“Is this why you left?” Lilly demanded with a tremor in her voice

Kai felt a sharp panic zip through his chest. There was a pain in Lilly’s eyes, but she was trying hard to mask it. He’d let Sung-kyung distract him. She was always ing distracting him. Baekhyun and Chanyeol were with her. Of course, this was probably part of the plot. Bring Lilly here so she could catch him out and call off the engagement. Well, Lilly wasn’t that stupid. It would take more than his ex-girlfriend showing up to ruin their relationship.

“Hey,” Kai soothed as he wrapped an arm around Lilly’s stiff shoulders, “What are you doing here?”

Sung-kyung launched forward. An idea sprung into her mind, “You’ve ruined the surprise.”

“You’re Lee Sung-kyung,” Lilly pretended to recognise the designer, but she already knew who the real Lee Sung-kyung was. Kai’s high school sweetheart. Like that even meant anything these days!

Sung-kyung bowed, even though Lilly did not, “I am flattered.”

“But…” Lilly tugged on Kai’s jacket, “It still doesn’t explain what you’re doing here Jongin…”

Sung-kyung imagined punching her right then. Images of tackling the stiff woman to the floor made her happy,

“Oh oh,” Sung-kyung feigned guilt and winked at Baekhyun and Chanyeol, who both, looked the other way, as if this could save them from complicity, “looks like the cat’s out the bag guys.”

Kai shot her daggers, warning her not to do anything but she had to follow through otherwise getting caught like this would amount to nothing, “Tell her Lee Jongin.”

“Tell me what?” Lilly sounded uncertain, nervous. Sung-kyung felt a little bad for stealing someone else’s fiancé.

Kai laughed nervously, “There’s no need. Darling, I’ll explain everything when we’re home.”

“Okay, I’ll tell her,” Sung-kyung ignored Baekhyun and Chanyeol shaking their heads vigorously in the background. They didn’t know what she’d say, but it was bound to be trouble. Kai would most likely take out his anger on them. Aish, I just came back for an engagement party! Baekhyun screamed on the inside. ing holy trinity getting me involved with their suicide mission.  

“Lilly ssi, if you will have me, I will design your wedding dress!” Sung-kyung blurted out, “It was meant to be a surprise. As one of your wedding presents, isn’t that right Jongin ssi?”

Everyone looked at Kai.

Kai had two choices, he could go along with Sung-kyung or get into a complicated conversation of explaining to Lilly that he’d left their engagement party, yes to follow Sehun, Kyungsoo and Arran, but had inevitably run into his ex and was now eating ice cream with said ex instead of returning to his engagement party…whew that was a mouthful just thinking about it, “Absolutely!” he lied with a straight face

Chanyeol and Baekhyun gave a thumbs up to Sung-kyung behind Kai and Lilly’s back.

“Really?” Lilly bit her lip.

“I’m so sorry I ruined your engagement party; this was the only free time in my schedule. You see I’m in town to finalise the Seoul branch of Frangipani. I didn’t give Jongin ssi much of a choice,
