He watched as people crowd over her. That wretched boy hugging her tightly as she smiled at him with obvious sickening affection.

He was now a ruined man. All his plans, ambitions all going down the drain because of her. If she only did what he wanted.

The girl that he coveted most because of her abilities is now his greatest downfall.

Anger boiled in his blood.

“Don’t touch me!!” He screamed at the guards who were trying to do exactly what he was shouting them not to do.

“Stop fighting sir.” One said.

He hated their forced fake politeness but it seemed he can’t do anything now. His personal guards are being lead away.

He’s a ruined man.

And it is all because of her.

He watched her with a hateful expression. She was now laughing and crying happy tears.

No if I’m going down, she’s going down with me. He thought.

He suddenly saw an opportunity. He stepped on the instep of one of the guards and the guard cried out in pain, pulling away but not before he grabbed his handgun from its holster. He aimed it at her and fired.

Flo POV

There are times in your life that go fast forward and then there are also times that they go slow motion. Well it’s happening to me right now.

I suddenly heard a commotion where the President was standing and I looked back the same time the shot was fired. The gun was pointed at me. I watched mesmerized that he actual is shooting at me. I didn’t move away.

Then suddenly I was pushed aside and Kris was in front of me. That was the fast forward part.

The Slow motion part was the painful part.

I watch horrified as one shot hit Kris on the shoulder and another one hit him in the chest. I think I screamed as he fell to the ground.

I barely noticed the guards that were rushing at the President or the shot that came after. I was rushing towards Kris.

“Kris?! KRIS!! No no no.’ I said grabbing him and turning him around.

“Are you okay?” He asked weakly. His eyes no longer glowing red.

“Yes! I’m fine but you’re not! Kris what were you thinking?!” I said brushing away his hair away from his face. I tried to look at his wound but his hand reached up to touch my face.

“I’m glad you’re alright.” He said touching my face. He closed his eyes.

“Kris no. No please don’t close your eyes. Please. Help on its way Please.” I said clutching his hand to my face. “Kris please open your eyes.”

He opened them slowly.

“My shoulder hurts.” He said in a low voice.

“Yes. Don’t worry. Help is coming. Don’t close your eyes. Stay with me. Please.” I said crying now. “Kris please.”

“Stop crying Flo.” He said gently wiping away the tears on my face.

Then suddenly a strange thing happened. The glowing mark on his hand is slowly disappearing and his hair… his hair is now changing. It’s turning to a rich brown shade.

“Kris no!! Not now. please not now. I need your fast wolf healing. Please not now.” I said desperately at him but he just smiled at me.

“I knew you we’re my cure.” He said softly and my face again. His eyes slid shut.

“Kris?! KRIS?! NO! WU YI FAN!! OPEN YOUR EYES!” I shouted at him. He didn’t answer nor open his eyes. “Kris please open the, please.”  I grabbed his face and gasped. It was cold. So cold.

“Flo the stretcher is here.” Ren said trying to pull me away from Kris. “they’re taking him to the sick bay now. It’s much closer.”

“no. He has to open his eyes first. Kris please.” I begged.

“Flo. Let him go. He needs a doctor.” Aiden said helping Ren drag me away from Kris.

A team of medics gently pulled him onto a stretcher and take him away.

“Flo he’ll be fine. The sick bay of the Institute is better stocked then most hospitals. A team of doctors is already there ready to operate on him.”Ren said trying to make me look at him but I can’t look away at the image of Kris. Bloody and pale at the same time.

He took the bullet for me. He saved my life… again and again.

“He’ll be fine baby. Calm down.” Ren said gently shaking me.

“But all the blood.” I said.

“He’ll be fine.” Ren repeated in a firm tone.

I was about to believe my brother, that everything will be fine.

Then Minny screamed as Luhan collapsed to the ground beside her.

“Luhan?! Oppa!!” Minny said grabbing him.

“What happened?” Xuimin asked.

“He was complaining of a pain in his chest then collapsed.” Minny said voice shaking in fear.

I rush to them and gently pried Luhan’s eye lids apart. As expected his eyes we’re bloody red.

“His destabilizing again, this is bad. He’s knocked out cold.” I said touching his neck to feel a pulse, it was there but was fading. “He must have overexerted himself, the wolf virus must be attacking his heart. His pulse is disappearing.”

“Flo what’s happening?! He’ll be fine right?” Minny asked.

“I need another stretcher here please.” Aiden ordered.

One appeared instantly. They gently put Luhan on it and rushed him to the sick bay after Kris.

