#24 - “Are we really doing this right now?”

“Are we really doing this right now?”

The question hung in the air you stared in exasperation at the younger male next to you. He just stared back at you with a goofy grin on his face that a part of you wanted to knock right off his face. However, a small part of you melted at the sight of it. Being four years older than him had weighed on your mind more than you would have liked. You liked this goofy grinned boy and sometimes that ate away at you.

“Of course we are Noona! Why else would we be here?”

He nodded his head enthusiastically and skipped ahead of you. Skipped? Yes, skipped and quite happily too.

“Yah! Park Jimin!”

You called after him half heartedly. He pretended that he didn’t know he made your insides turn to mush but he knew. Jimin had been aware of this for the past year. Problem was you didn’t turn his insides to mush. As much as you two were together, which was often it was always just as friends. You weren’t sure if he was just letting you save face or not but he never brought it up and neither did you. Watching him with girlfriend after girlfriend was more than enough confirmation as it was.

Crossing your arms across your chest, you rooted yourself to the concrete beneath your feet. Not moving an inch. After about twenty paces, the vibrant, happy-go-lucky boy turned around to see you much further away than anticipated. Wagging a finger at you, he quickly stomped his way in front of you and pretended as if he was mad. Pinching both of your cheeks and pulling your head to the left and then the right his eyes delved into yours and if it wasn’t for the pain in your cheeks you might have just let it all go and cross that boundary.

“Nooonnnaaaa, live a little. We’re just going to put some bubbles in Tae’s fountain. Be my good girl and help me out.” He said while letting go of your cheeks and patting your head, as if he was the one who was four years older and not the other way around. Warmth rose up in your cheeks and you turned your head away. Be his good girl? It was so close to calling you his girl. Except you knew better.

Letting out a huff, Jimin stared hard at you.

“I didn’t want to have to tell you this, but it was Tae who switched out your hair dye to that hideous green.”

The switch flipped.

“Kim Taehyung!” You ground out and ripped the bottle of bubbles and laundry detergent that Jimin had been carrying in a bag in his left him and sped ahead of him. That little . This prank wasn’t even enough to pay the other back but it was a start. Not pausing to look behind you hollered at your friend.

“Yah, Park Jimin, are you coming?”

That tinkling laugh of his filled the air and you couldn’t help but smile. It was the one noise that could always raise your spirits no matter what was going on. It was that one noise you wouldn’t give up for anything. Not even pushing the boundaries to give your heart a real shot of what it longed for.

Park Jimin was worth having in your life no matter what the cost.
