Standing Rules
Golden Quill - The Leaders (GQ3)“May I?”
Jin motioned with a hand as he checked something on his schedule. Kyungsoo walked across the dining room and observed the islanders, who were outside, apparently discussing the new arrangements.
“So when we thought Baekhyun was off finding himself, he was here?” Kyungsoo asked Sehun, who’d come to stand with him. “Convenient.” He glanced up at Sehun, “And a happy reunion for you.” Kyungsoo turned to face the others, “No one says anything out of turn. We’re still guests here, no matter how much we despise it.” Everyone nodded, “And try not to annoy the islanders,” he glanced at the judges.
“How does it work?” Sehun asked Jimin, “Aren’t you technically in charge of operations of the island now?”
“Technically, but the family still maintains control until midnight tomorrow.” Jimin answered, “I see your hobby is also reading manuals.”
Sehun didn’t comment.
“Will you be able to put on the competition you originally planned?” Taemin’s only concern was the competition. This was his one shot. If he didn’t take it now, all he’d have was the Madame married to Kai. He’d lost his shot with Taeyoon. She liked him, he knew they had more in common but she was openly in a relationship with Chanyeol. Ruling vicariously was the last resort.
Minah turned to Chen, “Do you think Yeji is alright?” The parents shared the same worry that their child might become involved in the Competition.
“Well, the psychopath is with us, so she’s fine.” Chen assured with a squeeze of her hand, “Xiumin and Suho will protect Yeji with their lives.”
“They’re probably enjoying Finite room service and movies right now,” Taeyoon added a warm scenario for Minah to imagine. Taeyoon went over to Taemin.
“Before you say it, I had my reasons for Wu Yifan.”
“It’s unforgivable.” Taeyoon sat on the empty chair beside him, “Whatever hope you had of forming any connection with them, is gone.”
Taemin didn’t respond in the way she expected, “I’ve started keeping that journal. It’s helped.”

Outside, the islanders didn’t find this new arrangement as simple as their counterparts. “I want to make one thing clear…” Yifeng told them, “First, whatever deals we have made, does not fall away, no matter the outcome of either competition.”
Baekhyun, Sung-kyung, Kris and Tao exchanged a nervous look.
“Let’s say I lose…” Yifeng lifted a shoulder, “Hypothetically, or worse die for some reason - all my property transfers automatically back to the family.” they looked at September, “Including living property.” he said for their benefit.
There was a depressed silence.
“I won’t die…”
They sighed heavily.
“So just so we’re clear....” Sung-kyung spoke up.
“Of course, it’s you.” Yifeng rolled his hand for her to continue.
“My deal to remain on the island for a year still stands, even if Sunbae dies?”
“That deal, I might make an exception for and revoke.”
“The feeling is mutual, Asian joker.” Sung-kyung took a step forward. Yifeng automatically moved behind September.
“Didn’t you make a deal with Le
