Golden Quill - The Leaders (GQ3)Kris covered his ears; this was ing getting on his nerves. What the hell was up with Zhang Yifeng and making the entire household listen to his crappy 80s music. Every night since Kris had been trapped on this island at 9 pm on the dot, Yifeng’s music was blasted through the speakers of the house. Every room had a speaker so you couldn’t escape it, even the bathrooms.
Yimin opened his bedroom door, motioning for Kris to follow him, “I know my brother has ruined a perfectly good song but it’s the perfect cover for us. Just follow and no talking.”
Kris nodded and they walked normally down the stairs and out the back door. Yimin nodded at a guard and pulled out a silver case of cigarettes.
Kris shot him a disapproving look. Not another one. Chen had better quit. If he knew Chen had taken an oath to never smoke again if Kris came home safe, he’d have felt very loved.
Kris realised that the cigarettes were just a cover. They pretended to smoke as they walked around the house. Yimin put out the cigarette and pointed down to a trap door. Kris lifted it for him.

Tao had been stuck in what he suspected was the basement of some house. He could hear the ocean but that was it. Besides the bars that surrounded him, the entire floor was converted into very comfortable living quarters. He had TV but no internet, a bathroom with bathtub and shower. There was even exercise equipment in one corner. A library of books, a writing desk and a comfortable bed. Every day someone delivered fresh food and collected his laundry and returned freshly pressed laundered clothes bath to him. There was a tiny window, and he was able to at least see the sunshine, and depending on its position, the moon.
“Zitao.”
“Yifan!” Tao rushed to the bars and reached his arms through “I mean President.”
Kris grabbed them, “You’re safe.”
“Well taken care of actually.” Tao admitted begrudgingly, “But what’s with this music.” He spotted Yimin, “and who’s the hostile?”
“He’s a good kid.” Kris quickly filled Tao in.
“Davi!” Kris shot him a warning look, “Doesn’t sound familiar.” Tao quickly covered up.
“You can’t stay long. I’ll wait outside.” Yimin left them alone.
“Davi! Your Davi?” Tao quizzed Kris.
“Is that our most pressing concern?” Kris snapped, “We have to find a way to get off this island.”
“I’m kinda stuck.”
“There’s a boathouse but it’s under surveillance. I don’t have an excuse to go down there. Only Zhang Yifeng has the key.”
“Who is this Zhang Yifeng?”
“Zhang Yixing’s crazy younger brother.” Kris shivered, “I’d rather be down here.”
“Then tell them to swap us.” Tao teased.
Yifan smiled.
Tao returned the smile, “Yifan, you have to get the keys to the boathouse. That’s the first step. After that you can free me.”
“I have a week. I overheard Yifeng say that Yixing will be back next week and then they’ll have to take care of us.”
Tao shivered. “Guess this hospitality couldn’t last forever.”
“I won’t let anything happen to you.” Kris promised, “I have to go.”
“Hey hyung. Fighting,” Tao grinned.
Kris shook his head. Tao ever the optimist.
