56. Work

This is the Choi Family

It's the end of midterm week~! Time to eat, sleep, and breath kpop until the next round begins....<3 If it's not over for you, good luck~ Either way, happy Friday~

------------

After his promotion period ended, Hoshi went back to creating choreography and improving his dance. He didn't take breaks, only being dragged away from the company by Seungcheol and Joshua occasionally. It's not that he doesn't need a break, he just couldn't help but want to improve. These days he has been chatting with Woozi on Uprising. Since their collaboration and Woozi said they could stay friends, he's been popping in messages here and there. He also learned that it was Woo who was communicating with him, Ji still a mystery even now.

Hoshi: Good morning Woo-ssi~ <3

He couldn't help but type like a love-drunk fool, it was Woozi, the idol of many, a mystery to all. Being a fanboy since the beginning, he can't help but let the affection seep through his online persona.

Woozi: It isn't morning anymore, rather good afternoon :)

Woozi: How was your sleep?

Since Hoshi has a physically exhausting job, he tends to keep his work hours later in the day until early in the morning (meaning he sleeps in all the time).

Hoshi: Ah... you caught me.

Hoshi: I slept well~

Woozi: That's good to hear. I heard you label mate is had a comeback recently? Isn't their choreography yours?

Hoshi: Wow! How did you know?

Hoshi's name is in the credits for everything he is involved in but it is rarely a topic in the news, as the people performing it always take the spotlight. He blushed a little, happy that the Woozi takes notes of those fine prints.

Woozi: Of course I know. I can read you know

Hoshi: It's just that nobody really pays attention to the fine print. I'm happy that you know :)

Woozi: Well, you're underappreciated then. Good job.

Hoshi: Since the reveal that Woozi is a duo, do you plan on separating you guy's credit?

He was curious, how the famous WooJi duo work together, if there was a chance that Woo would want to be separated from Ji, to be an individual. Hoshi wanted the spotlight ever since he found his passion in dance, and Woozi helped him achieve that dream, even if it was just for a while before the spotlight landed on Woozi again.

Woozi: Hmm... I never thought of that. I don't think I ever will though, unless Ji wants me to.

Woozi: After all, the reason of our success is all due to Ji's amazing skills. If anything, everything should be Ji's

Hoshi: Don't say that. You sang all those hit songs. You should take credit too

Woozi: Thanks. It does feel good to be validated

Hoshi: Now that I'm on you're good side, wanna tell me a spoiler for you guy's next project ;)?

Woozi: LOL no. ;)

Hoshi: y not ;D

Woozi: Cuz I don't even know ;P

Hoshi: liar :O

Woozi: got me there :3

They continue to message in light banter until Woo had to go and Hoshi had to return to his dancing. Feeling brighter than waking up after a good sleep, he put all his energy in perfecting his dance moves.

-------------

It wasn't long until Seungcheol came barging in on him, two days in a row and maybe counting, to drag him out. "Come visit the children with meeeee." Seungcheol whined, swinging the arm he held back and forth. "Come with hyung~ pwease~?"

Hoshi wanted to puke at his eldest friend's display. "Hyung, I think you've been around them for too long. You're beginning to become one of them." Seungcheol huffed at his retort. "I don't spend ENOUGH time with themmmm......commmmeeee you need a break anyways. The front desk said you were hear since early afternoon and it's almost 8pm." Hoshi wanted to argue that it's barely been 8 hours but the look in Seungcheol's eyes told him not to. "Fine. Let's go see your babies." Seungcheol cheered with childish glee before shooting out the door. "Hurry up! We got to go NOW!"

They made a quick trip to Seungcheol's house to grab Joshua against his will before finally arriving at the kids' house. Wonwoo was the one to open the door, and it seems like it would be that way from now on. "Hey Seungcheol hyung, Joshua hyung, Hoshi hyung."

Once again the three man-children took care of children-children while Jihoon bustled about them, taking care of recovering Mingyu and preparing the children's bath. Once Jihoon began washing the second of the 6 kids, Wonwoo finally sat down next to Seungcheol on the couch who was feeding the clean baby Chan his milk. "Hey hyung. How is work?" Wonwoo started with small talk. "Nothing much. Just doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that. My father hasn't contacted me in a while, which is usually concerning but right now I could care less. How was school without Jihoon?"

