Plan in Motion
Golden Quill - The Leaders (GQ3)The next morning, Song Minah entered the breakfast room and looked around. Where was everyone? Turning, she noticed the open terrace doors. Sehun sat at a round table on the terrace.
A light breeze billowed the curtains and gave her that fresh feeling one gets when winter gives way to Spring, or on a Friday afternoon when work is done and you’re about to meet the girls for a drink and you’re walking along the pavement, the sun filtering through the green leaves, bouncing off your head, warm and bright and happy.
“Breakfast is taken inside,” she sounded stern but placed a hand on his shoulder affectionately. One day this would be his and she’d be long dead with no cares for what the living was up to, let alone if they were taking breakfast in the wrong room.
Sehun smiled slightly. That half-smile he shared with his mother, the mocking smile. “Halmeoni should take breakfast out here sometimes. This house has so much to offer.”
“I made this house what it is today.” She hmphed, “My grandmother built it, but I brought glory to it.”
“Of course. Agassi is the best!” he gave her two thumbs up.
Minah rounded the table, paused at an empty chair assessing the view of the garden. Over Sehun’s left shoulder was the greenhouse. A 50th birthday present from Gaelin. It had taken six months to construct and it was she who’d suffered the noise of builders…but it had been worth it.
Sehun jotted down notes in his pocketbook as she walked around again, this time stopping behind him. From here, the green grass rolled out over small mounds, Cherry blossoms not yet in bloom, still did a good job of concealing her sister’s house (Taehyung’s mother) – on second thought, the greenhouse was the better view.
“Where is Isa?” Minah drummed her fingers impatiently on the table.
“The House Master is…” Haida began
Sehun cleared his throat, “You rely too much on that girl. You were never like this with Ren or Sia.”
“I can no longer do all the things I used to on my own.” Minah defended sulkily, “I want sweet tea.” She told the butler.
Sehun would have protested but September beat him to it, “The Chairlady will have black tea.” September bowed and took a seat in-between Sehun and the disgruntled Chairlady.
Sehun inspected his HM for any sign of the drinking binge she’d been on last night. Dark circles, blotchy skin, the smell of alcohol but there was nothing, “Good morning, Isa”
“Good morning Director. When did you get here?” She checked the household schedule for the previous day.
“It was spur of the moment.” She was silently chastising him for not updating the schedule. “I slept here,” Sehun added, watching for a reaction then deduced that she didn’t remember last night, or chose to pretend she didn’t. He hadn’t decided whether to let it slide.
“Let’s go over the schedule.” September handed the Chairlady the Song Household Schedule, “Eun-hee ssi will be here at 10h00 for your hair appointment, thereafter your weekly lunch with Madame Kim is in the greenhouse…” Song Minah muttered something under her breath. September hid a smile. The rivalry between the sisters raged on as if they were still 16. “A rest period in the afternoon and I will be back by 16 hundred hours for the inspection of the grounds and then you can dress for dinner. Lee Jongin and his fiancé are scheduled to arrive at 19 hundred hours…”
“Wait…what?” Sehun had been following the schedule on his phone, “This is new…” he looked up puzzled and annoyed that his brother had gone behind his back and contacted his household.
“Lee Jongin contacted me this morning. It seems Ms Kim enjoyed your company Chairlady…”
“And this house,” Sehun’s com