“Have them inject him massive doses of immune enhancing drugs. The best you’ve got.”  Aiden ordered to a Medic who nod and run after Luhan’s team.

I watch them numbly; my mind is shutting down in shock. I suddenly saw my happy garden in my mind and it looked so inviting.

“Flo. Flo you’re shaking.” Kai said and wrapped me in his coat. “Shush. Everything going to be fine.”

“No it won’t..” I said in monotone.

“Yes it will..” He insisted.

“She’s right Kai. It won’t be unless she finishes up the Anti-wolf serum now.” Aiden said and grasped my shoulders giving me a shake. “Flo listen to me.”

“Why is this happening to me?” I asked still in monotone.

“We’ll answer that later but for now you need to get your head in the game. Flo. Luhan and Kris need you.” Aiden said.

“What can I do? I only bring them danger.” I said.

“But you also have their antidote. You finished it already in your head right? You just need to finish it now in physical form.” Aiden said.

“How can I do that? The serum is back in the lab in Korea, if we make a new one from scratch it will take weeks.” I answered.

“Actually I have it with me.” Ren said and pulled out a test tube from his bag. “I just carried one tube just in case we might need it. The rest is in our house. Arthur can drive it here in minutes.”

“But the ingredients are back in the lab.” I said.

“What do you need Flo? This is one of the most advanced research facilities whatever you need must be here somewhere.” Dad said.

I rattled out the names of the rare substances that I needed to finish up the cure. Dad looked at Mom who shook her head.

“Some are here but those are very old, rarely used ingredients. That was like used during Hitler’s time, we don’t use them here since they’re not compatible with our cell plates.. they were used in humans.” Mom answered then looked at me with wide eyes.

“Yes mom. I think you have them. It’s in the President’s Experiment level.  He had bottles of them.” I said in monotone. “He has the equipment too.”

“But that means you need to go down there again.” Dad said. “I only caught a glimpsed of it and nearly vomited my lunch. Can we move the lab?”

“Don’t have time dad. The wolf virus that is attacking Luhan’s body now is a very aggressive one. Once it gains a foothold we might be too late with the cure. I need to do it there.” I said.

“Can you?” Mom asked gently.

I sighed and shook my head.

“I’m scared mom. I’m so scared of that place.” I said in a low voice. Mom wrapped her arms around me tightly.

“My poor baby.” She said.

“But I need to go back there. I promised them I’ll find them a cure and now I’m on the brink of it and of saving them I need to do it. I need to be strong.”I said.

“I’ll come with you and help.” Aiden said.

“Thanks A.” I said smiling at him.

“Then it’s settled. We’ll put temporary covers on the tubes so it won’t be distracting to you.” Mom said. “I’ll go and prepare it now.”

With that she and dad rushed towards the board of directors and engaged them in talk. After a few minutes all of them left for somewhere.

“we’ll lets go back to the white mad room.” Aiden said squaring his shoulders.

“Ren can you take care of my friends? Find them someplace here to stay or just take them back home to the manor?” I asked my brother.

“Of course. Arthur can take care of them once he gets here.” Ren answered smiling at me. He kissed the top of my head gently. “it’s all over now Flo. You don’t have to run anymore.”

“He might escape jail.” I said meaning the President.

“Ohh.. don’t worry about that. The jail his going to is very hard to escape from.” Ren answered and pointed to a puddle of blood a few meters away from us.

“What?” I asked confused.

“When he shot Kris, he gave the initiative for our guards to shoot him. He was hit fatally and died on the spot.” Ren said.

“Oh my…” I said.

“So after we sort everything with Kris and Luhan you’re free.” Ren said grinning at me happily.

I felt tears on my face and I wiped them away.

“Flo! Can I go see Luhan? Please?” Minny said her eyes red from crying.

“I’ll take them there.” Julie offered. “Ren can take those who want to go home.”

It was obvious no one wanted to go home. So Ren is also helping me in the lab.

“I’ll see you guys then.” I said to them. “At home or maybe later I’ll go to the sick bay.”

“You won’t disappear right?” Sehun asked.

“Nope. You guys need me to survive so I’m staying.” I said and smiled. “see you later. J can you get them something to eat and drink too?”

“Don’t worry Flo. I’ll take care of them.” Julie answered. “Come on now you lot.”

They all started to follow Julie but Kai lingered.

“I’ll see you later Oppa. Let the doctors in sick bay tend to your wound.” I said to him and grabbed his hand. “Rest okay? You’ve been through too much..”

“So did you.”  He answered.

“So it’s a tie. Go.” I said giving his hand a squeeze. “Minny needs her best boy buddy with her.”

