Chapter 102

“Are you going to file it or not?”

“I’m sorry, Doyeon, but I can’t help you.” Jaejoong signed his name onto the civil case, folded it & then sealed it without a mere glance at Doyeon. He threw it onto the tray, just waiting for his secretary to take it up. Then, as Jaejoong looked up for the first time after Doyeon had entered the office, he folded his hands onto his lap & tilted his head as if asking a question.

“What’s up with this, huh?!” Doyeon growled, “You are against me for filing a divorce against your sister, not caring of the fault that she had caused! What the hell is this?!”

“What use is it to file a divorce when you know Ahjoong won’t even sign it?”

Doyeon snorted, “She will sign it.”

Jaejoong shook his head slowly & leaned back against the chair, “It’s no use, Doyeon. I can’t help you. Get yourself another lawyer.”

“Dammit!” Doyeon shouted, slamming his fist on the desk, “You are the only one who can make this pass faster than possible! I want a divorce with her! There’s no way I’m going to be living with a woman like that! If you know better, file it! Your life can go better this way, Jaejoong!”

“How is that?”

Doyeon growled again, “It will stop your sister’s whining! She can continue on her perfect life as a skinny model!” He took in a huge breath, shuddering at the thought, “I’m tired of this conversation, Jaejoong, just file the damn divorce papers!”

“There’s no use of asking me because I’m not going to do it. This has nothing to do with anything that Ahjoong is my sister. She didn’t ask me not to write the divorce papers. I’m asking myself not to.” He leaned forward & pressed a button on the phone, “Hyoyeon, can you bring me those papers now?” Then, as he leaned back, Jaejoong said to Doyeon, “I will see you soon.”

“There’s no way I’m walking out of this room without a yes from you, Jaejoong. I need those papers & you are the only one that will write it out.”

“I’m sorry, Doyeon, those that are not my clients can’t tell me what to do. This will go much easier if you will just leave right now.” The door opened. Hyoyeon walked in & handed a small pack of papers to Jaejoong. As she walked out again, Jaejoong flipped through the papers, taking peeps up at Doyeon.

“Fine. If this is what you want, so let it be.” Doyeon his heels but stopped as Jaejoong spoke up, “This changes nothing.”

Angling his head to the side, Doyeon uttered, “I’m going off to to Hong Kong.” As Jaejoong didn’t speak, he added, “I was promoted there months ago, just hadn’t been in a good mood to go. In case you are wondering if I will ever be back, no, I have had enough of this.”

“I know why you are asking for the divorce papers to be file in such a pace but what’s the other reason? There’s never one reason; there’s always another along with it.” Doyeon shrugged carelessly, put his hand on the doorknob & opened the door, “Are you going alone?”

Doyeon stopped again, sighed & answered, “No.” He took a minute to add gradually, “I’m going with someone else.”

“Sunny Lee?”

Doyeon grimaced before answering, “Yes. How?” He stopped his sentence, knowing well how Jaejoong knew, “I will come back for some visits at times.”

“Good luck.”

Doyeon grunted his thank you & stalked out. Suddenly, as if tired, Jaejoong slammed his head back & closed his eyes. He couldn’t think of any possible way of saying no to Doyeon. It wasn’t for his sister’s sake. He would have written it but something had blocked him from doing so. What was the use to file it when one wouldn’t sign it?

His eyes quickly opened & looked up at the clock; it was well past his lunchtime, “Oh, .” With a kick, Jaejoong abruptly stood up & walked out of the room incautiously. If it was past his lunchtime, it was well past Yuri’s. Driving to the school, he took out his cell phone & called her. On the fifth ring when she didn’t answer, he shut his phone & continued driving. She wouldn’t mind him being late but he minded his own lateness but a smile appeared on his lips. She loves him. He chuckled to himself. What a great woman she is. Such sweetness had gotten him crazy.

“Donghae Oppa.” Yuri grimaced along with a frown as she thought she saw his shoulders slouching. Her feet brought her nearer as she tapped him on the shoulder, “How have you been?”

He turned around & smiled, “I’m doing great. You?”

Yuri tried not to sigh, seeing that the smiled was fake, “I’m doing good.” She tried to meet his eyes as he looked away, “I had been trying to keep in contact with you for a week since I came back. Where were you?”

“I was busy.” Donghae walked passed her towards the chair behind his desk. He sat down & pretended to look at the calendar in front of his face, “February eighth.” He murmured, under his breath.

