Chapter 45

Yuri stared outside the window at the beautiful but hot day of the shine ray. She touched her right cheek & bit her pale pink bottom lips. Whenever he is, she wished that he was here right now. She didn’t want him here personally but she wanted him here for her son. Taehyun had been whining again, at just the first start of his morning. Yuri couldn’t sleep last night, just hoping that his daddy would come & visit him today. She promised her son & she wanted to keep that promise. Mostly, all the promises that she made with him, she broke them all.

She will miss him but she was doing this for him. Just one day, surely she could take the missing of him. Maybe Taehyun would miss her & wanted to come back. Oh, just maybe.

A hand touched her left hand. She looked down to see Taehyun’s puppy face, “Mommy!” He whined.

“Where’s daddy?!”

“He’s coming, sweetheart.” She told him, hopefully.

He whined again, & started swinging his hands along with hers, “You promise Hyunnie, mommy.”

“I know. Now, go play with your pony.”

“Hyunnie want a real pony. Pony is fake.” He said, pointing to the fake, riding pony.

Yuri whined to herself, “When you are older, I will buy you one. You can even ride on it everyday alright?”

He suddenly grinned with a nod. She let out a relief sigh when he walked back to the pony. Gazing out of the window again, Yuri grimaced. She cursed him somewhat. What was wrong with her? She should be happy since he isn’t here, ‘But I want him here because of Hyunnie.’ She told herself. With a gentle hit on her forehead, Yuri walked over to the phone. She hesitated before dialing his number.

‘Please don’t let him think that I want him here.’

“Hello.” He said, through the phone cheerfully after five rings.

Yuri grimaced at his cheerful voice & played with the phone cord, “Mr...Jaejoong Oppa.” She hesitated at his name, “It’s Yuri.”

Jaejoong nodded. Yes, he noticed that; that’s why it took him five rings to answer the cell. His expression? Well, surprised, of course, “Hey. Is everything.” He trailed off, as a dangerous attack attacked his head. She will never call him, expect if something was terribly wrong with Taehyun, “Is Hyunnie alright?” He asked, as he speed up & ran a red light.

“Yes, of course.” She said, with a frown.

Jaejoong let out a relieved sigh. She scared him. He stepped on the brake & slowed the car down. Nothing happened to Taehyun, “Oh.” He said, feeling a bit dumbfounded of not knowing what to say, “So, what’s up?” ‘Stay cool.’

“Hyunnie’s asking for you. If you are not busy, can you take him for the day?” She asked, with a tight heart, “Well, I…”

“It’s okay if you are busy. I will just explain it to him.” Yuri interrupted, without letting him finish his sentence.

“No, I’m not busy. Actually, I’m parking in your driveway right now.” He said, & took out his keys from the ignition. Yuri frowned with a part of her lips. She gently put the phone down on the table & walked to the window. True to his word, his car laid on the driveway. She watched as he got out of his car with his cell still on his ear, circled the key chain around his index finger, popped the keys into his pocket & opened the gate. She grimaced at his active way & walked back to the phone.

“Thank you.” She said.

“Yeah.”

Hanging up the phone, she walked to the door as he ringed the bell. Taehyun’s eyes widened. He climbed down from his cute pony & ran to the door, passing Yuri. Before she could catch him, he opened the door & jumped into the hands of his daddy.

“Whoa there.” Jaejoong burst out into laughters as he picked Taehyun up & started to spin him around in light circles. The little guy giggled with kicking legs while enjoying the spin. Yuri crossed her arms & silently watched them. As the spin ended, Jaejoong kissed Taehyun on the cheeks & laughed some more. Minutes later, he finally noticed Yuri staring at them. He grinned, showing his perfect teeth at her. She nodded her head as a greeting.

“Hello daddy.” Taehyun finally had the chance to say with all his giggles.

Jaejoong averted his attention back to Taehyun, “Hello there, little guy. How have you been?”

“I’m a good boy.” He said, with a quick movement.

“To your mommy?” Jaejoong asked, while at the corner of his eyes, he was looking at Yuri.

Taehyun turned to look at Yuri’s expressionless face & then turned back to Jaejoong, “Yeah.” He said, with a cute lie.

Jaejoong continued his grin as he turned to Yuri, “Can I come in?” He asked, as if innocent. Yuri gave him a silent nod & moved aside. She was hoping he had leave & not enter the house. The more Taehyun stayed before he takes him away; her heart will grow with hatred very minute for the man. Jaejoong entered with Taehyun in his arms & closed the door. He looked around before walking into the living room.

