When Minnie moved to South Korea a few years ago, she didn't expect that she would become the leader of a group, she sure didn’t expect to have that responsibility because she isn´t Korean but Soojin was too shy and insecure to be a leader and Minnie was the oldest among the three so... yeah, leader Minnie.

The Cherries had just performed at Inkigayo and while the girls were resting in the dressing room Minnie went to get some snacks. She walked the halls unhurriedly, greeting a few staffs and idols along the way and when she approached the vending machine she saw a girl scanning the machine, the first thing Minnie noticed about her was her singular beauty, she had an impeccable side profile and the second thing she noticed was that the girl was extremely nervous, the girl's body language screamed tension and shyness and Minnie smiled in sympathy, she was that girl once.

-Oh no,poor turtle

The girl looked scared as the Orion Kkobuk Turtle Corn Chips fell into the pick-up port.

-What?

-The turtle... you gonna eat her

The girl looked at the chips, looked at Minnie, looked back at the snack and her eyes widened when she realized who was talking to her

-Omg

The girl did a full bow and looked at Minnie with her face completely red.

-I'm sorry I didn't recognize and greet you properly

Minnie just smiled

-It's okay, today is your big day isn't it? Your debut

The girl just smiled shyly

-Yes it is... how did you know?

-I noticed that you were very nervous

The girl made a sad face

-Is it that obvious? The manager told me that I have to look strong and confident

-Don't worry about it, it's just that I learned to read people's body language and a friend told me that a group was debuting today

The girl smiled at Minnie in gratitude.

-My name is Cho Miyeon and I admire your work a lot, I hope to be as good a leader as you are.

Minnie felt her heart beat faster when she noticed how cute Miyeon's smile was

-Thank you, being a leader is not easy but as long as you and your groupmates are friends, everything will work out

-We are good friends, Soyeon is a musical genius and Shuhua is the funniest person I have ever met

Miyeon widened her eyes

-Oh really? I wouldn't want to bother you

Minnie just smiled and pointed at the cell phone in Miyeon's hand.

-Is this yours?

-Yes, it is

-Can I borrow it?

Miyeon handed over the cell phone and Minnie typed something on it and handed it back

-Okay, now you have my number, whenever you need advice you can send me a message

They stared at each other for a few seconds and Minnie felt her face flush.

-Thank you for everything...you don't know how important this is to me

-You're welcome

-Now I have to go back to the dressing room before the manager complains about my delay.

Minnie smiled at her

-It was nice meeting you Cho Miyeon

-It was nice meeting you Minnie Yontararak

Minnie didn't know why she had been so direct with Miyeon that morning, she was a friendly person but not as much as she was with Miyeon, years later she would come to the conclusion that it was cupid who had put her in Miyeon's path that day and inspired her to talk to her. Despite both groups' busy schedules they became fast friends, Miyeon and Minnie bonded over being the leaders and oldests in their groups, exchanging messages and video calls whenever they could.

When they had comebacks in the same week Miyeon made sure to visit her in the dressing room and always brought the maknae along, Shuhua was extremely fun and Minnie thought that the not-so-secret crush she had on Soojin was cute. Soyeon was more reserved and didn't visit the dressing room with them but when she finally did she got into a lively debate with Yuqi about musical instruments, who knew the shy and reserved rapper could be so loud like that

The Cherries finally had a few days off and Minnie was able to visit her parents, throughout her stay in Bangkok she and Miyeon talked often, every time Minnie went somewhere she made sure to make a video call with Miyeon and show her everything

-She sounds special

Minnie's mom said after she hung up on a conversation with Miyeon

-She is

Mrs Yontararak stared at her daughter for a few seconds and sighed.

-Just be careful alright, you know how prejudiced and mean the media can be

Minnie widened her eyes

-I don't know what you are talking about

-Nicha, I know! I know since you were in boarding school and you liked your roommate

Minnie widened her eyes

-And you never said anything?

-And what would I say to you? I knew you would tell me when you felt comfortable

Minnie felt her eyes fill with tears and Mrs Yontararak hugged her.

-My sweet girl, your daddy and I will always love you, no matter what happens.

Minnie just hugged her mother as she sobbed uncontrollably.

-We love you and we are very proud of you and when the time comes I want to meet Miyeon in person

Minnie felt her face flush

-We are just friends

-For now, but a mother knows best, just please be careful, people can be mean and I don't want to see you both suffering