Yuri bit her gum, sat down & stared at the back of the calendar. As minutes passed by, she exhaled heavily & snatched the thick paper away, “Please don’t think so much of it? I’m alright.” With brows narrowed, she pleaded him with her eyes. He looked lost into another different world. His eyes had changed & she knew better than to guess why, “Talk to me please?”

“I can’t.” He responded, shaking his head guiltily, “Please just leave, Yuri? I don’t want to mess anything up again.”

“But you haven’t listen to me yet. I want to talk to you, Oppa. I know how you feel. I don’t know if to blame you or not to.” She exhaled, “The...The miscarriage is overwhelming, though Jaejoong & I will get over it some time. I want you to get over it soon.”

“Why are you being so nice, Yuri? I don’t deserve this. I...I feel so lost, so guilty & so stupid. I should have known better than to have any feelings for you. I know I had cause several difficulties & I can’t tell you how sorry I am.”

Yuri smiled sadly, “I know but Oppa, I don’t want you running away from me every time I try to get into contact with you. I want us to be friends again.”

“I doubt that, Yuri.”

The little smile disappeared from her face. She stared at him, confused “What do you mean?”

“It’s simple; I still have feelings for you. I know I shouldn’t be having it & telling you, too. You are one beautiful & intelligent woman but you have a husband.” He shook his head, “I don’t want to cause any further problems.”

“But, Oppa, I.” She stopped her sentence without hesitating. Brushing a lock of her hair away from her face, she said, “Jaejoong & I had already talked about this.” She watched as his face questioned her, “We are still friends. He’s fine with it.”

“Yuri.” Donghae hesitated, standing up, “You don’t understand, do you?” He wiped his mouth & then placed his fist upon it, “I can’t be friends with you, Yuri. I can’t. I’m sorry.”

“What do you mean?” She stood up, questioning eyes on him.

“Please, Yuri, I don’t want this conversation to go on any further? You know well why we can’t be friends. It doesn’t matter if Jaejoong let’s it be.” He let his palm fall onto the desk, his head down, “I’m moving to China. I got a position there as a professor. It’s easier for me.”

“I don’t understand you at all, Oppa. You use to be an energetic teacher & coach. Why had this cause all of you to change? As a friend, I’m disappointed in you. You are the one who had really made me feel welcome in this school. You are the one who greeted me climbing down from a ladder.” She exhaled, “I’m not going to stop you from going to China. If that’s where you want to go, it’s fine with me. I just hope you find joy & love. I will see you around the school. Goodbye.”

Yuri walked the short distance to the school. She opened the door just as Donghae’s voice found its way out, “I’m going after this school year ended. Maybe I will change my mind.”

She turned around, smiled a bit & said, “I hope you do.” He looked up & met her eyes. She smiled wider, causing him to smile as well.

He nodded, “Thank you.”

Yuri laughed, “Why, I feel like a little girl.” She waved, “I will see you around.” Walking out, she closed the door. With the smile still on, her feet led her down the hall. She knew she could persuade him somehow but it was hard for her to persuade her husband last night until she gave him what he wanted. She laughed quietly.

“Where have you been, beautiful?”

She smiled at the voice & turned around, “& where have you been, handsome?”

Jaejoong smiled, kissed her lightly on the lips & looked down at her, “I’m sorry I was late for lunch. I was talking to your brother.”

“I know.”

“Then you know he’s moving to Hong Kong?” Yuri nodded again, “With Sunny Lee?”

“Oppa.” Yuri said, taking his hand in hers & walking down the lobby, “I know how you must feel & I’m sorry.”

“Ahjoong’s been off her mood lately.” Jaejoong turned to look at Yuri, “I decided not to file the divorce papers for Doyeon. It’s not because of Ahjoong, Yuri, but what’s the use to file one when you know that your spouse won’t sign it?” He smiled lightly, “You know what? I’m thinking about dropping my divorce practice in law & just continue with what I enjoy most. What do you think?”

“If that’s what you want, it’s fine with me. I hate to see you come home every day with a gloomy face, saying that you had just divorced two couples.”

“Actually.” Jaejoong said, opening the door to her office & pulling her in, “I don’t want to write anymore divorce papers for the both of us.” He closed the door & backed her up against it, “Remember, Yul, the bargain is still with us.” He smiled, “No divorce.”

“Of course.” She tilted her head, fixing his navy blue silk repp narrow tie, “You are one damned handsome husband. Anybody reading our story would probably be tired of our kissing & words but Oppa, I don’t care; I love you.”

“But I love you more, sweetheart. There’s only one thing that you have wrong there, Yul.” He whispered huskily, “No one would ever tired of our love.” He brushed his lips against hers, “But of course, they will be jealous.” He chuckled & kissed her.
