Chapter 36 : Together

"Noraebang?"
"I call going first!" Mir yelled, running up to select a song.
We all just stood there dumbfounded.
"Since when did you sing, Oppa?" I asked.
He would almost never go karaoke with me.
I only remembered him going once or twice and from what I could recall, he wasn't the world's greatest singer.
"Since now. You don't mind singing a little bit more today, do you?"
Mir's song starts and he starts to sing very flat and off key.
We all burst out laughing.
"Yah, don't laugh at me." Mir whips around and says into the wireless microphone.
It just makes us laugh even more.
Soon, we all catch Mir's high energy and slowly join in.
Not too long, it turns into a party.
Everybody got to sing at least a few times each.
With the help of Luna, I even got Sungjong to be in the non-existant spot light.
He was being really modest, I found out.
He could sing very well. I wonder why he hid his talent?
"Let's have a twin battle! Park twins versus Jo twins!" Donghyun yelled.
"Bring it." Jiyoung smirks grabbing the microphone in Youngmin's hand.
"Try to keep up." An unfamiliar smirk appears on Kwangmin's face and he snatches the mic right back, pushing Jiyoung out of the way so they could go first.
"Yah!" Jiyoung yells as Youngmin joins his brother and they choose a song.
A fast, upbeat song starts to play.
The spectators bounce and shout out the lyrics with Kwangmin and Youngmin.
Even though I wasn't really in the mood, I joined in too.
The beat was infectious and everyone was having so much fun, it had rubbed off on me.
Our karaoke room turned into a dance club.
The song was almost at the end.
Kwangmin start rapping fiercely to keep up with singer.
The rap was fast and it amazed me how Kwangmin did.
All of us together, we sang along to the chorus ended with an abrupt crash.
"Woohoo! Yeah!" Screams and shouts fill the hot room.
The twins pretend to do fan service for us, slapping our palms.
"You're up." Youngmin tosses his mic to Luna.
"Don't choke." Kwangmin does the same to Jiyoung.
"You're going down!" Luna exclaims, spinning the other way quickly and swaggering off to choose a song.
The song starts and I recognize it immediately.
Whenever the three of us went to noraebang, they would team up on me and beat me with that song.
There was no way the Jo twins were going to win.
"Come on, _____!" Luna reaches her hand out to me.
I shake my head smiling politely.
It didn't matter what my answer was because I was pulled up anyway.
The three of us were just dancing and fooling around.
"Girl power!" Jiyoung yells and continues to move her body everywhere.
Parties where always her thing.
I just laugh and go along.
We finish together with their signature ending, we all blow a kiss to the others and wink.
"We totally got them! Woo!" Exchanging high fives, I see Youngmin and Kwangmin with the same exact expressions.
Their mouths were hanging open slightly and their eyes were wide.
"I think we just got owned." Kwangmin said.
Youngmin just nodded in response.
We burst out in laughter and continue on with the night.
Mir goes up with Kwangmin and Minwoo and become a rapping team, Luna and Sungjong do a duet, I go up by myself for a solo and Hyunseong, Donghyun and Jeongmin become the singing counterpart of the rapping team.
"All right, kids! Let's do one last song!" Mir says.
There were more arguments about the song choice, mostly with the younger kids.
And by younger kids I meant Mir and Youngmin.
Sometime later, a song finally gets chosen and they selected White Christmas by Super Junior.
It fit with the season and it was a good song.
All of us share the three microphones and sing altogether.
Look out the window, it's snowing,
The white snow that we've been waiting for is coming,
The white snow that is covering the whole world is coming,
I don't know since when but,
It started not to snow on Christmas,
The whole world will be expecting it,
Expecting snow on Christmas Day.
Singing this for one last time, I really feel the excitement and happiness for the season.
Being together with my friends and my brother made me feel warm.
I was still very upset about what Yoseob had said to me, but I had a new found sense of confidence.
I really didn't feel like what he said to me was true and I would use that to help me prove it.
I wasn't about to give up.
Keeping my head up high, I will keep on trying.
And one day we will go forward. Together.
