, to his mother who only sighed. He knew by this, his girlfriend wasn’t doing fine. ‘’She’s getting very slim very quickly, I’m worried about her. Seungho is fine though.’’ the news of the baby being well should be enough for him to feel happy but they weren’t. Hyojin wasn’t fine, he knew it. ‘’Did...did she say something?’’ he hesitantly asked, to which his mother answered with a question ‘’Did you two fight or something?’’

Hanbin’s brain thought about the question for a while, did they fight? ‘’No, we didn’t fight…’’ his answer wasn’t, however, something he was sure of. ‘’Maybe it’s just me, honey. Maybe she’s just trying to adapt to taking care of Seungho, don’t worry, alright?’’ the male sighed, nodding his head to his mother’s words. How could he not worry, though? If Hyojin wasn’t fine, sooner or later, Seungho would be affected as well.

‘’Daddy is coming back today…’’ Hyojin told Seungho who didn’t understand what she meant. The female smiled slightly at how those news weren’t anywhere near comforting for her. She sighed quietly, leaning down to peck her baby’s head. ‘’You’re going to like him for sure. He loves you just so much.’’ she whispered to the baby who had closed his eyes; probably he was sleepy.

‘’Hyojin, I’m home.’’ Hanbin called out, being aware that his son could be asleep. Hyojin panicked - Seungho was asleep in the room, which meant she would be alone with Hanbin and even though she had tried to prepare herself, she wasn’t prepared to face him. Her heart beat increased as she wiped away the tears he had cried just a few minutes ago. ‘’Hyojin?’’ he called out, once again but she didn’t move.

Hanbin put down his bag, finding weird the fact he wasn’t welcomed by her. The female decided to lay down on the bed and pretend to be asleep. Hanbin soon found her body laying on the room; he sighed out of relief, seeing she was asleep. He sat by her and watched her, frowning at how his mother was right. She was slimmer. ‘’Hyojin…’’ he called her name softly, sighing ‘’What’s wrong with you?’’ he asked her even though he thought she was asleep. ‘’Seungho wouldn’t want to see you like this, why are you acting like this?’’ the male mumbled, resting his hand over her arm ‘’Seungho needs his mother to look after him..’’ Hyojin frowned; in less than a minute, he had mentioned Seungho twice; a part of her was glad he cared that much for his son but the other part was sad that he only thought of her because of his son.

The female sat up, surprising the male. She looked at him quietly; none of them smiled. This lasted until the female looked away and got up, hearing the baby crying. ‘’I’ll go…’’ but the female was nowhere to be seen already.

He followed her to the room the baby was sleeping in. He watched her taking him in her arms ‘’You woke up to meet daddy, didn’t you?’’ she whispered to Seungho who calmed down a few seconds after. Hanbin was able to picture her smile, something he hasn’t seen ever since he left. All the pictures she sent him were about their baby, even when he was still inside her, the pictures he got to see were her stomach, not her face. He should have understood something was wrong right there.

Biting his lip, he walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, making sure to hold onto Seungho as well. He felt Hyojin freeze. His chin rest over her shoulder but she still didn’t move. He knew she was holding onto her breathe by the way she stood. ‘’Hello there, Seungho..’’ he whispered to his son, smiling as the baby giggled. Hyojin moved, looking away; she hated the fact she was still holding onto what she felt instead of enjoying this moment with the two of them.

By now, Hanbin was busy holding onto Seungho; Hyojin managed to sneak away from both of them. She didn’t want to tell Hanbin but she felt like she was in a world totally apart from them. It was even weird for her to sleep in the same bed as him in that moment. It only resulted in her waiting for him to fall asleep so she could get to the living room. Hanbin woke up to emptiness. He looked around for her, frowning as he noticed she slept on the couch. Things weren’t alright between them but he wasn’t sure if it was his fault.

‘’Who’s that?’’ Hanbin whispered as soon as he heard a car pull over. His eyes widened as he noticed Hyojin came out of the car. Not only Hyojin but a guy who was quick to help her get Seungho from the trap the baby chair was in on the back seat where she sat with Seungho and the guy’s baby. Hyojin smiled at him brightly making Hanbin hurt with her actions. He wasn’t even sure when was the last time she smiled at him like that.

He patiently waited until the female walked in with his son and he waited by the window until the car had rolled away. ‘’Who’s that guy?’’ he asked, like it was the normal thing to do. Hyojin set down the baby chair, looking over at Hanbin ‘’A friend.’’ she answered him shortly, nodding her head as she crouched down, taking Seungho off the chair. Hanbin didn’t believe it. That guy had his girlfriend’s smile so easily that it got him mad - what did he have that Hanbin didn’t?

‘’Are you perhaps cheating on me?’’ he asked, noticing Hyojin frowned at his words. It didn’t take long until she started crying. Firstly, he was together with her because of Seungho and then, he accused her of cheating on him? With the a guy who was actually married? Hyojin looked down, wanting to hide her tears. She held onto Seungho and made her way to his room, sniffing quietly while Hanbin only followed her ‘’Are you?’’ he asked, as she didn’t answer him.

She set Seungho down on his crib and turned to meet Hanbin. Considering her son was sleeping, she walked up to Hanbin and took his hand, pulling him with her but he pulled back ‘’Answer me.’’ he sounded mad. Hyojin panicked because of the baby. ‘’Please let’s talk in the room, okay?’’ she pointed at the baby, while her other hand wiped away some tears she still cried. Hanbin rolled his eyes and made his way to their room, waiting for her.

‘’So? Are you cheating on me with that guy?’’ she denied it, shaking her head as she closed the door. ‘’No.’’ she answered him, frowning a bit. ‘’Who’s he?’’ he asked, glaring at the female - she had been acting so weirdly lately that everything could be an excuse for it, everything but him.

Hyojin shook her head slowly, sniffing quietly ‘’He’s a friend. He’s married to an actress and we happen to go to the same baby classes. We met there, he lives nearby, that’s why he drove us home…’’ she explained to him, nodding slowly as she told him the truth. The male smirked, shaking his head at what seemed like an excuse.

‘’You have been acting so weirdly ever since I left that I can’t just believe you. Are you using our son as an excuse to see that guy?’’ the female didn’t like hearing what he just said. She frowned, feeling like she was reaching her limit. She glared up at him ‘’Is that really what you think of me? Is this what I mean to you?’’ the female started, shaking her head slowly ‘’It’s because of you why I’m like this, Hanbin. I didn’t cheat on you. I never cheated on you and I never even thought of cheating on you.’’ she continued, nodding slowly, frowning

‘’I don’t know what to think anymore, Hyojin. I don’t think this is even working out.’’ she never expected to hear those words from his lips; they had Seungho. He was the reason why they were together, right?

‘’Are you breaking up with me?’’ she asked him, frowning at how things had turned out. He didn’t answer her right away. He kept quiet, thinking before he finally spoke something ‘’I need time to think and I’ll take Seungho with me.’’

‘’So… you guys are still… girlfriend and boyfriend?’’ Hyojin was sitting by the bed, sniffing as she hugged her knees up to her chest. Her best friend came over after the fight with Hanbin. She only let Hanbin take their son because she knew she was probably not the best for her son in that moment, she was even feeling weak over everything that happened. ‘’Seunghee, I want to be alone, please…’’ Hyojin whispered quietly, laying down on the bed just to cry once again.