“Look at me pony.” Taehyun said, pointing to the fake pony.

“Very cute. Can you go show me how you ride it?” Taehyun bobbed his head up & down & wiggled to get down. Before Jaejoong can set the little guy’s feet down on the floor, Taehyun jumped down & ran the short distance to the pony. Jaejoong’s laughter rang the gloomy house as Taehyun’s little legs tried to kick the sides of the pony. Taehyun grinned, proud that he was making his daddy laugh.

Jaejoong turned to Yuri as Taehyun began to show him his other toys. The handsome grin was still on his face nor can it ever be wiped off if Taehyun was there.

“Do you want a drink?” Yuri asked.

He shook his head, “No thanks. Is your mom home yet?”

She nodded, “She’s taking a nap upstairs.”

Jaejoong chuckled, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know that. I must had woke your mom up with all my noises.”

“My mom’s alright with that.” She cleared , wanting to get this over with, “Will you be leaving with Hyunnie soon?” He nodded, “I packed his stuff already for the stay & the list he should have or shouldn’t have.”

“Thank you.” Jaejoong said, staring at her beautiful face. He turned around & searched for Taehyun through all of his toys. Walking over, he spotted Taehyun’s bared feet from under all of his teddy bears. Jaejoong shook his head. He bent down & tickled the boy’s bottom feet. Giggles came out from the teddy bears. Jaejoong laughed. He quickened the tickles. Suddenly, a head popped out.

“You win, daddy!” He exclaimed, with a surrender voice.

“Yes, I did.” He picked Taehyun up & placed him on his hips, “Are you ready to go have some fun?” Taehyun bobbed his head, “Come on then. We don’t want to be late for anything that’s awaiting us.” He took the green quilted baby bag that Yuri was holding up, “I will bring him back in the morning.”

Yuri nodded & walked pass them. Jaejoong sighed. Yes, he knew what he was doing, “You ready, Hyunnie?” He looked at his daddy then his mommy. Back at his daddy again, then back at his mommy, “Mommy not going?”

Jaejoong shrugged, “Why don’t you asked mommy?”

He pouted, “Mommy?”

Yuri averted & forced a smile to her face, “What is it, sweetheart?”

“Go with Hyunnie & daddy.” He said, about to cry.

She shook her head, “Mommy can’t alright? I have to look over granny.”

“But mommy…”

“You are a big boy. Now, go on & have fun. Don’t cry okay?”

He gave a sniff, “Byebye, mommy.”

“Bye. Have a lot of fun.”

Jaejoong couldn’t help but stare at her. She turned to look at him & their eyes locked. In her eyes, he could tell that they were filled with sorrow just because of him. He really did; he really did try not to hurt her.

“Yuri.” He said. She kept staring at him, “Why don’t you go with us? It’s only Hyunnie & me. More always add to the fun.”

‘That’s what you mean when you cheated on me, huh?’ She thought, ‘More always add to the fun.’

“I told you I’m busy.” Yuri said quite rudely. She cleared quickly, “I’m sure two is quite enough to have fun.”

“If you say so.” He whispered, “Let’s go, Hyunnie.” Without another last look at Yuri, he turned around & walked out of the house with Taehyun. He did tried to be nice at that time but it seems like she wanted the hard way. Whichever way she wants, it was fine with him.

Yuri walked to the window. He was really good with kids but he wasn’t good with her. She noticed he wanted to be nice but he wasn’t going to get to her with his words of sorriness. Why was she born just to live in darkness of his world? By her highest lord, she never wanted to admit it but he had haunted her life ever since the day when he signed the divorcement paper. Yes, she had said she had erased him from her mind but that was a lie. He had haunted her.

On the day when she gave birth to Taehyun, that was the day where she had suffered most of those four years. No one was there for her. No one was there to comfort sweet words to her. Her family wasn’t there to whisper their love of wishes. Mina was away at school, trying to succeed what she needed, too. Her husband wasn’t there to give her the love she needed but he was now here to give her the words of hatred as an ex-husband but at last, Kwon Taehyun was born to love her. He gave her a whole new name, mommy.

“I said next week. Yeah, yeah. I will talk to her. Bye.” Jaejoong hung up the phone & turned it off so nobody can disturb his day with his little boy again. As he looked down, he saw Taehyun looking up at him.

“Who was that?” He asked, & his chocolate chip cookie ice cream.

