"Junghwa-oppa... I know you're here... I wanted to say... I love you and I hope you are happy wherever you are." I smiled at the thought of him in my imagination's version of heaven, wearing an all-white suit.
My father returned soon enough. He didn't say a word, only tried opening my door, saw that it was locked and walked away.
I reached for my cellphone. Had it been only a couple of months ago, I would've called Jiyong-ssi, no matter our jagged relationship. If only he was here.
Instead, I got a call from Soo Jeong, which was odd 1) because it's Soo Jeong and 2) because I don't remember ever putting her name in my contact list.
"Yeobohsayo?" I asked tiredly.
"Aaah, maybe I should've waited to call. You're too tired from all the stress, right?" It sounded like Soo Jeong, but she wasn't speaking the way she normally does. She sounded almost like she... Cared...
"No, it's okay. I'm kind of all right." I said.
"Look, Kim-ssi, I wanted to ask you if you want to meet up with me? Over coffee maybe? I don't know, I know you and Jiyong were friends and I just want to fill in his spot for you, if you want to of course."
This wasn't a bad idea at all, even coming from Soo Jeong. I agree and we plan to meet up not far from my father's house.