"Without Jihoon around school seems kind of pointless." Wonwoo chuckled. His free time at school was usually taken up by Jihoon, either for teaching him work or hanging out in their classroom messing around with music. Since Jihoon was there, there was a hint of loneliness. "I haven't had time away from Jihoon to find genuine people to be friends with, so coming back to this family is always a relief." Seungcheol was sad to hear that Wonwoo didn't have anyone but Jihoon and the kids. He remembered how Wonwoo's parents treated their own son, how other students treat Jihoon like a plague and since Wonwoo sticks to him whenever he can, he was really all on his own.

"If...if you don't mind me saying, you are part of this family too. Remember you told me that I was part of this family? Don't forget that you are part of this family too. If you need anything, you can ask me. I...I want you to treat me like a brother." Seungcheol worded carefully. He knew Wonwoo's family situation wasn't ideal and being so lonely could only lead to depression later on if not prevented now. "All of us, the kids, Jihoon, me, Joshua, Jun and Hoshi, they would come running over if you ever need somebody. They are also my family and they can also be your family. If you want."

Wonwoo was taken aback, surprised that Seungcheol used his words and directed it straight back at him. A warm feeling bubbled in his chest, Seungcheol's words spun cotton candy in his head. "Hyung... I'm glad to be part of this family. Thank you for reminding me. You... are my brother too." He had a shy smile on his usually expressionless face, a tinge pink in his cheeks. Seungcheol smiled wide, just as happy to gain another brother.

"Have  you ever thought about living here?" Wonwoo asked, getting control over his red cheeks and changing the topic. "Hmm, I have but I just have an unnatural fear of my father finding you and the children. Starting my own company already risked my own safety, but hiding from him might have backlash on you all. Though, if he really wanted to find me he would just follow me home." He mumbled at the end, realizing how silly his fear was and how NOT foolproof this plan was. Wonwoo chuckled at his sulking expression before patting him in reassurance. "It must be a good thing then, he isn't actively searching for us." Seungcheol nodded and though the question over again. "Maybe, once I feel that it's okay, I'll move in. Drag the others with me too hehe." Wonwoo hummed in agreement, not minding the large family they would eventually live with. "I'm going to check out how Jihoon's doing now." He excused himself and ran into Hoshi who was returning from the other restroom.

"Oh! Hey, isn't that room down there yours?" Wonwoo nodded and tilted his head in question. "What you doing with such a worn out old mixer?" At that question Wonwoo froze. He forgot to put it away after Jihoon's creative all nighter last night. "O-oh, that, um actually, I have a little bit of interest in music production. Seeing both you and Seungcheol hyung in the industry had only piqued my interest so I picked that up. Y-yeah." It wasn't a total lie, he was into music production, always asking Jihoon about this and that during the creative process. "Oh, cool. If you ever have questions, you can always ask me or Seungcheol hyung." Wonwoo nodded in agreement, even if he had the best teacher in the world already. As Hoshi was beginning to make his way back to Seungcheol in the living room, Wonwoo called for his attention. "Um, good job on your label mate's choreography. It is very rhythmic and entertaining."

Hoshi smiled brightly. "Thanks bro."

Crossing the threshold into the living room and plopping on to the couch, he let out a little giggle. "What's got you all happy?" Seungcheol raised a brow at his chipper friend. "Wonwoo's the second person to praise my choreo for our company's babies."

"Who was the first?"

"Woo-ssi." Seungcheol nodded hearing but not hearing until the name registered. "You mean Woozi's Woo?"

"YuP." Hoshi popped the 'P'. "Oh yea, it turns out we inspired Wonwoo to dabble in music. When I passed his room I took a peek and saw that he had a keyboard and an old mixer hooked up. I told him if he ever had questions he could ask us."

Seungcheol was still wrapping his head on how far Woo and Hoshi's friendship has gotten while he was away, a hum of confirmation leaving his throat.

"I think it was the same model as your last mixer, the one you used in the collab with Woozi."
