Himchan 48

B.A.P. Oneshots II

The loud thunk of dissonance made you wince. You looked up sheepishly and found Himchan smiling at you. “It’s okay. You can adjust the distance if you like. I know it may be a little too far away for you. Make sure you don’t slip up though.” His hand curled over yours as he tried to get you to finger the right chords.

You tried again and this time nothing came out. “Remember, you press between the chords not on them. That just stops the sound from coming.” He chuckled in amusement and shook his head. “Why do you want to learn again?”

You stuck out your tongue. “It’s for my boyfriend. I wanted to sing him a song.”

Himchan sighed and looked at you. “Whatever. Just know that normal big brothers don’t donate so much time to help their little sisters. Especially when she wants to seduce her boyfriend.” He shot you a look. “You better be using protection.”

That did it. You threw the pick at his head. “Himchan, can you please not? We’re nowhere near that level!” You were blushing furiously and he laughed.

“Calm yourself. I was just making sure.”

You rolled your eyes and settled back down. “Okay, what was the acronym again?”

He sat next to you and took the guitar from you. It looked comfortable in his arms, nestled in his elbow and he posed. “Doesn’t Oppa look so dashing?”

You let out an unladylike snort and settled back on the palms of your hands as he plucked a few chords. “It’s Easter Bunnies Go Dancing At Easter. It goes from one E to the other, in another octave.”

You watched him, fascinated, as he started to play. “That acronym was made to help you tune properly. Now as to how to properly play, you need to know how to hold the guitar right.” He was showing you as he talked before looking up again and narrowing his eyes.

“Why are you playing a song for him?”

You rolled your eyes again, letting him see the whites of your eyes. “None of your business.”

He placed the guitar back on the bed. “Okay, then teaching you isn’t my business either.”

You scowled at him. “Fine. It’s his birthday.”

Himchan cackled. “If you mess up, wouldn’t that be a really not so happy birthday instead?” He let out an oomph as you tackled him.

            “Stop, you’re so mean!”

He held up his hands in surrender and picked up the guitar again. “Alright, let’s get started again. When holding it, you need to place your fingers properly. Hold on and make sure that you hold close to the fret. That’s the metal strip right here.”

He placed your fingers gently where they were supposed to. “You need to be conscious of where you place your fingers otherwise you would be playing a song fine and then, urgh.” He made a choking noise. “No sound, all dead.”

You did as he instructed and he grabbed your hands. “You’re going to need to cut those nails honey. None of that long, scratchy claws you have now. When you play guitar, you play with your fingertips, not with the pads of your fingers. It’s like dancing, with your hands.”

He took your right hand. “This is your pick hand, and your left will be the one strumming the frets. Now I’m going to need to teach you how to properly use a pick.”

You shook your head and handed the guitar back to him. “Play something for me.” You begged.

Himchan furrowed his eyebrows. “Okay, what do you want me to play?”

You shrugged. “Anything. I think I’d rather have you play for him for his birthday. I’m too scared of not being able to learn properly.”

Your older brother shook his head at you. “Come here.” He pulled you back next to him. “The pick goes between your thumb and index finger. Close your hands so you make a fist but make sure your thumb is still protruding.” He helped you adjust and then he slid the pick between the two fingers.

“You want to use the pointy end so don’t get that wrong! Now try plucking this string.” You did so experimentally and smiled when a note came out.

He clapped his hands and hugged you. “Great, you’re on your way to being a guitar expert.”

You pushed him again playfully and stuck out your tongue. “Thank you Himchan for your support.”

He scrunched his nose. “I hope your boyfriend has a really bad birthday. Pfft, I haven’t even met the guy yet what makes him think he can date my little sister?”