“And you don’t need me?” He asked.

“Of course I do but I don’t want you to go back to that horrible room. I’ll be fine now, knowing I can stay with you.” I said smiling.

“Forever?” He asked a smile on his face but it strangely didn’t reach his eyes.

“And ever.” I said and kissed his cheek. “I love you.”

There was a long pause before he answered.

“Love you too.”

I let go of his hand and pushed him gently towards our friends who were waiting for him. I waved at the disappeared around a corner.

“Come now Flo. We got work to do.” Aiden said.

I nod and followed him and Ren back to where my nightmares live.

Kris POV

I was in pain.. am I dead? No, there is not suppose to be pain in the afterlife.. unless I was in that hot and fiery place called hell.

No I was not. This place is all white.

“Kris? Are you awake?.” I heard a voice.

I was surely not in hell because that voice belonged to an angel. My personal angel.

“Kris? Open your eyes for me.” Her voice said again.

The white I was seeing must be the back of my eyelids. I searched in my brain for the lever that will open my eyes and I found it. I wanted to see her face.

My vision was a bit blurry at first and then I can finally see her.

“You’re awake!!” Flo exclaimed happily. “I should call the nurse.” She was about to stand from the chair she was sitting on

“Wait..” I said. My voice sounded weak. “please.”

“Do you need anything?” she asked.

“Water.” I said.

She stood and fetched a glass for me. The cool water was amazing to my parched lips but I can’t take more than a few sips. She places the glass on a table and was about to sit back down on the chair.

“Closer.” I said patting the space on my bed.

She smiled at me amused but did what I wanted. She climbed on my bed and I reached out to touch her. Something of her that will solidify that she is actually real and I’m not dreaming… my fingers grazed her arm. She reached out to touch my face gently.

“Are you alright?” She asked.

“No. my whole body hurts.” I answer making her frown worriedly.

“I should tell the nurse you’re awake. They can give you something for the pain.” She said.

“No please stay.” I said.

“I won’t go far. I just need to press that buzzer.” She answered pointing to red button on the wall.

“Oh.. okay.” I said.

“Be right back.” She said grinning and ran to press the button. She came back and climb back on the bed.

A few minutes later a nurse came and happily greeted me since I was apparently unconscious for 3 days. Flo got off the bed so the nurse and the doctor that came after can examine me. They gave me a shot that will take the pain away and left after.

 There was a loud noise and the door burst opened and all our friends came rushing inside.

“His awake!” Tao exclaimed seeing me. He looked like he wanted to cry.

“Yes he is.” Flo said grinning as they crowded around my bed smiling and greeting me happily.

“When did he wake up?” Tao asked her.

“Just a few minutes ago.” She answers.

“That’s unfair!” Tao exclaimed.

“Why?” I asked frowning.

“Actually Kris Tao was the one who was watching you the whole time you were unconscious. I just arrived a few minutes before you woke up.” Flo said grinning at Tao.

“Why did you wake up when Flo was here and not me?” Tao asked- no demanded.

“It’s not like he can choose the timing Tao.” Flo said.

I was apparently too weak to form sentences and the drug that they gave me is making me sleepy. I reached out my hand to Flo.

“Do you want anything Kris?” She asked grabbing my hand. That was strange. I think I can remember her hand was always colder than mine but now hers was warmer.

“You..” I said.

“What about me?” She asked amused.

Before I can answer I yawned.

“You must be sleepy with the painkillers. Go to sleep and rest. We’re transferring you to the manor tomorrow. You’ll rest better there.” She said.

“Stay.” I said to her trying to tighten my grip on her hand.

“Of course. My shift just started.” She answered amused at me. “Go to sleep wolf boy.”

I roll my eyes at her and then my eyes glance at all my friends assembled around me.. my gaze falling last on Kai. He looked pensive and also a bit mad but he was hiding it. What can he be mad about?

I shrug it off in my mind I was too sleepy to think now. The warmth of sleep is now inviting me with its embrace.

“Flo..” I murmured as my eyes closed.

“Sleep my wolf boy. I’ll be here when you wake up.” Flo said.

I had a memory dream again.. it was that moment. The moment I saw through my peripheral vision the President draw out one of the guard’s gun and point it at Flo. Flo had her back at him and was grinning at Kai happily. She never knew what was happening. I saw the President glared at her like if it was possible laser rays will come out of his eyes, that is how much hate I can see in his eyes. I saw his finger squeeze the trigger and I heard the loud bang as the bullet went out of the barrel. He was going to shoot Flo. He wanted to kill her.

Not her. I screamed in my mind.

I felt my heart beat st