Jaejoong his own vanilla ice cream & said, “My lawyer. You remember Su?” Taehyun nodded, “That was him.” He took Taehyun’s wee hand & started walking down the sidewalk, passing tons of people. Fireworks went off here & there. Colorful balloons were freely flying towards the night sky. Food & cloth stalls were set here & there for the celebration of the downtown fair that happens only once a year during the summer.

He tied another balloon to Taehyun’s wrist that was already held up with two other balloons, “Hyunnie give one to Hyunnie.” He said to himself, “Hyunnie give one to mommy & Hyunnie give one to you, daddy.” He said proudly.

Jaejoong grinned at his smartness, “Want to dump the ice cream & head towards the food?” Taehyun nodded. Within the next trashcan, in went their ice cream at the same time. Jaejoong chuckled. Taehyun looked up at him mischievously again, & copied his chuckle.

After eating, they went home, Jaejoong’s home. Awe at the beautiful apartment, Taehyun giggled.

“Pretty!” He exclaimed, pointing to the tons of teddy bears hanging down from the ceiling.

“It is, isn’t it? Do you want one?” He asked, remembering the teddy bears Taehyun was playing with earlier at his grandparents’ house. He bobbed his head up & down. Jaejoong grinned. He pulled out a chair from the far corner & stood on it, “Which one do you want?” Taehyun pointed to the teddy bear with the guitar, “Great choice.” Jaejoong reached over & gently took it from the hook. He jumped down from the chair, walked over to Taehyun & handed him the bear.

The little guy slowly took the bear from his daddy & hugged it close to his wee chest, “Thank you, daddy.” “Your very welcome.” Jaejoong said, “Now, let’s see what we should do.” He took out the list Yuri had given him in from the baby bag. He grimaced at every single word, “Applesauce? Hyunnie, you are not hungry, are you?” He shook his head while kissing the bear on his eye. Jaejoong chuckled & tucked the list back into the bag, “Let’s eat that later then.” He took the big box as a gift from Jessica on the table & walked over to Taehyun.

Taehyun’s eyes widened, “What’s that?”

“A gift for you from Jessica. You remember her, right?” Taehyun nodded, “Well, she can’t come & visit you now so she decided to buy a little gift for you. Go ahead & open it.”

He looked at Jaejoong & at the big wrapped box again, “Open it?” Jaejoong nodded. Taehyun grinned. He torn off the blue wrappers & opened the box with Jaejoong’s help after eight minutes. He grabbed the thing & parted his lips with a gasps.

“Do you like it?” Jaejoong asked, with a chuckle.

He bobbed his head & took the t-rex fully out of the box. He soothed his hands over the rex’s rough & fake skin. Running his fingers over the dinosaur’s teeth, Taehyun giggled, “I like it.”

“Let’s help him stand up, shall we?” With his daddy’s help, they got the t-rex stood to its highest height. Taehyun giggled again, as he stared up at the tall dinosaur.

“Tall like you, daddy.”

Jaejoong nodded, even though he was taller than the dinosaur. As he was about to sit down, the phone ranged, “I will get that.” He walked the short distance to the phone & answered it, “Hello.”

“Hey, honey. It’s mom. Where had you been all day? I had been trying to reach you.”

“Oh, I had been out, mom. Hyunnie’s here with me.”

Mrs. Kim widened her eyes in surprises, “Really?” He uttered a yes, “With Yuri’s permission?”

“Yes, mom.”

“That’s great then. Bring him here tomorrow if you can alright?”

“It depends. I have to take him back to Yuri in the morning. So, it will be a rough schedule.”

“It will be great if you can, Jaejoong. I want to get to know my grandson better.”

“I will try mom.”

“& I almost forgot why I called you for. Jessica’s wedding dress was just brought in this morning. Come & see it tomorrow if you can. It’s beautiful.”

Jaejoong couldn’t help but smile, “I will, mom. Thank you. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight to you & Hyunnie, too. Bye.”

Mrs. Kim hung up. Jaejoong placed the phone back into its place & turned to Taehyun. Walking over to him, he sat down on the floor beside the t-rex, facing Taehyun. The little guy pouted. Jaejoong tilted his head, rested his chin on the palm of his hand & smiled, “What’s wrong? Tired after the zoo & fair & playing with that dinosaur?”

He shook his head, “Hyunnie miss mommy.”

Jaejoong’s heart lightened. He leaned over, “We will see mommy tomorrow morning alright? By the time, let’s play t-rex.”

A smile tugged on Taehyun’s lips, “Okay.”

Jaejoong smiled with relief. He really wanted to spend his free time with this wonderful guy that was brought into his life. No kid can take Taehyun’s place.
