Himchan 77

B.A.P. Oneshots II

Himchan was happy. He had a girlfriend who he actually believes may be the one, and he also had a steady, high paying job. His past, with the illegal substances and the heartbreaker was put away, and he was fine now. Nothing could touch him or bring him down.

He waved goodbye to his girlfriend and she blew him a kiss from her window before he started walking down the block, back home. It was too hot for the suit he had on, so he took off the jacket and rolled up the sleeves. He looked at the tattoo he had gotten with her name and smiled. If he had been brave enough, he would have placed her on his heart but at least on his arm, he could always look at it and remember how much she means to him.

Himchan turned around and squinted in the sun to see the now closed window. He grinned, remembering the pillow fight they had early that morning. He shook his head. Nobody but her could make him laugh so much even with just woken up breath.

He turned the corner to enter his apartment building when he saw a figure loitering outside the doors. Everything about her was foreign except for her stance. The way she held herself sparked Himchan’s older memories and he began to back away, feeling the same panic settle in his heart whenever he thought about his past.

The woman turned and he wanted to run. It was her again. She broke out into a tentative smile and stepped towards him. Himchan held his arms out in a sign of defense. “Back away. Don’t come closer,” he warned.

The smile slipped off her face, only to be replaced by a delicate pout. “But Channie,” she whined.

He winced. He didn’t want to hear a nickname fall from her lips. “Please, leave me alone.” The hazy yet distinct memories of drugs and needles and heavy permeated his mind and he gulped. He wanted to get away from it.

“Why? You left me out to dry when we were busted. You let me go to jail alone because they said you were a forced associate. Because I apparently abused you too. But you loved me.” Her eyes narrowed and Himchan moved backwards, feeling the sunlight behind him disappear as he was swallowed by his own dark despair.

He was backed against the entry gate and felt trapped as she neared. Her eyes dropped to his arm, to his tattoo and she sighed. “Who’s that? A new fling? A new mistress? You really do wear your heart on your sleeve, don’t you, Channie?”

He covered the name, feeling violated for her. “Just back off and leave me alone,” he threatened. He used his jacket as a thin barrier and she stepped up to him. He hated that she still made him freak out.

“Come with me, Channie. Just for one night. I’ll make up for everything. I promise. We can erase the past and start a new future; I’ll be nice this time, I promise.”

He set his jaw and looked away. “I won’t. I’ve moved on already. The past life isn’t for me. You can keep finding other dealers and other toys to play with. I’m done.” He made to move and nearly fell backwards when the gate opened.

“Himchan?” He turned around to see his savior behind him. She was holding his briefcase and giving the woman in front of him a strange look. “Who’s this?”

Himchan stepped quickly and glared at his past. “She’s leaving actually and never coming back again.”

His past tormentor glared at the two of them and set her jaw tightly. “You don’t know the type of person he was. You think he’s some clean person with a good background and a steady job? He’s begged for things you don’t want to know, dealt with people you would never want to face. Do you think you can live with that?”

Himchan breathed out harshly but his girlfriend took his arm. “If you think I would drop him because of something he no longer does, you’re wrong. If you think I can stop loving him because of his past, you’re heartless. Stop bothering him and leave him alone. He’s no longer yours to control. He’s his own person now and you’re trespassing on his property. I would leave before he calls the police on you.”

When she finally did leave, Himchan slumped over and breathed out deeply. She touched his arm. “Hey, let’s get inside okay? Don’t beat yourself up over this and don’t think too much on this. If she comes bothering you again, you can move in with me.”

He looked at her carefully.”Did you really mean what you said?”

            “What, moving in?”

            “No, about loving me regardless.”

She smiled and kissed him. “Of course. You already told me everything and yet I’m still, aren’t I? Come on, let’s go. You’re too pale right now and I think I’d like to get you out of that dress shirt.” She winked at him and he took her hand before walking into the apartment building.
