Soojin adjusted again the linen pants she was wearing

-Adorable? Really? What if they don’t like me?

Soojin questioned for the hundredth time since she and Shuhua began their journey to her parent´s house

-They’re going to love you

-Jin ah, you are the most loving person I know, it's impossible for them not to like you

Soojin said with worried eyes and Shuhua caressed her cheek gently, for months Soojin refused to meet her parents, believing they’d think she was definitely not good enough for their daughter

-I talk about you all the time to them and they already love you

Shuhua gave her a little smile and a quick reassuring look before she turned her attention back to the road while Soojin’s head turned to look out the window, taking in the view. Soojin knew that the Chos had met Shuhua in an orphanage on an international trip and that they had money, but as the houses became more and more luxurious the fear of them not approving of her became greater and greater.

A large, overbearing mansion with a traditional style house stands out against the gravel of the drive way.

-We are here but it looks like Miyeon unnie hasn't arrived yet, I haven't seen her car

Soojin breathed a sigh of relief, from the stories Shuhua told about her sister Miyeon was extremely protective and jealous,the Chos were a tight knit family so if her sister didn’t like her, she knew it would be over for them. Shuhua parked the car and turned to Soojin

-Now, take a deep breath Jin ah

Shuhua smiled, leaning closer

-You’ll do great, I know it. They’ll love you. Now, come on, can’t keep them waiting any longer

-I’m glad you’ve got enough confidence for the both of us

-It's because I have the best girlfriend in the world and they will realize that, my family will be just as charmed by you as I am, I promise

Shuhua gave Soojin a quick peck and got out of the car, walking around to the trunk to get their bags with the help of Soojin.

-Ready?

Soojin nodded and Shuhua kisses her on the cheek and grabs her hand, before taking her own suitcase and heading excitedly for the front door. Just as they reached the front porch, the door swung open and a beautiful woman opens the door and pulls Shuhua´s into a tight embrace.

A fresh wave of nerves washes over Soojin while watching the two hugging each other

-You must be Soojin, oh my goodness my dear I’ve heard so much about you, come in, come in

Soojin bowed to the other woman

-We brought this for you

-Oh, it's lovely, thank you

Mrs. Cho holds the fruit basket with a shy smile on her face

-I have to show the fruits to your appa

Mrs Cho lets them into the house first and Soojin steps into what appears to be a kdrama room, it's luxurious but at the same time cozy

-Your appa must be in the studio

They followed Mrs. Cho through several corridors until they reached a door

-It's one of those days

Mrs. Cho opened the door and the sound of a violin caught Soojin's attention.

-Appa likes to play when he's stressed

It´s a soundproofing a room, furnished with bookcases against the walls, acoustic wall panels and instruments of all types, it looked like a mini studio

-My appa is passionate about music, this is his man cave

Shuhua smiled

-That's his and Miyeon's thing

-She always preferred the theaters

Shuhua's dad steps forward then, looking Soojin in the eye. He radiates kindness but power

-Thank you for welcoming me into your home Mr Cho

Soojin bowed

-I've heard so much about you!

Mr Cho said as he watched Soojin up and down

-Appa, stop trying to scare her off

-I'm not scaring her off! Please make yourself at home, do you play some instrument?

-Unfortunately not

-Well, it's never too late to learn, Shuhua took some guzheng lessons when she was younger but she preferred to skip class to watch the dancers rehearse

Shuhua feels her cheeks warm, but her father only laughs as he starts showing his guitars to Soojin

The night is going better than Soojin could have planned. They managed the unpacking while Mrs Cho talked to the staff about dinner that night, Miyeon's girlfriend's birthday was next week and they were going to take advantage of Shuhua and Soojin's visit to celebrate, Nicha was Thai and Mrs. Cho had hired a Thai chef to prepare the typical dishes.

Shuhua was showing Soojin the garden lights when hurried footsteps echoed around the garden

-PIGGY

A younger version of Mrs Cho leaps from the top of the stairs towards Shuhua

-UNNIE

Shuhua catches her easily and Soojin doesn’t know whether to be amazed or scared by her girlfriend's strength

-I missed you Piggy

-It’s good to see you again unnie, I thought you would never come back from Bangkok

Shuhua grinned as she put her down

-Things took longer than we expected at the resort

Miyeon gives her another hug, holding on tight like she's never going to let go.

-Where is Nicha?

-Appa is showing her his newest banjo

Turning to see Soojin, Miyeon walked over to her in a stride trying to be intimidating

-You must be Soojin, it’s nice to finally meet you

Miyeon looked her up and down like her father but with a friendly smile.

-You too, I hope you had a great trip

Soojin said as her anxiety started to rise once again

-We had

-Why are they taking so long unnie?

Shuhua takes out her phone and gets distracted by a call while Miyeon watches her for a few seconds, then her kind-hearted smile dropped from her face as she gets closer to Soojin

-If you hurt my baby sister, make no mistake, I will kill you and scatter your pieces all over the coast

Miyeon has the size and appearance of an adorable rabbit but her gaze is so cold that all Soojin could do was nod

-I understand

-Miyeon unnie stop threatening my girlfriend

Immediately Miyeon's face changes and she smiles at Shuhua

-We were jus... look! Nicha is coming

Miyeon pointed to the stairs and Soojin saw a tall woman approaching, but as she got closer, Soojin´s stomach dropped, she recognized Nicha, in fact, she remembered exactly where she knew her from.

-Jin ah! This is Nicha unnie. Unnie, this is my girlfriend, Soojin

Nicha looked at Soojin and also froze.

-Soojin?

Nicha asked with an indecipherable expression on her face

-Minnie? You’re…Miyeon´s Nicha?

-Nicha is my thai name and you are Shuhua´s Soojin

-Do you two…know each other?

Miyeon asked, confusion in her tone.
